Dimma interviewed by Gerard Healy and Dwayne Russell.

Summary:

* Approach to the bye? After the community trip for some of the guys we gave them time off the game. Review of the Eagles game on Monday and then back to normal training. Tried to keep it as normal as possible. We've just gone about our business. We trained well given the guys had the break. Need to take that intensity into the game. Adelaide no doubt will come out firing after their disappointing effort.

* We certainly have a A-gameplan but we also have tweaks for each opposition. No different to other sides. Disappointing this year that we haven't got our offensive game up to the level we consistently want. We haven't played this year to the level we've wanted until last week against the Eagles.

* Jack only kicked 2 but he had an outstanding game. Created space for Vickery and our small forwards. Very rarely Jack plays full forward given match ups but both he and Ty are having their best seasons.

* Expect Dangerfield to go to half-back for 4 mins as part of the midfield rotation rest. We do that with Lids, Cotch and Dusty.

* Real strength last year was pushing mids like Cotch and Dusty forward. We haven't done that as much this year as we've been happy with the 3 guys we've had up forward. So we've had guys resting forward less this year compared to last year.

* Chocco Williams - wouldn't begrudge him going if offered a senior gig elsewhere but we'd be sad to lose him as he's been great for us. Dwayne Russell then mentioned a midseason offer and Dimma said he won't sleep tonight (laughs).

* Didn't get a call from Giesch about umpiring as Hird did before the Dreamtime game. Dimma said that was "bewildering". He assumed it was something Essendon instigated and there was nothing untoward. We've had a good relation with the umpiring dept. The Dreamtime game was our worst game for two years that night so it's a non issue from Dimma's perspective.

* Dimma made a call to arms for every Tiger to get to the 'G this week and cheer the boys on.

Most interesting part of it was that he said he received no call from the Giesch telling him about umpiring interpretation changes like Hird received.

Something is rotten in Denmark!

Not to mention a visit to the rooms from the maggots before the game

WHAT A ******* DISGRACE

Gale should be asking for a Please Explain from the AFL

Giesch needs to hand in his pink fluffy handcuffs and take a long walk of a short pier

Essendon getting their bottoms rubbed with lanolin?
Nooo.
 ::)
LOL the AFL and Melbourne's media fawn over them something shocking.

Very dodgy that we didn't get a call by Giesh.

Not surprised with Caro giving Vlad (Essendon turd) a bath in the media.

stuffing stinks, I said it before, they stitched us up the week before nailing us with every possible bs decision then put the Bummer sniffers at their ease to go hog wild on us while our players were trying to play the new netball they seemed to be demanding from the week before.  stuff these bastards to hell

It would have to breach their own code of conduct.

Absolutely unbelievable.

Hird's umpire chat 'bewilders' Hardwick

RICHMOND coach Damien Hardwick is 'bewildered' that Essendon counterpart James Hird received advice on a shift in umpiring philosophy ahead of their round nine clash when he did not.

Hird said on Saturday he had been called by umpires boss Jeff Gieschen and spoke to the match day umpires before the Dreamtime at the 'G clash on May 25.

He was told the umpires would "only be paying the really obvious [free kicks]".

Hardwick said on Wednesday night the Tigers weren't given the same insight.

"Someone mentioned that to me today, actually. I didn't (receive any information from the umpires)," Hardwick told 3AW's Sports Today.

"It's a little bit bewildering, I suppose."

Hird said he expected his rival coaches had received the same information.

"Jeff Gieschen gave me a call a couple of weeks ago and explained that's what they'd be doing," Hird told Saturday's pre-game show on 3AW.

"And just speaking to the umpires before the game – maybe it was the Richmond game – the umpires came into our room and talked about how they'd only be paying the really obvious ones.

"I'm sure that's happened to all of the other coaches because there was sort of a change in mindset three or four weeks ago.

"I think they would have told all the other coaches that as well that they're going to go for the obvious ones and it seems to be a better game because of it."

While Hardwick was confused by the fact the Tigers didn't receive the same call, he said the club generally had a solid relationship with the umpiring department and suggested the Bombers might have been the ones to make contact.

"We've certainly got an open dialogue with the umpiring department at all times so it's whether or not it was initiated by Essendon, I'm not too sure," he said.

"The umpiring department, if we make a phone call, they certainly respond and come back to us so I don't think there was anything untoward.

"I just think it might have been a phone call maybe initiated by Essendon and they responded.

"At the end of the day, that had nothing to do with the result. We were incredibly poor and it was probably our worst game for some two years that night.

"From my point of view, it was a non issue."

Giesch is still on his midseason "holiday". So don't expect any answer from him.

Always been a fan of Deledio at FF, is a natural for the position and there have been a couple of times this year where shifting him might have helped him break the shackles.

Pretty much when Crowley goes to him. Crowley is a poo house full back and yet Freo will play him there on Lids.

Even opposition supporters think what Geisch did or rather didn't do was suss....

Why the hell are umpires going to the Essendon rooms prior to a game and explaining how they're going to umpire, and then not giving Richmond the same courtesy? That could be construed as cheating. This whole thing seems fishy to me. The Geish need to be moved on before he further erodes the integrity of the game.
