Title: Leadership at Richmond
Post by: yellowandback on May 04, 2013, 10:46:12 PM
When you sift through the ashes of tonight, we were outclassed by a better side, looked fatigued and copped a hammering from the men in white.
I accept that.
What I don't accept - bad decision or not - is Chris Newman giving away that ridiculous 50 metre penalty in the 3rd qtr.
Our leaders has come up short in the past 2 weeks and that moment with Selwood was critical - we just unravelled completely for 5 minutes.
If we can't rely on Chris Newman to hold his nerve and his tongue under pressure, seriously what hope do we have for anyone else on the field?
I was really disappointed with that blatant lack of composure from our ex captain and most experienced player.
It looks like the game is passing him by and he's getting fed up with coming up short.
If that is the case, he should pull the pin.

We are getting shown up a bit in this area lately. Maybe less back patting during preseason and public announcing of how weve rectified how to act under pressure? Hows about putting theory into practice and proving yourself in the heat of the real battle not mickey mouse pre season games.

Time for the leaders to step up and bring the youngsters on board for a big win.
Lids will rise to the challenge as will Riewoldt.
Rance has to lift, eliminate his mistakes and try to give a clean sheet.
Houli must have learnt from his mistakes by now.

It takes belief, determination, drive and resolve.

There will be no excuses and no acceptance of passengers.
This game is an opportunity to galvanize, to strengthen and to elevate morale.

There's no reason these next 4 games are winning games.
It starts now.

We need to shut our mouths both on and off the field.

Where is our captain, why isn't he doing more press conferences etc, etc.........
