ABC axes Marngrook Footy Show

Marngrook Listeners to ABC Victoria and 774 Melbourne have responded agrily to the news that the ABC has axed its indigenous Australian football program, the Marngrook Footy Show.

The news came through late this afternoon that the Show will not return for a third season on ABC2, with the ABC blaming budgetary constraints.

Aunty also explained to the show's executive producer Grant Hanson that the decision was also due to falling ratings with the program up against a number of football panel programs airing on Thursday night on rival channels.

Agree
There is a new indigenous channel coming out soon, not sure if its fta or paytv but some have suggested it may get a spot on there.
Imo and only mo I wouldn't think that would be a good move, I believe the show is well worth pushing for fta station on a good time slot.

there is already and indigenous channel of Foxtel (NITV) and Marngrook Footy Show was replayed on that after it had been shown on ABC2.

Perhaps Fox Footy might be interested  :-\

You can thank the idiots running Ch 10 for this. They moved Before the Game from Saturday 6.30pm to Thursday 8.30pm which put it directly up against Marngrook footy show. Interesting to know if BTG's ratings have suffered too as a result.

The best and biggest cheer squad in the AFL  :thumbsup.

I did love the technical management titles they have now. "Banner senior co-ordinator" = spell checker lol.
