Next up is Dusty.
Martin played 20 games this year to take his career tally to 63. He of course missed the other two matches this season due to a club imposed suspension. Dusty had 20 or more disposals in 15 games this year and twice reached the 30 or more mark with 32 possies and 2 goals against Hawthorn in round 9 and 30 versus the Bulldogs in round 20. He finished equal 10th in the B&F.
Career stats:

So how did we all rate Dusty's year?
-
6 - needs to pull his head out of his YKW
Lazy footballer

Frustrating dichotomy between potential and output.

A very good year without being absolutely outstanding, still progressing nicely all things considered if not for that 10 goal deficit in last 12 months he would have flatlined. A sublime talent that is capable of anything
-
Could probably be anything..could reach heights rarely seen in the AFL or sink into the depths of oblivion..Its all up to him

Worryingly plateaued.
5.5/10
-
Didn't have second year blues but had third year blues instead. Breakout year in 2013.
-
6 not to much wrong, just needs to extract his head from his rs and don't believe the hype!
Warranted just don't believe it!
-
thought his season similar to 2011. pretty decent for one so young.
clearly does not have a tank. i dont expect a big upside from him until the tank gets bigger. could take another two or three seasons before we see the best of this kid. reckon the wait will be worth it.
biggest gripe is hes mostly one way atm but again it comes back to his tank.would also like to see more give offs rather than taking players on so much. would also like to see more work 1% for team mates it will all come.
it took ablett 5 yrs to get a big enough motor to allow him to play the way he does today.

agree. Hoping for a big year next season. Extremely talented player who has the potential to be a superstar of the game. If goes in with right mindset watch out other sides
-
All about fitness for this kids and not just preseason fitness but maintaining it throughout the year. Seems like he lacks the motivation to push himself to become the best but rather depends on his sizable natural talent. Love to see him use both and then he will join the competitions best.
-
Crap season. Expected him to take the next step but he failed to do so. Perhaps less clubbing and bourbons?
2011 remains his best year so far.

I see Willy as more the "Peoples Poet" ;D

Reckon if his scoring said 33.13 rather than 23.23 the we'd probably think his year was better.
Thought he was OK but clearly struggles with a tag or close checking
-
Exactly, but for 10 lousy goals and his year was much like 2012...i think what frustrates most is e looks to have the ability to push 25 plus possies a week which he rarely if ever does, his tank is questionable, thats ok, he is a super damaging forward :shh
-
Needs to improve his kicking bigtime at times costs us to much turnovers and trys to do to much sometimes.
-
The challenge for our club is to extract the best out of Dusty..
Can see him playing mainly in the forward line next season.

Disagree, think with another preseason under his belt he will spend more time in the midfield, but having said that he will always be a midfielder that will go forward for short bursts simply bc he is so damaging.
Think ppl are reading way too much into this bad boy bad behavior thing, apart from that 1 error of judgement he's been on the right path and has worked really hard on building up his fitness, not sure why ppl are pooting themselves thinking he's at the crossroads.

Is that why a club official will be following Dusty and James O'connor from bar to bar in a Club RSV (Rumour Suppression Vehicle) ;D

Yep. I've heard some pretty interesting tales of Dusty's antics.
Not sure if all of them are true, but often when there's smoke there's fire. A lot of my friends see him out and about.

Hypothetical scenario as I don't think we should be dealing with GWS on their terms......but if GWS was to make a play for Dusty what would be his price? Picks 2&3..???
-
They have made a play for him, he told them to FO and stuck with us. :cheers

Almost feel off skate board last week.

Dusty 7.0/10
Could have been better could have been worse.
I think he is in our top 8 players
RFC needs to work as a club to ensure he becomes the footballer and club man he has the potential to be.
It seems he is mostly on the right track and I am very very very happy he is at Richmond and the set of events which led him to us so that we didn't get Scully (thank you Jordan McMahon)
In essence it is up to RFC to nurture him on the right path BUT also up to Dusty to decide what he really wants.
All the foundations are in place
As the great man JS wrote
" It was the best of times, it was the worst of times..."
Could apply to Dusty and RFC next season
-
Just a question if the giants or swans offered us a ripper deal for martin would you consider it ??.Like 2 first rd picks or Tyson and a pick from the giants.

Don't think he wants to leave Melbourne

All the posts relating to re dog and homework have been removed.
Just goes to prove that it just isn't worth bothering with rumours that are blatantly untrue even sending them via PM
-
is fact.
You dont have proof then it isn't FACT & CANNOT be posted

Quite frankly I don't care
I am irate that this Forum was put in the situation it was
An apology would be nice
-
This thread is for discussing Dusty's onfield football exploits and nothing else! It's not that hard ::).
-
So Dusty fell off a skateboard and WP cracked the poos because he reckons Richmond's lawyers spend every second on here trying pin something against OER?
Yep, typical OER and WP. Just another day at the office. ;)
-
Was close to falling off.
Regained his balance. :cheers

Glad you think it is funny
As for me cracking the "poos" damn straight I did as I said I was and I am still irate over what was posted. As for it being "typical" of me then I will not apologise for it.
What apppeared was not funny, contained things that were defamatory and therefore could have caused massive damage to this site.
As for lawyers.... never said anything about lawyers but I hate to break this to you but there are people who monitor these sites and I am not talking about Clubs.. and dare I say it it is a FACT.
Whether you chose to believe that or not is up to you
But I suppose if people don't care if OER disappears then that's the way things go

My apologies WP. I pm'd some stuff i'd heard to Mrakov, which could all be BS. Just rumors, as you say. But then he accidentally posted it on the forum when he meant to PM it to others. Genuine mistake.
Our bad.

True. As the old Hawk Headquarters forum found out the hard way about six years ago after someone there posted some defamatory comments and included the phone number of a senior umpire. The AFL found out and came down on that site like a tonne of bricks. To avoid any further legal lisk, the owners made their forum invitation only until they finally closed the forum down for good.
-
I also apologise to the mods for the mistake.

How does Will know the rumours are blatantly untrue

I think they are being sent via PM but they are blatantly untrue... even though I haven't read them

Okay ppl, back to discussing Dusty the footballer onfield.
-
I think Dusty really needs to work on his leg speed for defensive purposes. There's no doubt he's an attacking machine, but last season I did see on a number of occasions he was left behind easily when chasing the opposition.

:lol I agree that his chasing efforts are very poor. But you cant have leg speed for attacking but no leg speed for defending. You're either slow both ways or you're a lazy prick. I think Dusty is leaning towards the latter.
-
With Knights coming in to play medium fwd is it Dusty's turn to spend some time doing penance in the back half?
-

Nah it's time for him to harden up and spend large portions in the middle banging them through from the centre rather than having a picnic in the forward pocket for 3/4 of a game. :shh
-
I hope after 3 years being unaccountable and lazy he can click his fingers...
-
His defensive efforts did get better after his holiday
-
yeah, for a couple of weeks they did.
