Former Richmond ruckman and Tigers chief executive Brendon Gale, who has a law background and who previously headed the AFL Players' Association, has emerged as a key contender for the job.

He will if the pay packet's big enough.
-
AA's replacement will have less authority in a restructured role it says,
thats a positive for Benny to stay you would hope
-
look beyond the AFL. :thumbsup

No no god noooooooooo

Gale needs to come out very quickly and put to bed any suggestion that he is considering this position. If he doesn't, then I believe we can safely assume that he has a genuine interest in winning the job at the AFL.
I think if he is offered the job at AFL then he will take it. Its going to be loads of cash and will come with high job security barring a catastrophe. It has always been my quiet belief that Benny took the position at Richmond as a precursor to something more substantial at the AFL anyway, Richmond was his administration apprenticeship if you will or his opportunity to put on show his abilities to AFL house.
I hope he doesn't go, I hope he comes out and says this is all crap I'm not going anywhere but he needs to come out early and state his position otherwise i believe he will be contesting the position.

This is actually funny. Can't see him going anywhere
Was at a THC function last night and Benny was a guest speaker, he was asked a question about if the AFL comp can continue to support 10 teams in Victoria ::). Benny's response was it wasn't his problem as his focus is the RFC and returning to being a power in the comp and finishing what he started :clapping
A nothing report with a bit of scare mongering thrown in for good measure ;D

the fact that gillon Mclachlan looks to be the next el presidente in waiting i think would presuade Benny, job is only half finished at Tigerland

Jake Niall from the Age is on 3aw now and he reckons the AFL will go with an internal appointment in Simon Lethlean to replace Anderson.

Niall reckons Benny Gale would be a great appointment for the AFL but he would be letting down Richmond if he left now to join the AFL. Richmond is poised to become a good club but they aren't there yet.

Imo and fwiw,
I'd like to see Benny finish what he started, to achieve as close as possible to their bold visionary plan
If he could bring sustained success or. Even a premiership- my god. Anyone taking the tiges out of the 30 doldrums to premiership deserves to be waiting in line for Andy D's job.

Each AFL CEO (Oakley, Jackson, Demetriou) has served about a decade in charge. So given McLachlan is next in line to take over when finally Demetriou steps down (which could still be a few years away), Benny has got some time on his side to finish off what he wants to do at Richmond before heading off to AFL HQ.

The ferals will be out if he jumps ship. Wouldn't be walking to my car alone at night if I was him.

Richmond chief executive Brendon Gale has ruled himself out as a candidate.
"I'm fully committed to delivering success at the Richmond Football Club," Gale said last night.

So there you go, Gale has ruled himself out early, which is what he needed to do, so we are safe.

God bless him
