All the slagging I gave McGuane over the years now he's gone. Way more effective up front than in defence as was proven last year.
Who thinks we will regret the decision for him to move on and how many games will he play for Brisbane?
I am asking because all the talk about Griffiths and Astbury probably indicates our management of talls at RFC.
We certainly got it correct with big Gus.
So do we think the coaching staff got it right? I think they did.
-
He wanted to leave. Was offered a contract to stay at RFC but declined stating he needed to revitalise his career.
Always considered him an honest footballer. Short on talent but not on guts. There's only so much you can expect from people like this who give it a crack.
Hope he does well, no hard feelings from me.
EDIT: Oh, and I predict maybe 10-15 games @ 1.5 goals/game.
-
I think the more appropriate question will be how long will it take for him to run into his first goal post in a lions jumper.
-
All. McG is a star and will be their best forward kicking around 50-60 goals. The RFC will be kicking themselves that they let him go.
-
"regret" and "luke Mcguanne leaving" just don't go together.
he filled a role OK, but its time for someone more skilled to step up.
-
Big question is have they retired the #16?
-
After recently watching the movie " Moneyball ", I started thinking about all the spuds we have at Richmond ....you could make a convincing arguement in keeping Luke on the list.
Stats don't lie. 35 goals ( 20 behinds) in his last 21 games for the tigers. Higher average than Azza.
Not bad for the " third tall" .
He may of looked like Forrest Gump at times but was getting the job done on close to minimum wage.

They should've got rid of Azza Edwards instead. He's poop

Big question is have they retired the #16?
They're saving it to present to the next player they see as capable of kicking 2 or 3 goals in the first qtr and then not touching the ball for the next three qtrs

You should have a read of the book, Mat. it gives you a much better understanding about what money ball was all about than the movie. Its a good read.
( i have both pdf and audio book, can probably get the pdf to you, but could probably only give the torrent link for the audio book. PM if interested)

4 touches in 95% game time from Luke last night. Who was minding him?

No one, just like when he played for the Tiges be is not rated by the opposition
-
Thought his game was the one positive for Richmond last night.

Chaplin. Far too good for Luke coming in off a knee injury.
-
McGuane another example of one of the many list cloggers to have worn the yellow sash
-
Great game.
Instrumental in the win.

Knee sounds chronic looks like we dodged a bullet.
-
Bit harsh you blokes
Battled hard for us
Won us a game last year
His knee was gone 3 weeks before our first final last year
His knee was always going to be an issue at Brisbane
