Summary
* 1-3 players back last week. 4-7 joined them on Wednesday. We've done different training so far so we'll be doing a time trial in two weeks time. Nice to see Dusty improve in his running. He's been good since we've been back.
* Our supporters are very passionate and it's only natural to think our progression is automatically into the finals next year. However there is no right of passage into the Eight and sides already in there aren't just going to fall out. We've just got to improve to get into the Eight. Reality is we've got to win games and there are no easy games. We lost a number of close games this year. We still need to improve in a number of areas to get there. We've still got a long way to go to match the quality of games in the finals last year. Grand Final was one of the best he's seen.
* We're confident going into the draft. Francis Jackson has done a terrific job for us in Dimma's time at the club. Additions of Martin, Conca, Ellis, Batch, Griffiths - Dimma is happy with who FJ has brought to the club. Dimma, Cameron and Hartley have sat down with Francis and discussed what type of player we'd like but it's FJ who makes the final decision as that's his job.
* Chaplin - we looked at him last year. Adds a dimension to our defence we lacked; he adds leadership and has a competitive nature. We believe with Leppitsch coaching him he is a player who has the potential to be All-Australian. He adds a bigger body and experience down back. We had one of the youngest backline this season.
* A.Edwards - snapped a tendon in finger and he's had some minor shoulder surgery so he's on modified training (Wednesday was his first day back). He's a noted goalkicker which is a certain area we needed to bolster with Miller retiring and TV being injured this season. He's disappointed with his actions; it didn't put him on the best foot coming into the club; he's got the hard work in front of him. But Dimma believes after sitting down with Edwards that he's a good character and he's learnt a harsh lesson that that sort of behaviour isn't acceptable at our footy club but we believe he'll be a good player for us over the coming year.
* Riewoldt - he didn’t have a pre-season last year. Had 5 surgeries over October, November and December so didn't have a preseason. This year he’ll come in unhindered. We’re looking for a bigger season from Jack.
* Vickery - he’s a guy that is of enormous importance to us. He’s just a positive when he walks onto the field, he straightens us up, he certainly gives Ivan Maric some help in the ruck situation, and he’s an important part of our future. We probably played him a little bit injured last year which Dimma admitted was a mistake on his behalf. So we’re looking forward to big season from Ty next year.
* We got just over 53k members this year. So we believe we'll get 60k next year. There's a lot of Tiger supporters out there so hopefully they will jump on the bandwagon and get behind us.
* We're due to win one in round 1. Dimma said it's doing he's head in to be honest. He's looking forward to get one up on Mick as he's hadn't beaten him as coach.

Hasn't won against Malthouse or beaten Carlton in Round One - come on Dimma. That's a record we must break!
-
Well he has had a poo side to work with since he has been with us.
In his first year 2010, we were the worst side since Fitzroy. 2011 saw a gradual improvement from there. 2012 was a huge step up in competitiveness with us having the first year in living memory that we did not sustain a single thrashing in a season. All this with compromised drafts and the expansion sides.
Its a bit unfair comparing him to a coach who had the most resources at his disposal in respect to win loss ratios.

I'd agree only it was Hardwick that brought it up.

Nice summary, and well spoken by Dimma. I've noticed a greater emphasis on culture at the club since Benny & Dimma came on board. :thumbsup

Don't know that you could call Freo a hoodoo game EEA, unless you're referring to Hardwick v Lyons. We have won 5 of our last 8 against them.

Nothing will make me happier than beating the scum round 1 next year.
It's time we pulled their pants down and gave them a spanking.
Bloody cheats!

Yes I was reffering to the fact the Rossy boy has outcoached us since Dimma has been there, and well for 8-9 games straight? :shh

Vickey set for 2013

RICHMOND'S 2013 prospects will be heavily dependent on finding some forward line support for two-time Coleman medallist Jack Riewoldt.
The good news is that big man Ty Vickery, who missed the second half of the Tigers' 2012 campaign due to a shoulder injury, is fit again and ready to attack the pre-season.
“We probably played him a little bit injured last year, which is a mistake on my behalf, so we’re looking forward to big season from Ty next year," Richmond coach Damien Hardwick said in a recent interview on 3AW.
Vickery, who was a top-10 draft pick in the 2008 NAB AFL Draft, had a breakout season in 2011, playing every game and booting 36 goals.
But once he was forced to undergo surgery in July, the Tigers had to rely more on Brad Miller to help out Riewoldt.
Miller has now retired, which has heaped more pressure on Vickery to stand up next year.
"(Ty) is a guy that is of enormous importance to us," Hardwick said.
"He’s just a positive when he walks onto the field. He straightens us up, he certainly gives Ivan Maric some help in the ruck situation, and he’s an important part of our future."
In more good news for Tigers fans, Riewoldt's body is also in good shape.
"Jack, to his credit, last year he didn't have a pre-season at all," Hardwick said.
"He had five operations over the course of the November-December months and didn't have any pre-season.
"So this year he'll come in pretty much unhindered, and we're certainly looking forward to a bigger season from Jack."
Richmond has also strengthened its attack with the acquisition of former North Melbourne forward Aaron Edwards.
Although Edwards hasn't begun his time at the Tigers in great fashion - he was arrested for being drunk in a public place after a big day out at the Cox Plate - Hardwick believes the 28-year-old can make a big impression at Punt Rd.
"He was obviously disappointed with his actions," Hardwick said.
"It was something that didn't put him on the best foot, so to speak, coming into the club.
"So he knows he's got the hard work in front of him.
"But he's a noted goalkicker and it's certainly an area that last year, with Ty going down, we certainly needed to bolster."
Edwards has begun his pre-season on a modified program.
"He came in after a bit of shoulder surgery - nothing major, just a minor operation," Hardwick said.

Direct quotes from Dimma about us making the finals:
“People will see a natural progression for us of going into the eight, but unfortunately there’s no rite of passage,” Hardwick said.
“We look at the sides above us, and there are no guarantees that any of them are going to drop out.
“So we just have to improve and make sure we earn our place in the eight, and that’s what we’ll be firmly entrenched in doing.”
“The reality of the situation is that you have to win games to get there, and there are no easy games in AFL. It was a reminder for us last year when we lost a number of games by a small margin,”.
“We need to improve in a number of areas to get to where we want to be.”
