I don't get McBean. Have you all watched the highlights from Coburg? The pressure is nothing like AFL level. He'll be ineffectual just like McDonough was today.

gotta reward the kid for his efforts in the 2s. Id play him at Full Forward and move jack to CHF. The Bean leads good has good speed and can catch the footy. He'll be ok.

Hell be better for the game in two three years time even if ineffective

He's a tall half forward flanker / forward pocket like franklin - not key position IMO

If play jack + Vickery and mcbean hff

If we want a Chf Elton or Griffiths would struggle to less worse than mcgaune.  If they want someone smaller ohanlon.

The Aaron Edwards / mcgaune experiment isn't good

The players not selected today we missed terribly

Missed White's pace terribly today. S Edwards has butchered the ball a lot lately. I'm not hurting for him to come back. Newy would be nice though.

Yeah I heard he was not sure what with though. Maybe hammy tightness?

Has had a good year Whitey. Didn't think he had it in him...

Maybe not O but you have to expose the kids to that senior tempo so they understand it and can work on raising their game to the level required.  Next weeks game would be ideal to blood a couple of newbies and put a healthy fear of mortality into the ego-centric bunch of front runners that donned our jumper today.

Yes tightness in the upper hamstring

If he is fit White should come straight back in

But the last 2 players we said had hamstring tightness King & S Edwards have missed 3 and 2 weeks

Agree on the White bit. Missed his link running with the mids his defensive pressure off half forward and his goal kicking ability today. After quarter time Whitey would have been invaluable for us today.

Out McDonough, Petterd, Astbury
In White, Newman, King

I actually agree with, depsite my better judgement saying we need momentum and confidence going into finals its not gonna happen with plenty of our better players not right and other down on form who wont make up for the slack

they wont be dropping Grimes, Astbury will go first (rightly way too tentative and indecisive for mine)

Reckon they wont risk Reiwoldt next week either, even though they had no problems risking inthe last 10 minutes yesterday  :-\

Only because Helbig would be one of those players that for finals would in the "next" group, the emergencies behind the first choices if that makes sense

The Barometer - Round 22
Herald-Sun
Tuesday, August 20, 2013

RICHMOND

ON THE BLOCK: Some injury issues but none are too serious. Jack Riewoldt hyper-extended his knee when he landed awkwardly in a marking contest late in Saturday’s loss to Carlton, but scans have cleared him of any structural damage. Trent Cotchin suffered a bruised shin and Ricky Petterd hurt his hammy in his first game back from a groin injury. First-gamer Matt McDonough struggled to adjust to the pace at the top level, Shane Tuck started as the sub again (but was good when he came on – again), and Dustin Martin played arguably the worst game of his career.

ON THE CUSP: Shane Edwards (hamstring) and Jake King (hamstring) are both ready to go and Matt White should be right after he was a late withdrawal on Saturday with hamstring tightness. Coburg was smashed by Box Hill with few standouts, although Robin Nahas, Aaron Edwards and Sam Lonergan remain in contention for a senior call-up. The worst news from the VFL was a likely season-ending ankle injury to promising big man Liam McBean. But scans cleared the young forward of bone damage, Tigers say he'll be ready for the start of preseason.

AL PATON’S FORECAST: Richmond is not only getting used to the idea of playing in finals again, it is also trying to get the hang of late-season player management. Coach Damien Hardwick indicated the Tigers won’t be taking any risks with players who have slight niggles, so it would be no surprise if Riewoldt, Cotchin, Newman and even White were given a rest against GWS this weekend. Meanwhile, the coaching staff need to figure out what’s happening after quarter-time – in the past two weeks the Tigers have kicked a combined 14.4 in first quarters and 14.21 for the rest of the match. Not something they will get away with in September.

RICHMOND - In the Mix

Jack Riewoldt will have to pass a fitness test on his knee and is in doubt although scans have cleared him of structural damage. Trent Cotchin (bruised shin) is more likely and Ricky Petterd (hamstring) will be monitored throughout the week. Chris Newman (ankle) and Matt White (hamstring) will have tests while Shane Edwards and Jake King are expected to be available. Given the Tigers are playing Greater Western Sydney, there isn't likely to be a push to play anyone under serious duress. Liam McBean won't get a senior debut in his first year after injuring his ankle in the VFL but Robin Nahas put his hand up for a recall with 31 disposals, as did Brad Helbig (27) and Matt Dea (26). - Jennifer Phelan

Couldn't agree less !  The next two games are vital. I wouldn't be resting anyone unless they're injured. Have a look at what flirting with our form did to us in the second qtr on Saturday.
You need to hit the finals in some form. We'll win this week but if we were to lose to Essendon in round 23 that'd be 1 win from our last 3 games with losses against very ordinary teams in Carlton and Essendon. We will go straight out of the finals if that's the case.
Win the next two and we go in having won 4 of our last 5 games. Then we can make an impact.

Changes -
In - King , S.Edwards
Out - Petterd , McDonough ( both omitted )
