Title: Rounds 1 to 5 - Will we get off to a flyer?
Post by: one-eyed on January 17, 2014, 03:01:52 AM
The Herald-Sun is predicting us to win 4 of our first 5 games this season.

RICHMOND

Gold Coast (MS), Carlton (MCG), W Bulldogs (ES), Collingwood (MCG), Brisbane Lions (G)

Prediction: 4-1

The opening rounds will tell us as much about how far the Tigers have come in their heads as on the field. Last year Richmond finally broke its duck against the Suns but Round 1 is still a danger game at Metricon (where the Tigers have never played), then comes a rematch against finals conqueror Carlton. In three encounters against the Blues last year the Tigers opened up a big lead only to be mowed down each time (holding on in Round 1 thanks to Chris Yarran's wayward boot). If they can erase those mental demons, it will be standing room only on the bandwagon.

Gold Coast worries me most out of these games. They have alot of talent and I predict they will be knocking on the door on top eight if not in there already at the end of year.   I am saying 4-1 too but the one loss might be different to what most think.

Reckon we can win all 5

But most likely seeing us being 3-2 or 4-1

Wouldn't be at all surprised if we drop one of the games people reckon we are a lock to win eg Doggies or Lions  ;D

Would love to be 5-1 and no reason we can't be, Collingwood is the only danger for mine.

GC - danger game. They're not a pushover anymore.
Carlton - quite possibly lose again here.
Footscray - likely win despite their marked improvement late last year.
Collingwood - probably lose. Just can't beat these clowns... Taylor Adams will probably rub it in our faces.
Brisbane - likely win since we usually best them.

All in all 2-3 wins out of 5. Anything more than 3 and I'll be very happy.

As I have always said "Richmond are the only team in the AFL that can lose the UN-losable game" EVERY BLOODY TIME.
But, now I think that may change, although I'm still not convinced that we can't be let down so easily and so often.

Let's hope years of negative feelings starts to disappear this year.

the fact we have games considered unloseable means we are improving. Don't remember what they feel like.  :shh

i kinda agree. reckon they are getting very close to getting enough preseasons thus size and strength , and games experience behind them. add in the fact they had a lot of injuries last yr to what experienced players they did have.
good injury run easy draw continued inprovement from many talented kids and what experienced players they have on the park  and most clubs nightmare will began to emerge.
so much latent potential and it could be this yr it starts to translate into finals.  if its not this yr you can put your money on next yr.

Footscray beat Carlton last year. They're a chance vs us. Brisbane will beat us now that they have Leppa. He knows our side

I have high hopes for the start of the season. Minimum 3 wins with a potential 4 or 5 game winning streak start. From what I understand Hardwick has really gone after the players this preseason fitness wise and all of our players should be running on top of the ground at the start of the season. For me the season will pan out like this
1) we will start really well
2) we will have a lull in the middle and
3) we come home like a freight train
