Title: Time for another clean-out!
Post by: Hank44 on May 25, 2013, 10:02:16 PM
We have so much dead wood on the field and we certainly aren't developing any quality players. Be ruthless and make some trades to get some quality draft picks.  Would not be disappointed if we started with Deledio. The guy does not have the ticker to take us to the next level but, he is not alone.

Vlastuin and Ellis are promising players.

Hopefully McBean continues to impress and can slot into the 3rd forward role late this season/next season.

Cant become a good side until we find a decent Ruckman. Maric was bent over tonight. Was embarassing!

I'm pretty happy with the performances of our recent first round selection, but the club just don't seem to develop much outside that.

Glad someone on this forum watches the game
Ryder murdered him tonight

Not enough sadly. If all we have is Vlastuin and Ellis and maybe McBean then this generation of Tigers team will never amount to anything.

Every man and his dog knew we needed another ruck option to help Maric but we didn't get anyone except the big O in the pre season draft.

Pathetic list management.

So throw out the present players who aren't good enough and let the blokes who chose them have another go round.

Only Richmond supporters.   :banghead

Another rebuild is not the answer. Developing better players is. MAric should not have played last night but the Big O was not good enough. Nahas should not have played but we didn't have another outside runner to cover Ellis. Foley shouldn't have played last night but we either overrated him or underrated Arnot. Lonegan....well you get the picture.

We still rely on too few. We need more depth to beat the best and I can see it growing but its still a couple of years away at best. Before the game last night the great TW said in his pregame analysis for SEN that we had the better midfield stars but Essendon had the better midfield depth. Due to this he felt the Dons would win. As much as it pains me to agree with the tanned one, he was dead right. They blanketed our best and left our weaker ball users to run free knowing they wouldn't hurt them.

Lids and Cotch can't do it all. Until either Foley finds his mojo, Martin his fitness and our midfield babies - Vlaustin, Ellis and Conca - develop quickly, we will be beaten in the midfield by the better teams. Maric needs help and Vickery is still too slight to do it. Jack needs assistance and McGuane is not the answer.

Against the big sides we need a better spread of talent. We need depth and development not a rebuild.

Harsh on Deledio as he almost snapped his knee and did well to play.

well, in a way, the match committee need to take a hard look at themselves.

when teams like collingwood and geelong are able to keep putting games into youngsters whilst being very competitive;
whereas we are simply too scared to play young players who have performed at coburg (ie arnot, helbig etc), but rather bring in players like nahas and lonergan who are more seasoned but definitely have no future and are not up to it

disgraceful

How about playing the kids we have on our list and get some experience into them?
In 2010 a policy was adopted where we may knew we had to take a couple of backwards steps to move forward by pruning the list Angelika's getting experience into the kids.
Well right now I believe we are at the crossroads again. However now we are competitive but not quite yet finals bound. Maybe just maybe we should adopt the policy of playing kids now ahead of these toilers, hackers and cloggers and get our list ready to embark on the next stage. Finals.

Finals this year is not out of the question but maybe the kids need to take us there we have enough young blokes there who can attempt to do this.Add Dea, Helbig, Arnot, McBean, Griff, Astbury and others and maybe we may unearth a couple of gems and give us the belief finals can be sustainable with the kids.

There is two scopes of thought either the kids cannot play as evidenced as Coburg with some in recent games or confidence and belief is shot in the system at RFC. Maybe we just need to to worry about finals and do what I have outlined and things may fall into place.

Kids is the answer otherwise any on field success is token and we know how that ends up in heavy Prelim losses, heightened expectations and another decade of false dawns.

Dimma do it.
