Where's the Dwayne Russell quits breathing thread?
-
I reckon Sandy would know which side of the bread his butter is on.
He can see the future of AFL broadcasting and that is on pay TV.
You have to give the AFL credit for their success in slowly taking the game away from the masses to become elitist.
-
LOL
What, going from 1 game on free to air a week to 4? Elitist :lol
If free to air wanted to show 9 AFL games every week they would, but they don't, so how is that of the AFL's making? :huh

going to the footy is becoming elitist
watching it on a box, not so much

5 years ago i could watch every game, including pre season games on FTA, now its 4 season proper and FA pre season.
Charging parents $10 to go to the footy and umpire their kids games, or otherwise volunteer their time, because the AFLNT (note the AFL in the name - used to be NTFL until they came under the AFL umbrella, and took over the TEAFA) are more interested spending money on "elite" junior football, or their own super expensive expansion teams, rather than promoting grass roots football.
Charging clubs to play games on their home ground because they miss out on gate takings for a second rate poo hole stadium.
Dont come up with any crap about it not being the AFL because they have their logo on everything to do with football (and not just up here either.) Frawley and his cohorts sit in the same ivory tower as Vlad and his minions, just a level or two below. They take their directions from those at the top of the tower.
How many football clubs have folded in the last 30 years?
They have basically destroyed the VFA, which is now the VFL and thus owned by the AFL.
How much money do you think the two new expansion teams have sucked out grass roots football in states where people actually care about the game?
When Mr Rabbit wins the next election and slashes the anti siphoning laws, see what happens at the next broadcasting negotiations. More and more games will go to pay TV.
The AFL think they own the game of Aussie Rules and take the grass roots masses for granted, pandering to corporate interests while not giving a stuff about those that actually make the game, the fans.
Unless you are a talented junior with potential to play at the highest level, or a fan with a fist full of cash the AFL couldn't give a stuff about you and only give token support.
The game is becoming elitist, in all facets.
-
when did they show every game on FTA? not in VIC and not WA, NSW & SA. Not Live either :huh
-
When? about 5 years ago, perhaps a tad longer.
In fact when channel 7 first started broadcasting we would get some games twice as the existing channel had an agreement to show the games, so they would show it live and 7 on delay.
every game, every round. now we get less than half.
-
what planet did this happen on? :lol
-
Yeah WTF Al
-
In the redneck wonderland.
-
:lol well for those of us that live in places where you have to wear shoes to work, that never happened
-
you're all backwards hicks then.
Fancy having to wear feet coffins to work ::)
