Yeah nah
-
Have no idea as to why but have booked to go :-\
-
Just had a look at the AFL website & their travel travel packages on offer. :help
No thanks
Would cost $655.89 if I travelled on the day of the game but would miss the start of the game because the only direct Flight with Virgin gets into Cairns at 4.25pm (game starts at 4.40pm)
No direct Virgin flights home. Cheapest flight home on their web-site means you get back to Melb at 10.30pm :o
if I was to travel a day earlier it would cost $718.07 :o
Glad I booked back in Feb when QANTS flights were on special ;D all up including the hotel $580 :clapping :clapping ;D
Don't think the AFL's www.anygameanywhere.com.au is a winner on the cheap & affordable stakes :rollin

I believe both daniel. Though there is only limited seating, the stands aren't that big. For memory they actually put up temporary seating for the game

Cool see you there. Im lucky wife works with an airline so flights are pretty cheap but for the other guys its so much expensive over $450 return. Not sure many will come up with those prices

Part of the problem re: flights is that it is the last weekend of Vic school holidays, so airlines charge a premium
That's why I always try and book months in advance, works out a lot cheaper.
As i said I was lucky I got in early and the flight up was very cheap, compared to what you'd pay for the some flight right now. Same with Adelaide this weekend; got flights for $150 return (QANTAS), same flights this week would set you back over $300

Used to live in the lovely Cairns, albeit it does rain a fair bit.

Ablett out with a calf injury this week. Calf injuries can be tricky ones to get over as footballers get older so it'll be interesting to see if he recovers in time for our game next week.

After spending 30 minutes in the cue to buy a ticket to the Norf game, all general admin was sold out except standing room. Stupidly bought premium level 2 tickets at $50.
$50 is enough wasted money let alone a trip to Cape York.

Who cares how far the drive, seems a better option than subjecting myself to the torture that is watching the Tigers
-
GC are a very quick side, could do the same as North did to us!
-
Starting to look a little fatigued are GC.
Effort is there but application is starting to wane given where they were about a month ago.
They might be due for a let down and us a perk up. They haven't been really poor all season for a 5-9 side. This week might be the week where they get put to the sword.
Given we lost 3 games in a row went to Adelaide and rolled Port, had a shocker against Essendon and went interstate the following week and prospered against West Coast I think the interstate trip may just be the tonic for the boys.
Need to make another positive statement and I think we have the capabilities to do so.
Motivation most certainly should be there given the opponent also.
-
Don't think it was norths quickness that destroyed us ,but rather the level of their desire to win the ball

Preview: Tigers v Suns
By Nathan Schmook
afl.com.au
Monday, July 8, 2013
SUMMARY
The Tigers (9-5) received a wake-up call against North Melbourne and need to regroup and make a statement to keep their September plans on track. Gold Coast in Cairns, however, has proven to be the club's bogey fixture and four points are not guaranteed this week. The Suns (5-9), who have lost their past three clashes, expect to be boosted by the return of star midfielder Gary Ablett from a calf injury, while Tigers Bachar Houli (hamstring) and Ivan Maric (groin) should return for a crucial match.
WHERE AND WHEN: Cazalys Stadium, Saturday July 13, 4.40pm
TV AND RADIO: Click here for broadcast guide and odds (http://www.afl.com.au/tv-radio/broadcast-guide)
LAST TWO TIMES
R16, 2012, Gold Coast 13.12 (90) d Richmond 13.10 (88) at Cazalys Stadium
R17, 2011, Gold Coast 12.13 (85) d Richmond 9.16 (70) at Cazalys Stadium
THE SIX POINTS
1. The Suns beat Richmond by 15 points in 2011 and by two points in 2012 with both matchers played in Cairns at Cazalys Stadium. Last season the Suns snuck home thanks to a goal after the final siren to Karmichael Hunt.
2. So far Gary Ablett has been the difference between the sides, averaging 30 possessions and polling a total of five Brownlow Medal votes. He is still the clear No.1 in the Official AFL Player Ratings.
3. Richmond has played five 'home' games interstate in their history and has lost all five.
4. Defensively Richmond is well ahead of Gold Coast this season, conceding 85 points per game compared to the Suns 96 per game.
5. The Tigers continue to be the worst tackling side in 2013 ranked last with an average 54.6 per game compared to the Suns, who rank 11th with 61.1 per game.
6. Gold Coast has been impressive in 2013 for clearances, ranked sixth with 39.1 per game. Richmond is 12th with 36.6 per game.

Yeah I agree. I think Hardwick will fire them up and the players will make up for last weeks atrocious efforts. Richmond by 19 points.

Richmond by 2 points!

I just came across a very interesting Nostradamus Quatrain....
"An Army of Yellow and Black with a fear of the 9th number will be soundly defeated in Battle by beasts with Long tails and really big feet.
In search of financial Gain to soothe their wounds, They will head north for solace and deliver retribution amongst the Coast of Riches.
In this battle The Sun shall eclipse, and the army of the Coast will crumble in the notable absence of their great leader.
Victory will be sure and swift and they will return to the great land of the south to triumphant exultation's and the scribes will once again sing their praise."

From the AFL website...
Riewoldt said this Saturday evening's clash with Gold Coast in Cairns held no fears despite the Tigers losing to the Suns at Cazalys Stadium the last two times they've played there.
He said the group was "ready to attack and take the challenge", and a "hoodoo" wasn't a concern after they broke a nine-game losing streak against Carlton in round one.
He also admitted last week's 62-point loss to North Melbourne was a "little bit of a wake-up call" but the Tigers couldn't ignore the positive inroads they'd made the four weeks previous.
"Unfortunately, it was one of those weeks where most our 22 that played didn't play their role," he said.
"We understand that and we know what we can fix.
"Not taking anything away from North Melbourne; they played some really good football and some that we really struggled to combat.
"Hopefully, next time we come up against a situation like that we can put some things in place to stop the flow.
"Last week was a little bit of a hiccup but we know we're still treading a pretty good path and we're taking some steps forward – last week was a little bit of a step back but we learn from it, we move on and we set our sights on the Gold Coast."

Training Thursday ?
-
No excuses  this week not to come out from the first bounce fired up and desperate to work hard for the contested footy, run hard for each other and when the Suns have the footy lift our tackling and defensive pressure. None of this it's all too hard bruise free footy we saw last week otherwise the Suns will hurt us on the spread in an open game like North did ::). Oh and of course actually kick straight between the two big sticks rather than 8.18 :scream. Hopefully we've done some goalkicking practice this week as well.
Training Thursday ?
Friday up in Cairns.
-
Need to kick straight. Don't waste opportunities. Need to win the contested ball. Need increased intensity. In the backline need better coordination North last week got cheap goals from two of our players going for the ball at the same time and taking each other out. If we have the numbers one should stay down to collect crumbs. Need to keep forward line open. Give forwards as much space as possible. Need play like we did against West Coast. Need to win back respect.

Open game?? You've got to be kidding, right? North clogged up our forward line like a severe bout of constipation. The only time last week's game was ever open was on the rebound. As for the 8.18 scoreline, that was a direct result of having to take 90% of our shots from the boundary line, when continually confronted with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, and the cast of Quo Vadis every time we ventured into our forward fifty. Forgive the sarcasm, but Norf's tactics last week are still a very sore point with me. It's nearly a week later, and I'm still filled with an overwhelming desire to tap dance on Brad Scott's smarmy little skull.

I agree RR. Very negative tactics and I hated them because they worked. Classic flood followed by a frenetic race down to their forward line. They beat us with their contested/man-on-man work across the field. They had numbers at every contest and were desperate with their defensive efforts. We were given no room to execute our disposals yet North seemed to. We became hesitate moving the ball forward. We stopped taking risks. We moved away from our natural game. It was the same when we were beaten by Essendone. When we start swinging it sideways across defense regularly, we are lost. This is why Houli's omission is a real worry for mine.

Suns expect ferocious Tigers to turn up
By Michael Whiting
afl.com.au
Friday, July 12, 2013
GUY McKenna believes Richmond rightfully took Gold Coast a bit lightly the past two years, but is expecting them to breathe fire in Cairns on Saturday.
The Suns have a perfect record from two matches in North Queensland, with a 15-point win in 2011 and an after-the-siren triumph last year courtesy of Karmichael Hunt.
Richmond were heavy favourites both times, particularly last year when Gold Coast entered the round 16 match winless.
Suns coach McKenna expects a completely different Tigers outfit on Saturday.
Not only will they be desperate to win the last of three home matches sold to Cairns, but also to turn around last week's 62-point loss against North Melbourne.
"We've had a good record up here against Richmond," McKenna said on Thursday.
"Probably through a lack of, I wouldn't say respect, but an opportunity to rest players. I can't see them doing that this time around given the last two results.
"I'm sure any club in the first two years would have treated us the same given our results.
"We know they're going to come out snorting."

Relief for Tigers with Cairns deal finishing
Paul Gough
Sportal
12/07/2013
...
After last week's shock 10-goal loss to North Melbourne, another defeat to the Suns would again raise all sorts of questions as to the Tigers' mental strength.
And it could again cost the club a finals berth given they still have to face top five sides Fremantle, Sydney (in Sydney), Hawthorn and Essendon in the run home.
Richmond coach Damien Hardwick has exuded calm all week and nervous Tigers' fans can only hope that transcends to the players for what is sure to be a tense afternoon on Saturday in Cairns - particularly with Suns superstar Gary Ablett returning from injury.
But even if the worse should happen again on Saturday, at least it will be the last time.
And Tigers fans can console themselves with the fact that due to the club's vastly improved finances - following a huge lift in membership on the back of the team's improved form - this will be the last time they have to see their club risk four points up north in a game they would almost certainly win if it was played at the MCG in front of the 'Tiger Army.'

will be a tight game regardless of winner due to conditions and Gold coasts improved ability.
Will be happy with a win regardless of score though based on our in's and our experience i would hope for a 5-6 goal win over the suns ;)
Most coaches are wanks, look at the Scott bros for eg.

A game 'we've got to knock over': Conca
By Nathan Schmook
afl.com.au
6:00pm AEST Friday, July 12, 2013
RICHMOND midfielder Reece Conca says the Tigers have moved on from their horror losses in Cairns over the past two years and a "new team" will take on Gold Coast on Saturday night at Cazalys Stadium.
The Suns are undefeated against Richmond, notching upset wins in northern Queensland in 2011 and 2012, but Conca said the Tigers of 2013 were mentally stronger than the outfit that collapsed in the dying minutes of last year's clash.
"We haven't really harped on about the last couple of years … we're really upbeat, really positive," Conca said in Cairns on Friday.
"We obviously haven't got the success we would have liked, but it's a new team, a new year, and we're really pumped to get the win.
"We're a lot more confident with the group we've got, we've got the depth that's pushing through and everyone's really fighting for their spot.
"This is one of those games we've got to knock over."
The Tigers had a light training run at Cazalys Stadium on Friday afternoon, with ruckman Ivan Maric moving freely as he prepares to return from a two-week lay-off with groin soreness.
Conca said a refreshed Maric would be crucial if the Tigers midfielders are to get on top of Gold Coast's emerging onballers, led by returning skipper Gary Ablett.
"They're a young blossoming side and they've got a heap of talent, but I think we've just got to focus on what we can do," he said.
"We've got a talented midfield ourselves, so I think they'd almost be a bit more worried about us than vice versa.
"The experience of Ivan is really good and I think it's going to help us midfielders, especially if he can get on top of their talls in the ruck early."
Conca, who has averaged 20 possessions and 3.4 clearances this season, has played four games since returning from a foot injury, adding to the Tigers' midfield depth.
Back to full fitness, the 20-year-old said the Tigers' second-tier midfielders would be important against the Suns.
"Matt Arnot's come back in and we've had some young guys like Nick Vlastuin and Brandon Ellis really pushing through, which is great," he said.
"It just helps our other key mids, like (Brett) Deledio and (Trent) Cotchin, to do their thing.
"The opposition can't shut everyone in the midfield down."

Foxtel and Bigpond cable in my suburb has been an 'unplanned outage' for the past 3 hours. Anyone else in SE/bayside suburbs copping it too? I'm wondering if its widespread. Not sure if missing out watching this game would be a bad thing yet. Telstra said they're hoping for it to be fixed by 6pm :(

Maybe dwaino after the last two years, Foxtel and Bigpond think they are doing Tiger supporters a favour

Tigers midfielder warns Suns ahead of big Cains clash
Murray Wenzel
Saturday, July 13, 2013
The Cairns Post
AWARE of the dangers a young Suns team possess, Richmond's Reece Conca has reminded everyone that they have a bit of talent of their own.
While the talk has been about silencing star Gold Coast skipper Gary Ablett, the midfielder suggested the Suns should be more wary of what the sixth-placed Tigers can do ahead of today's match at Cazalys.
Both sides arrived in Cairns yesterday and had a light training session in front of the hundreds that turned up in their club's colours.
"Yeah, they are a young blossoming side with a heap of talent," the 20-year-old said as the Suns trained behind him.
"We've got a talented midfield ourselves ... they'd almost want to be a bit more worried about us than vice versa."
Also in their favour is the return of fabled ruckman Ivan Maric, who was a late withdrawal through injury last time the teams played in Cairns.
He missed last week's loss to the Kangaroos and will be provide a massive presence at the stoppages for the Victorian club.
"Ivan's a great player and his experience will help us midfielders," Conca said.
"To get on top of their talls in the ruck early; that'll help our cause. He'll contribute a lot to getting the win."
Recalled Sun Josh Hall will play his first senior game of the season on the same ground where he made his debut last year.
He will pinch hit in the ruck behind Tom Nicholls and admitted the sense of occasion had kicked in when he stepped back out on to Cazalys.
"Yeah it's a bit of deja vu. Last year I was very nervous, my legs were shaking and it's sort of ticked in again now," the Townsville product said.
"It's great to be back up here and I've got a bit of a group coming up to watch again."
Richmond are staring down the barrel of three straight losses at the venue after agreeing to move their home games away from the MCG.
However, Conca said there had been no talk among the players of breaking a hoodoo.
"It's dented our season (losing in Cairns to the Gold Coast) the last few years, but we're upbeat and positive and haven't harped on about it," Conca said.
"New team, new year and we're pumped to get the win."
Despite last week's big loss to the Kangaroos the Tigers looked in a good mood yesterday and the midfielder, who has overcome a foot injury this season to be back to full fitness, agreed they were ready to remedy that blemish.
"It was disappointing. We didn't play the way we'd like but we'll bounce back, we need to stick with what's worked," he said.

Given their position on the ladder and their 'outs' this should be a minimum 6 goal win. The true tests are coming in the Swans and Hawks.

Let's hope we don't stupidly try and play over-possessive via handball dry weather footy what looks like being wet and slippery conditions. K.I.S.S. principle - just get the ball moving forward to gain meterage and then lock it in there to kick goals.
-
Thank gawd Ablett missed in the first 10 seconds.

Whitey long from 55m misses.

Is Jacko tagging Ablett? Junior's had about 4 touches in the first 2 minutes ::).
First goal to the Suns ::).
-
Is there a breeze favouring one end of the ground?
-
We look nervous.
-
We're absolutely struggling.
-
Apparently the Suns have it. Worth 1-2 goals according to Ox.
Not good signs early though. Where's the spark?! :-\

Floss cuts it off. To Ellis and Arnot nice goal :gotigers.
Boy did we need that one.

Can we actually win a clearance Tigers? :help
-
Aaron Edwards in the backline eh...funny how I was ridiculed last week when I called for that and Tuck to come in....oh the forum experts... :whistle
-
Geez we look bereft of ideas already. Continually going wide towards the boundary and still not hitting targets.
Dumb frees as well like that one Whitey.
Another Suns goal ::).

Centre clearances a problem as is disposal efficiency.

Gee whiz if we can't win this one.....
.... Rebuild has failed.

If we don't win this quarter we're doomed.
-
looks like more than a 1 goal breeze to me, more like 3-4!
Stupid Matty White gave away a needless goal. Big qtr coming up, make it count tiges
-
Same thing as last week so far. No pressure on them as they move it through the MIDDLE of the ground, yet we go down the line and only give ourselves the hardest of scoring opportunities.
-
Why would you kick it to a 1-on-2 Edwards? ::)
Lucky they missed. A let off.
9 - 21.
-
:chuck :chuck :chuck :chuck :chuck :chuck :chuck
The way we're playing is making me sick.
-
Seriously what the @#%$%#$^%#$ have the players forgot we lost by 10 goals last week ?! where is the fire ?!
-
Not looking good, cue the chooken poop
-
Wtf was Chaplin doing just standing there while Brown found a nice patch of grass to sit under the ball?
-
Yep NickSimo. This is a replay of last week. Can't see us winning unless our workrate lifts and we stop making stupid mistakes and turnovers. Bruise free lazy footy from us.
Newy long from 70m but Kingy can't get it and it hits the post. Goal chance wasted.

This footy club can just about stick it.

O'Meara uncontested mark I50. What an effing joke

No love for the jumper. pee poor.

Even Dusty, Cotch and Lids' disposal efficiency are all sub-par :help.
-
Foley point.
And now Flossy misses as well. Nothing going right!
12 - 28

Wow this is pathetic. I gave them the benefit of the doubt in the first qtr bc we were against the breeze, but Gold Coast is still running the ball and we still look pedestrian.
Just not working hard enough, pull the finger out you bums
-
This is so de ja vu its not funny. Fumbling, poor disposal, stupid frees, all the ingredients for yet another pathetic result. Any other top 8 team on the rebound from a bad loss would be desperate, sadly it just proves what pretenders we really are.
-
King must kick this goal. We can never capitalize on a breeze.
-
Kingy marks 35m out. Bloody hell :scream.
13 - 28

listening to this tripe on the radio is excruciating - it must be so much worse on tv

More than halfway thru the qtr we are still goalless, stuffing embarrassing

You would swear we psyche ourselves out midweek by trying to convince ourselves "oh we're better and we've learnt from last year" rather than just going to there, being proactive and hard at it and just doing it.
Another point. This time rushed. We can't take a mark to save ourselves.

This game remins of the port game in Darwin, we have NFC, fumbling everything

Best play of the game by us - Arnott started it all by taking the game on and kicking down the middle.

Our forwards are useless. None of them are leading except for King and he's 2 foot tall.
-
Absolutely appalling effort. No composure, cracking under the slightest pressure, players so nervous that they cannot handle the ball, out-coached again ..... How we managed to win the first half, I have no idea.
The coach needs to ask these players if they want to play finals or not. A 50% increase in intensity is needed to win.
-
We need to expand on the lead. Breeze or no breeze. Did like the pressure in the second half of the 2nd quarter
-
WE should be further in front with all the shots we've had but given that 18 mins into the 2nd quarter we had just one goal and looked gone I'll take a 6-point lead at this point.

14 points with 6 min to go in the first half.

Totally agree TM. That's why I'm happy to take the lead. We don't deserve to be. We've only played the last 10 mins of the second half.
The test is this quarter with the Suns having the 4-5 goal breeze. Get blown out of the water on the scoreboard then we'll be no chance come the last qtr. We wouldn't want to be chasing more than a 2 goal deficit at the most with the pressure to play catch up footy on us.

Ok this is it
A good hungry team looking for a rare finals position would go hard this qtr and set up a solid win

I got home just before the end of the second quarter. I thought our third quarter was an outstanding defensive effort from the entire team. That GCS couldnt do anything on the scoreboard in that quarter really helped us win. Thought Chaplin was excellent and Rance not too shabby either with their defensive work. Jackson much to his credit also played really well. Dont know why we keep missing easy shots for goal. You cant keeping missing as much as we do and get away with it for long in the AFL. Vlastuin seems to have lost all form at the moment and probably needs a spell, Foley looked average for mine. Overall though we got the 4 points and thats all that mattered although the last 3 minutes looked like being a repeat of last years stuff up. Hardwick seemed happy at the end of the game ;D

Agreed :thumbsup
Good post Ramps you missed the poo

Dimma's reaction in the box on the siren was priceless lol.
My was pretty good too, hope I'm not on the TV :rollin
Have to say our rotations in the 1st qtr were ridiculous. Players coming off and less than 30 seconds later going back on and not knowing who they had to go too. Best coaching move of the night was when Dimma put Leppa at the interchange to give blokes instructions rather than allowing the fitness guy with clipboard in hand to speak to them (I was sitting behind the interchange)
Thought A Edwards down back worked a treat, good decision maker and good disposal. Petterd was very good apart from 2 OOTF.
Kudos to jacko he was excellent
Conca had shocker and he was ably assisted by S Edwards, King, Ellis
Felt of Jack Reiwoldt he was grabbed and scragged off the ball while trying to lead that many times it wasn't funny. Even less funny when an umpire is watching and does nothing :banghead
Gotta catch my first flight but can I just say:
Campbell Brown is a dog and gutless. Less see if the vision picks up his crude effort by foot on Matty White >:(

It's true what they say. The fruit doesn't fall too far from the tree.

I agree. Brown is a gutless coward who can't play football. His high tackle on Cotch sums him as a player-Talentless hack.
The game never reached great heights and was pretty ordinary but we won.
Highlights- Jackson's game was fantastic. He read the conditions better than anyone else eg his second goal where he kicked it low. He beat Ablett fair and square. Cotch was fantastic. One of the few who disposed cleanly in the packs, Petterd was the pick of the backmen. Deserves credit. His short kicking good but long kicking a worry. His goal saving tackle was a ripper in the second half. Our tackling in the game was very good. Chaplin's kicking was good but dropped a few marks should have taken. Deledio played well.
Thought Aaron Edwards played well and was amazed that he was substituted.
Negatives: Second half of Ellis was very poor. Forward line on the night was poor. Jack seems distracted by contract talks. Martin got a lot of the ball but made some uncharacteristic errors. Agree King, S Edwards and Conca had poor games as did Foley. Foley's disposal in the packs was really ordinary. Kicking for goal a real worry I know the conditions were not good but some of the kicking for goal was average when we had the wind behind us

Newman also played very well
-
Good grinding win, i reckon they were on top for first 40 minutes....from that point we asserted ourselves and not unusually but for poor kicking at goal would have won by a bigger margin. Sane edwards form is a worry, has been ordinary for a few weeks now
-
Hey Bo surely the poor kicking and poor skills had a lot to the do with the fact that half the pacific ocean was blowing across the ground.Agree about titch,he seems to have gone back to trying to do the fancy stuff rather than doing what all good midfielders do,getting it and kicking it.
-
S. Edwards should be dropped for Tuck or McBean.
Has been poor for a while now.
Cant understand people calling for Azza to be dropped. He was good before being subbed, a view shared by Dimma.

I think Shanes hands are too vital in close, I'd rather see vlastuin get dropped to go find some form.
-
Thought Vlas was better than Sheds yesterday and will be more suited to Freo's style.
I would accept Tucky for Vlas though.
-
Yes I also thought Vlas was good yesterday especially early
-
After listening to the press conference it appears that Hardwick regretted his decision to sub Edwards. Houli appears certain to play against Freo. Hardwick seemed to suggest that Grigg would retain his spot against Freo but I think he should be dropped for Tuck.

The win on the weekend was our lowest winning score since Round 3, 1995 when we beat Hawthorn at a rain-soaked Waverley Park.

When I busted my leg managed to drive to the local sports medical - Lachlan Kellaway the forgotten brother was the man who wouldn't touch me and sent me straight to hospital after a quick look, did he play any AFL? I know he played VFA

That was most games Daniel.
I remember playing Collingwood in a low scoring game on a Friday night in 1997 when Benny took 4 or 5 marks in the last few minutes on the members win to save/win a game for us. I think we won by a goal that night. Was the week after we lost to Melbourne when Neale Balme was sacked.

only saw parts of the game but what i did see i was appalled. seriously that was not the performance of a top 8 side. yeah i know the conditions were terrible but they didnt account for the way we went.
maybe i need to sit down and watch the whole game but i cant bring myself to do it it was horrible to watch,

Funny that. I could have sworn we were sixth! :huh

Got carried off that night did Benny. I think he took another match saver with one contact lens missing, maybe against the dogs?

Gold Coast complaining about Morris going low for the ball against Ablett ....
Gold Coast coach Guy McKenna wary of rivals sliding into star Gary Ablett

WAS this a deliberate tactic or just a missed free kick?
VIDEO: http://video.news.com.au/2396945052/MRP-miss-apparent-slide-on-Gary-Ablett-by-Steve-Morris
The Suns are questioning whether illegal sliding tactics are being deliberately employed against superstar Gary Ablett.
Ablett was bowled over by Tigers defender Steve Morris in the third quarter of Saturday night's nine-point loss in Cairns.
The Courier-Mail contacted the Suns after hearing of their concerns.
An official confirmed coach Guy McKenna's protective instincts have been heightened after recent video review sessions.
It is understood Suns officials are wary a trend may develop where opposition choose to slide into Ablett and take his legs out from under him when they have the option of staying on their feet in contests.
McKenna intends to raise his concerns with AFL umpires official Rowan Saunders and will closely monitor contests in coming weeks to see there is a deliberate tactic emerging.
TV commentators Dermott Brereton and Danny Frawley drew attention to the incident, which occurred after a boundary throw-in.
Both expressed surprise a free kick wasn't awarded against Morris for sliding.
"That is the epitome of it, that is a classic,'' Brereton said.
Ablett also appealed for a free kick to the umpires.
There is no sign of malice in the incident and it could be the desperate act of a player with inferior skills paying absolute respect to one of the great ball players in the contest.
Morris appears to arrive at the ball first and could have restricted Ablett from taking clean possession or even won the ball himself had he stayed on his feet.

Or it could be the act of a desperate player paying no respect to a seagull :shh
-
I know, I nearly choked on my breakfast reading that. Up here they think the sun shines out of Ablett's bum. But who really cares about the opinion of some wannabe journalist.
-
Campbell Brown proving once again he's a tool. He said after their game tonight that last week the Suns were the better side and they gifted us the points. Sour grapes Browny :wallywink.
-
Looking at what happens when you leave Ablett to his own devices this week (lazy 49 possession and 2 goals), to keep Ablett to in the 20's possessions last week was amazing. Just proves further how clever the planning by our coaches were and how fantastic Jackson's efforts were. :clapping
Also puts into perspective our win too
