-
I,ll give it a go.lol
-
please disregard the current draft night dates as I need to work out a suitable date and time for everyone involved.
-
Only 7 Spots left in this Comp.
-
Hopefully we can fill it up soon so we can organise a draft night.
-
In.
But I don't see anyone else?
-
Hopefully we can fill it up soon so we can organise a draft night.
Probably going to have to close the AFL draft comp and get everyone in it to come over to Supercoach so We can run at least one comp.
Now are we in favour of a live draft or an Auto draft? A Live draft will take some time whereas an auto draft which takes your highest available preference at each pic can be over very quickly.
-
Not fussed Tiga. If everyone has a draft order preference the results should be the same anyway.
-
Im In both, all and everything. You knew I would be.

An auto draft would be ok with me especially if you are thinking of a 9 pm start! at my age most of us go to bed with Big Dog :ROTFL

No problems Mops, Auto draft seems to be the easiest option to get things going for everyone

G'day from old blighty. I have registered for this. Well done Tiga for organising. Not fussed about the draft if its too difficult.
-
The Official draft Date is now Monday 18/3/13 at 9pm and it is currently set to auto. I can set it to manual if everyone is able to participate at the allotted time and to speed things along I can put a time limit of a couple of minutes per selection.
If anyone else wants to join in there are still 4 spots available.

whats this all about ????????

CUB, the difference between this comp and a normal supercoach comp is that every player goes into a draft and can only be selected once. Eg if I end up with the #1 draft pick and I select Cotch, then nobody else can have him. Its a more realistic comp relying on your skills at the draft table. The draft is currently set to auto, taking your preferences from a selection list you create pre draft.
But your selection list must cater for all positions. Eg you can't have 22 midfielders in your team.
Once teams are selected we go though the usual home and away point scoring process.
Clear as Mud?

12 * 22 says there will be 264 unique players selected, and just going through the list I thought I should give everyone a heads up to look deep through what has been automatically pre-selected. High on the list are a heap of blokes who won't be playing early and some of the gems ready for break outs are down a little. I'm only midway through the first hundred and that's where it's starting to get tough. This is going to be a lot of fun. If this goes well maybe next year we can do a live one, because just looking now I can already see there are going to some who pick up absolute bargains and if we can all save our pre-draft orders or it shows who went at what pick I reckon we're going to get a right laugh. At first I actually selected Watts as one because I thought it would be funny, but realised I'd probably regret it after the laugh wore off.

OK, by #200 it's starting to get hard to differentiate poo from clay, so I just moved a bunch of potatoes down to 300+, and fingers crossed no one is needed beyond 175'ish. ;D
-
dwaino, if you want we can go manual, but we all need to be prepared to set aside a couple of hours on the trade night. I'm up for it.
-
No it's all good, auto seems the best for everyone :thumbsup
What happens if our final spots don't get filled? Does it fill with randoms?
-
Im sorry guys but Im going to have to pull the pin on this one. I just havent had a chance to look at the list and I wont get a chance before Mondays draft. Really disapointed as I used to do this with a group back in the early 90's and its a load of fun.

Fluffy, keep your team in and just rename it to "The ghosts of Fluffy". That way your DT cred remains intact. ;D Or if you leave your list as default it will go for the best players statistically from 2012.
dwaino, I think it will just auto fill from memory but it sounds like you already have a pretty well thought out list. If in doubt we can trade throughout the season anyway. :thumbsup
-
Draft night tonight at 9pm folks. As it is auto, you will probably know your team by 9:02pm ;D
I suspect there will be a bit of trading after the fact as I have no idea who I will be getting. I've just used dwaino's tactic of moving all the spuds to the bottom.

9.23pm to be exact ;D
I hope my recruiter isn't from the Dees :help. I'll be spewing if my team used first rounders to grab Jack Watts and Cale Morton :help.

The draft lapsed because the league did not contain 16 teams
-
Yes, need to change the league size to 8, as there are only 8 teams. Then set the draft to automate again at another time this week.
-
Changed the league to 8 and selections commencing at 11:10pm
Sorry for the stuff up
-
Well we are all done. I tried to be tricky and it kind of backfired. Got a gun backline and forward line. I got both Maric & cox and mcintosh on the bench in the ruck but my midfield is a disaster with only montagna as an a grade midfielder. The rest are ordinary except maybe treloar as a promising up and comer .
Not sure what the rest of you got as ruckman but I think I ended up with the top 3 lol
-
Gee whiz Tiga, how early did you want to take Cox then? lol. I admit I had him at 6, as I guessed that odds were I wasn't likely to have an early pick, but went for the top 5 midfielders (IMO) then Cox, thinking that midfielders that average 100+ bat deeper than rucks/forwards, so I'll reach for him early on. But all in all, happy with my team. Bit worried about my forward line though. No one rates the outside mid/smaller Hawthorn forwards? :P Shocking day for Hawks could mean a shocking day for Dwaino's Deros. My team:
DEF: H. Shaw, Birchall, Duffield, Hurn, D. Stanley
MID: Dangerfield, Deledio, Barlow, Masten, Hannebery, Ziebell
RUC: Jacobs, Z. Smith
FWD: J. Roughead, Rioli, Rockliff, J. Lewis, Breust
INT: H. Taylor, Heppell, Wellingham, S. Edwards
Looking through the list of FAs (though they're all still currently under waiver), I doubt I'll make any changes for now.
-
Just looking through everyone's teams, it sure looks like this will be a lot more exciting than regular SC! The teams are so different, and they remind me of real teams. Everyone has some top shelf talent, but carrying a few plodders too.
Feeling a bit bullish at the moment though. Reckon I'm comfortably batting through to my bench ;D Might have to see who can dish me up the best tabbouleh to get a run on the park :shh :rollin
-
I didn't do too badly with my team. Strong mids and rucks; Backs not too bad as far as generating Supercoach pts; Forward line on the weak side.
DEF: Adcock, S.Thompson (Nth), Rance, C.Cornes, Burgoyne
MID: Watson, J.Kennedy (Syd), Mitchell, S.Thompson (Adel), Judd, Sewell
RUCK: McEvoy, Jolly
FWD: T.Walker, Whitecross, Adams, Schulz, Mayne
INT: Carrazzo, K.Cornes, Fyfe, Gaff
-
Def : Goddard, Gibbs, Hartlett, Chaplin, Fisher (Not bad)
Mids : Ablett, Boyd, Sidebottom, Shuey, Redden, McVeigh (Very good)
Rucks : Minson, Griffin (oh dear)
Forwards : Bartel, Dahlhaus, Cloke, Sylvia, Westhoff (oh Dear!!)
Bench : Greene (GWS), Mundy, Kerr, Hodge (Not bad)
How do you view the other teams?
-
Here's my full team. Happy overall but mid midfield really needs work
Def: B.Waters, H.Scotland, P.Hanley, J.Grimes, R.Murphy (Good)
Mids: L.Montagna, B.Vince, B.Howlett, A.Treloar, T.Liberatore, T.Mzungu (Depressing)
Rucks: I.Maric, D.Cox (is it possible to do any better)
Forwards: P.Chapman, D.Zorko, D.Thomas, J.Riewoldt, D.Martin (Very Good)
Bench: N.Grima, M.Wallis, H.Macintosh, A.Goodes (Okay)
Going to go through whats left to see if there are any decent mids not selected but as I have a dearth of quality ruckman, I might consider letting McIntosh go for the right Midfielder.

McIntosh not prepared to play second fiddle
By Tiga Tagadong
First Sports News
Fri, 22nd March 2013
Talented Ruckman Hamish McIntosh has declared publicly that he is not prepared to play second fiddle at the Terrors in 2013 and wants out!
With the likes of Dean Cox and Ivan Maric ahead of him in the pecking order, he has realised that it is inevitable that he will spend the majority of his time playing in
the Terror's feeder club, The Marvel City Mud Runners. His only hope is for injury to occur to either Cox or Maric which at this stage looks unlikely.
In a recent interview FSN found on youtube, Hamish stated, "I don't know why they selected me. I'm too good to be an insurance policy destined to play in the Magoo's. I'm a big game player, I love the roar of the crowd. It lifts me to be the best I can be. The sound of squelching devon sandwiches and loo's flushing in boondock games just doesn't cut it for me."
It's clearly evident that McIntosh is unhappy and he has asked his manager, Reno Esquino, to field offers from other clubs interested in adding quality to their ruck division.
We spoke with the Terror's Head Coach and he stated "We understand that Hamish is unhappy with his position in the ruck team, however he is still a required player and therefore we will not be granting him a release. In saying that, we will consider offers from other clubs that are interested, and if the dangled carrot is big enough, we will be willing to negotiate."

Downward Deros keen to turn it around
By Turdburglar
Alleged News Journalists
Fri, 22nd March 2013
It was a disappointing 2012 for the Deros after a solid 2011, but this week head coach Dwaino was confident that things were to change in 2013 after some mature recruiting in the off-season but it will really depend on whether the younger, less experienced players are able to take that next level. "Look, we're under no illusions that it's going to be a tough year, but the younger guys like Breust, Heppell, and Ziebell know it's their turn to pick up the slack. [Captain] Dangerfield, [vice-captain] Deledio, and those who have proven their elite status, just aren't enough to win games on their own," told Dwaino to ANJ earlier this week.
Dwaino also went on to say that within the club there is a buzzing optimism about the Deros ability to compete all season against every side, "we are still yet to cement our best 22. Obviously there is Patty [Dangerfield], Lids [Deledio], Shaw, and Big Sauce [ruckman Sam Jacobs], but from Grog [Duffield] to Goldylocks [Heppell], Breust to Sheds [Edwards], there is real competition for spots and we think that will work for us." Deros are also expecting the return of midfielder Wellingham to return sometime after the first couple rounds.
When asked about if there is any interest in disgruntled Terrors' ruckman Hamish McIntosh, Dwaino replied that naturally questions had to be asked internally when a player of that quality may be obtainable, but at this stage no formal inquiry has been made. "Look, he's a great player and I'm sure plenty of teams would love to have him. But at this stage he's under and injury cloud. We're really keen to see how big Clarky goes in the ruck behind Sauce [Jacobs], and we've also got Roughy up forward to cover any immediate ruck issues should they arise. It's something though that I'm will be looked at by our football manager [Mick] Molloy and list manger The Paw in time."
When asked about his earlier and much publicised off season incident in Thailand with a transsexual hooker and what effect it will have on the team over the season, Dwaino denied having any comment and that whether or not it was actually a prostitute is nothing more than alleged.
