The radio careers of some of Australia's top sporting stars are under a cloud with sports radio network SEN believed to be seeking voluntary administration.
Management last night was locked in a meeting, but The Australian understands the privately owned business has been struggling under large operating losses. SEN, or the Sports Entertainment Network, employs high-profile presenters such as former AFL players Dermott Brereton, Billy Brownless and Tim Watson. Richmond star Kevin Bartlett and swimmer Nicole Livingstone are also among SEN's presenters. SEN has adopted a unique business model, leasing the radio signal of the former 3AK radio station in Melbourne from Pacific Star Network, and the Australian Radio Network's 5DN station in Adelaide, both of which have been rebadged as SEN. It was launched in Melbourne in January last year, becoming the first radio station to provide sports-focused radio programs, before starting in Adelaide this year. But despite a buoyant radio advertising market SEN has faced an uncertain revenue base after its ratings failed to ignite.
I reckon it would be a shame if they were to go under - been great to have a station talking about footy all day long lol.
As reported in The Australian 26/5/05

I'll miss the station if it goes. I'm sure the people who might be out of a job would even more.
If it's lack of sponsorship that's a problem then maybe someone should let them know that the TAC is at a loose end. 8)

Yep, Billy Brownless, his frothies and the TAC would be a good mix lol :rollin

That will be a blow to me - I listen to it a lot - but I'm not at all surprised.
KB's show is excellent (what a true Tiger ;D ) .
They had to give up Bruce McAveny's show because they couldn't get a sponsor. A lot of the advertisements are repetitious, suggesting to me that they give a lot away as freebies.
Oh well. back to news radio and live broadcasts of parliament (do you think I'm kidding ¿)

No chance of the parliamentary broadcast getting into trouble MJS. Heaps of sponsors, whether they like to be or not. :)

Billy Brownless, his frothies, his obsession with Geelong, and his midless drivel are the reason I stopped listening to SEN's breakfast show. >:(

i liked SEN had huge potential and was based in tigerland. Unfortunately theyve spent to much on hosts who really dont deserve to be there. They only needed one host per shift maybe 2 maximum. Hopefully 3AW buys them out and keeps it going...good format would be
6am-9am: Tony Leonard and Jon Anderson
9am-12n: Clinton Grybas
12n-4pm: Francis Leach
4pm-6pm:Anthony Hudson
6pm-8pm:Network Healy and Russell across both 3AW and SEN
8pm-12m:Mark Doran
12mn-6am: Tony Schebbeci

"Did someone say my name?" :scream
KB, Francis Leach and possible Mark Doran know at least a fair bit about other sports. The rest are pretty much out of their depth when the topic isn't about footy.
It would be sad to see it close down as it gives a very good coverage of all things AFL.

We have MixFm on here at work, and I listen to Gold in the car sometimes and I notice that Xenium and the Maths Computer tutor have both found their way to FM radio :banghead :banghead
