Western Bulldogs chase Tiger champ Wayne Campbell for senior administration role

RICHMOND concedes it is a strong chance to lose Tigers Hall of Famer Wayne Campbell as the new Bulldogs head of football.
Campbell is seen as hot favourite for the role vacated by incoming Hawthorn head of football James Fantasia.
North Melbourne's Cameron Joyce is also a contender for the role, with the Dogs vowing to beef up salary cap and football department spending.
There are as many as four clubs now in the market for a head of football, with Melbourne making an appointment one of its top priorities under chief executive Peter Jackson's restructure.
Campbell spent several years as an assistant at Whitten Oval, and now splits his time between the Tigers' leadership program, opposition analysis, and work with the VFL team.
It means he is a rising star of football administration, and would be likely to be heavily courted by rival clubs with vacant roles if the missed the Dogs' job.
North Melbourne is also in the market for a footy boss, given football manager Donald McDonald will step sideways with the introduction next year of son Luke to the club's playing list.
North is weighing up elevating list manager Joyce and development manager Jon Haines to enhanced roles, or searching outside.
Essendon, too, will have to consider the make-up of its football department, which could see it in the market for a new head of football.
The lack of a clear chain of command was seen as one of the club's major failings during last year's supplements scandal, with Steve Alessio hired as the Bombers' football operations manager in January.
Danny Corcoran, one of a number of Essendon officials under pressure in the ASADA-AFL investigation, has the title of general manager of football operations.
Geelong's head of football Neil Balme has ruled himself out of a move back to the Demons, with Collingwood's Geoff Walsh also staying put.
Geelong's team performance manager Steve Hocking has been a target of rival clubs but insists he is happy at Simonds Stadium.

Not surprised really, cambo is fairly highly regarded in footy circles outside of a fringe group of richmond supporters :lol
-
why haven't we taken to cambo like we have to other Richmond champions?

Stupidity.
I loved the guy, was a gun player and bled black & yellow.
Got rid of the Geisch too. :thumbsup

Can't see him taking the job.
Has been at Richmond through some tough years over the past 2 decades, we are finally looking like we are about to have some success. I have a feeling, 300+ games, hall of fame member and nearly a decade behind the scenes helping us off feild, Cambo will want to be around for finals and success.
Couldn't blame him for leaving if they double his wages. I'd certainly leave my job to the competitors for twice the pay packet.
Can't see him leaving for any other reason.

I think he prob will take it, he hasn't got a very senior role, maybe he had designs on Dan richardsons role ... :shh

campbo is a gun
tiger champ and should have everyones respect

Building a nice CV this bloke. Will be the perfect candidate for the RFC senior coaching job in a few years

Don't think he will be taking any coaching jobs in the future.
ATM he is in charge of the team putting together Richmond's VFL team.
That means he is effectively the VFL Head of Football.
IMO he will go the same way as Chris Bond - realises after a few years as an Assistant Coach that he is better off going for the admin role.
I know it's hard for posters to think of any role outside of coaches but the admin role is a lot more secure and almost as rewarding.
Geez just look at Schwab, Wright, Jackson. It's hard to not get a job once you're in that slot.
Unlike a coaching career, if you fail as an Administrator you'll easily get another shot.

Well it lookos like Wayne Campbell isn't going anywhere
Missed out on the Bulldgos job

Lowe promoted as Bulldogs new football manager
By Ben Collins

THE WESTERN Bulldogs have promoted New Zealand-born Graham Lowe to the position of head of football.
The internationally-experienced Lowe joined the Bulldogs late last year as the club's high performance manager, and was identified as the standout candidate to fill the position left vacant by the departure of James Fantasia to Hawthorn.
Richmond assistant coach Wayne Campbell had been mooted as a potential candidate for the role.

They obviously couldn't afford a quality footy person of the calibre of Campbell so they went with the cheap kiwi guy they already had at the club.
Poor ol' doggies will always struggle to get quality.

just like we went for Cameron a few years back?
