@BrettAndersonIF: ex-Geelong and more recently Carlton recruiter, Luke Williams has joined Richmond. Great get by the Tiges! #AFL
:clapping
Edit: altered title to include name
-
Luke Williams only joined Carlton in May this year so it was only a short stay there. Hopefully he can give us some insight into Geelong's recruiting methods and network.
@kristianpisano:- "Highly-regarded recruiter Luke Williams is now at Richmond. Had a short stay at Carlton, former right-hand man to Stephen Wells."

Luke Williams resigns from Blues' recruiting team just weeks before national draft
SCOTT GULLAN HERALD SUN
NOVEMBER 19, 2013 5:45PM
CARLTON'S draft planning has been disrupted by the sudden resignation of key recruiter Luke Williams.
Williams was lured to Carlton from Geelong in what was lauded as a major coup in May given he'd been the right-hand man to guru recruiter Stephen Wells.
He was brought in to work under Carlton's national recruiting manager Shane Rogers with the Blues keen to tap into the valuable intellectual property he gained from 14 years with Geelong.
Williams left Visy Park two weeks ago with personal issues believed to be the reason behind his departure.
Carlton is adamant that the loss of Williams hasn't impacted on its preparation for tomorrow night's national draft where they have seven picks, starting at No.13
"He's been gone for a couple of weeks," Carlton chief executive Greg Swann confirmed last night. "All the work was done so it's not an issue from a preparation point of view."
There is a chance Williams could return to the Cats given they had still not filled the position he vacated six months ago.

Nope. Gigantor said he gave personal reasons as his excuse. Didn't say he had personal issues. Therefore you're wrong that he's wrong. Get a clue man :shh

Getting a succession plan going.
Great work Benny again!
-
So is this considered a recruiting coup? or is he just run of the mill andwhy did he leave Geelong in the first place?
-
If you had the opportunity to work with the gurus that picked up Josh Bootsma and Levi Casboult wouldn't you jump at the chance?
-
Here's to hoping Carlton implode.

I have worked with Luke previously and can confirm he is as professional and prudent as you can possibly get.
He will be looking after the state league competitions and scouting at his new club. The main reason why he left Carlton is his job brief changed when he initially got there.
At Geelong, Thompson and Scott gave Wells & Luke a brief as to what type of players they required in their list management decisions. They also had a dedicated list manager who would relay this message.
At Carlton, despite McKay, Malthouse was effectively the list manager and called the shots even telling Rogers and Luke what specific draftees to recruit after they had given him their dossier. I can't say this is the reason he left but Malthouse was told or taken away from having a direct role in recruiting in Collingwood after Hine and Walsh believed the Geelong model worked best without the coach coming in.
-
They changed the father/son rules?
-
“We had been looking for a while at bolstering our recruiting resources and, when someone of Luke’s calibre became available, we were very keen to secure his services," said Richmond’s General Manager of Football, Dan Richardson.
Williams will work closely with Richmond’s Recruiting Manager Francis Jackson, Recruiting Officers Matthew Clarke and Richard Taylor, and the Club’s General Manager of Player Personnel and List Management Blair Hartley.
