The AFL site has an article about kicking efficiency within the league.
Using Champion Data, every kick is classified on 5 points
1 Length of kick
2 Direction ( Forward, sideways or backwards)
3 Field position ( eg from defensive 50 to midfield)
4 The amount of pressure applied to the kicker
5 Intended target ( stationary, leading or goal)
A leauge average was calculated and then players were assesed against this average.
Using this criteria, Troy Chaplin lead the defensive rebounding category, at 24% higher than the expected average.
Surprising considering the reputation as a turnover merchant in the backline he had at Port
The only other tiger to feature in the top 6 for their catagory was Jake King as the league's 6th best kick for goal. Another surprise.
Overall Richmonds ranked 12th in the league, using this formula :'(

Yep, according to the stats, overall we kick slightly below the expected hit target rate. From 1842 kicks, we've actually hit the target at 62.8% for kicks that have an expected hit rate of 63.4%.
As an aside, Jake King's goal accuracy is well above average (5th best in the AFL). For the set shots he's had, he is going 11.2% above the expected conversion rate.

These ones sum it up. He doesn't pick out a target but because he bombs it from D50 anywhere he can it registers as effective
