Should be a good game to watch. Looking forward to seeing Tuck and Foley playing through the middle together with Arnot and Lonegan. With the Big O palming it down to them, we should have too much size around the stoppages for them. Then its up to A Edwards and McBean to finish it off. I hope Dea has another good game plus Astbury and Batchelor hold down the backline. How Helbig and Nahas respond after being given a chance and then being dropped back again will be another point of interest for mine.
Derickx will have to start playing out of his skin for the rest of the year if he wants to avoid being delisted at the end of the year. Disappointing for someone of his size and marking capabilities really - just dropped away.
Looking forward to the game almost as much as tonight's tussle :thumbsup Fingers crossed we are injury free when the final siren goes. :pray

Helping was outed with a hamstring. Doubt he will play as he is also not listed!

Foley gets the pass out in traffic and Griffs playing forward marks 20m out. Goal :gotigers

Darrou gives away a sloppy free on Daniher when he had his cold. Poor loose defence from Coburg allows a easy mark to the bombers in their forward 50. Luckily it's only a point.
Coburg go coast to coast. Nick Maric clips the back of the post.

Tucky pinged for a throw (how the ump saw that in the mass of players is anyone's guess). Point to the Bombers.
Dea's pass out of defence misses the target but Coburg force a stoppage on the wing. Tucky then gives away a free on the wing for kicking in danger. Ends up another point to Essendon.
Cob 14
Ess 3

OOTF to Essendon on the wing. McIntosh bombs it to the 50 where the ball spills to Nahas. He tries the dummie but then is forced to snap it forward. Falls short into Nick Maric's arms and he kicks a goal :gotigers.
Verrier then nails a great goal from the boundary :gotigers.

Az Edwards pumps in it. McBean roves and snaps it over his head for another goal :gotigers.

Smother on the wing. Arnot pumps it long and Derickx takes a great mark. Fails to make the distance from 30m out with the breeze :P.
Foley now out of the pack. Nahas marks 35m out. Point.

Derickx. :facepalm :lol.
What a waste of space.

Last 5 mins was terrible footy by both sides.

Essendon 0.5-5
Goals: Griffiths, Tuck, McBean, Verrier, N.Maric

Free kick 6-1 down. More like 15-1. And pretty sure the 1 was for OOTF. ;D :whistle
-
I think it was Astbury who misjudged the ball on the breeze on the wing. Allows the kick in where Dea is outbodied in the marking contest. Essendon goal.
Coburg get the quick reply. McBean crumbs again and swings around his body for a great goal :gotigers

Coburg player Loraine looks to have done his knee. He got a great spoil but did his knee landing.
Essendon run it down for a goal.
Foley out of the middle and Big O now forward marks 20m out. Misses.
Cob 53

Astbury outjudges Daniher to mark in defence. Out to Verrier on the wing. The kick goes towards Nahas on the lead and it's a free. Advantage to Mcbean for his 3rd goal :gotigers

Good desperate 2nd and 3rd efforts by Verrier. Wins the ball over the Foley who finds Derickx 35m out on a sharp angle. He kicks it straight to a Bomber in the pocket :P.
Verrier apparently off the ground after that.
Arnot held too long. Free 30m out. Goal :gotigers

Are they playing Nahas outside 50 feeding the ball in then drifting forward??

The Coburg kick-in from the OOTF goes straight to a Bomber 20m out and gifts them a goal :scream

Most of our inside 50s are coming from our mids. We're killing them in the middle of the ground. Big O is dominant. Actually getting some footy around the ground too linking up. Foley, Tucky, Lonergan, Arnot winning it in the guts. Verrier did some nice things that quarter. McIntosh has been okay. Our defence hasn't been put under much pressure given our midfield dominance. Daniher might turn out to be a good footballer but he's done nothing today to live up to the hype.

What's with the face palm? You face palming me or derickx?
-
Derickx. What a joke.
He won't be on our list next year but today apart from the set shots at goal he was solid. Deserved the praise for his hard work today.
Based on the first 3 quarters which Coburg dominated (Coburg completely switched off in the last (junk time) qtr).
Big O was dominant in the ruck. Tap work to our mids was very good and he also linked up in transition.
McBean is once again the best thing to come out of the game as far as the future and Richmond goes. His hands are top notch now and his mobility for a 200cm guy is freakish.
Foley, Edwards, Tuck would be in the bests also with Arnot and Nahas (second half better than first) vying for the sixth best in the VFL stats. Foley is the good news story as far as Richmond. He'll be back in the side in a couple of weeks.
Astbury was solid in defence. I can't remember a single error from him.
Darrou is a in-betweener for mine. I don't see playing key position defender at AFL level as he is out-bodied at times too easily. Got plenty of the ball so he'll need to become a rebounding defender to progress any further IMO.
The rest of the RFC boys drifted in and out of the game.
-
great reports guys, Getting pumped bout McBean, the wrap on him always was that he was pretty mobile/agile for a beanstalk. Has he filled out much?

Was a Fan of Griff but he's a huge worry. No impact whatsover.Plays timid dare i say it.

McBean is better than Daniher and McBean has gone past Griffiths. Griffiths is a worry. I have always thought he would come through but he is nowhere near it at the moment.

Coburg coach Tim Clarke with his summary of how the Richmond-listed players performed at VFL level on the weekend:
Coburg seniors
Liam McBean
His best game of the year. Provided the team with a really good option up forward. Kicked four goals and took several contested marks. His work-rate at ground level continues to be a strength.
Matt Arnot
Was a valuable contributor on a wing and through the midfield. Picked up around 20 possessions in the three quarters he played, with a good mix of contested and uncontested ball. Also kicked a couple of important goals.
Sam Lonergan
Came on after quarter-time and had an instant impact, picking up several contested possessions. Was really solid through the middle, before becoming a bit restricted when he copped a corked thigh.
Ben Griffiths
Made the move forward and started impressively with an early goal. Led well throughout, but struggled to have an impact on the game.
Tom Derickx
His best game for the year. Presented really well, taking several contested marks. Proved a strong option through the middle of the ground and up forward.
Orren Stephenson
Another outstanding performance. Played a major role in the team’s dominant second-quarter display into the wind, with his strong ruckwork. Again ran hard from the stoppages and was a better option up forward this match, with a couple of shots for goal.
Kamdyn McIntosh
Played a good role across half-back. Continues to find the ball and beat his opponent in the one-on-one contests. Will look to play him through wing at some stage in the next couple of weeks.
Ben Darrou
Had the challenging task of playing on Essendon’s top key-forward prospect, Joe Daniher. Was very good for most of the day, keeping him to just one goal in the first three quarters, but was beaten in a few contests late. A good learning curve for him.
David Astbury
Another player who produced his best game for the year. Was really solid across half-back, cutting off a lot of Essendon’s forward transitions, and was very composed with the ball.
Todd Elton
Was moved to the backline and played his role well. Took a few chop-out marks and produced a couple of good defensive spoils. Is continuing to work on the defensive side of his game.
Jake Batchelor
Played across half-back and provided some good run-and-carry out of defence. Also got involved with a few important chop-out marks.
Matt Dea
Provided great run-and-carry again off half-back. Played a really good role on a talented opponent in Cory Dell’Olio for three quarters, but was beaten a couple of times in final-quarter contests.
Robin Nahas
Had a great game, with plenty of quality, centre-forward football. His run-and-carry was back, and he hit the scoreboard, kicking four goals. Defensive pressure also was good.
Shane Tuck
Was one of the best players on the ground. Won plenty of contested football, surging the ball from contests, and applied considerable pressure to the opposition, with 10 tackles. Contested marking also was a highlight of his game.
Aaron Edwards
Had an outstanding game. Led hard all day and marked the ball much better in this match, finishing with a highly-impressive 17 marks. Was a bit wayward in front of goal, but still contributed well on the scoreboard with two goals.
Nathan Foley
Continued his good form on the comeback trail from an Achilles injury, playing a full four quarters. Won plenty of contested football and showed some impressive run-and-carry. Kicked well, to the team’s advantage, inside-50. Is very close to AFL selection.
Steve Verrier
Played a negating role on an experienced opponent in Nathan Lovett-Murray and restricted his influence on the game. Had more of the ball than in previous weeks and kicked a great goal in the first quarter.
Coburg Development
Gideon Simon
Played in Coburg’s reserves on Sunday. Was very lively across half-forward with his pressure on the ball and opponent. Had several shots for goal and helped set up a couple.

Good to see they read my advice!
Play Griff forward and Elton down back.
I think we can groom Elton to be our version of Essendons Carlisle! Has the body and the nouse to learn to be a backman. Griff is a natural forward although that was his first game there for a long time.
-
McBean's mark in the fourth quarter was a beauty. Glad to see he has been given alot of credit for his game.
