having had a read of that forum a few times over the last week Im surprised they didnt take it down beforehand. The level of slander, defamation and vitriol including threats to people including journos and afl administrators from many of those posting was an absolute disgrace.

I'm a male in a male dominated workplace and have been copping it as well until I spoke with the OHS guy about the stress it was putting me under and how it is considered bullying...haha, :)
They know how much Essendon means to me and it just sucks they get so much entertainment out of my distress. It's got to the point I'm dreading going to work

How about the notion of Essendon withdrawing from the AFL and starting an Australia wide "Super League" similar to World Series Cricket backed by someone you has a bit more filthy lucre than me?

We are not in denial over what occurred. We know we were not as good as we could have/should have been and we have taken steps to improve our internal governance & processes as Little has pointed out.
Whilst hindsight is the easiest wisdom to acquire a desire to have a cutting edge sports supplement program that was legal & safe should have been matched by an equal desire to put in place checks & balances on that program to ensure it was so BEFORE starting the program. Clearly we didn't do this but seems we very quickly identified this and have rectified it. It would be for this reason - in the absence of ASADA having evidence we doped (which they don't) - I can see why the AFL would fine us with possibly half the fine suspended for 3-5 years to ensure we had good governance & processes protocols in place for our sport science program and subjected ourselves to regular audits. That would both be a just punishment for not taking the action we should have taken originally but also acknowledgement we have learnt & diligently applied our lesson.
Yet, for being transparent we are getting absolutely whacked by the AFL with zero acknowledgement or thanks (heaven forbid) for the steps we have taken. :o :o
The issue seems to be the AFL's vindictiveness towards individuals - Hird the most obvious - and the AFL's unbending desire to hit us with charges & sanctions that we do not believe warrant where we went wrong. :o :o
It's hard to understand why the AFL is seemingly intent on destroying us. :o :o They either have a deep belief that our wrongs are gravely worse than we believe them to be or they have something to cover up and hide and the best way to do it is to bury the EFC and four individuals so deep that anything we say is then discredited.

The AFL as custodians of the game don't realise the damage they are doing. They can't see the forest from the trees. They are going to turn off a lot of Essendon people and many other fans of other clubs who will just stop watching and paying any attention to AFL. Sport is a very competitive industry. If the game isn't growing in terms of crowd numbers and tv viewers they're not going to get the same level of revenue from tv deals and the like. They're shooting themselves in the foot.

Dees and norf fans are the first to lay the boots in, imo it is because they can quickly deflect how poor a club they are.
Just like in school, they are the fat ugly kids with no friends but when the bullies (carl, ess, coll) get stuck into the kid on crutches and broken jaw, the fat ugly kids join in.
They are weak and pathetic these supporters, you have to remember tgese are the same supporters who follow are team that are so bad they pull on the chest of their jumper to celebrate kciking goal because its such a rare stuffing event ::)
