SuperFooty remembers some creative AFL pre-season jumpers from the past

THERE have been some hits, but also more than a share of misses.
The pre-season is a time for AFL clubs to trial many things - yes, including jumpers - ahead of another gruelling campaign.
Over the years most clubs have had a go, tinkering with their age-old, tried and true winner that their loyal fans grow to know and love.
And they aren't afraid to stray from tradition.
Sometimes it's to trial a clash jumper for later in the season. Perhaps it's just a good opportunity to show off a sponsor's name.
On the day St Kilda gave footy fans a look the jumper its players will be wearing during NAB Challenge matches this pre-season (well done to the fan who designed that number, we like the retro look), SuperFooty has taken a quick look back through the archives at some of the pre-season doozies from yesteryear.
As you can see below, some haven't been too bad and wouldn't be out of place on an AFL field this season.
But some you look at, shake your head and just have to say, 'what were they thinking there?'

No sash? Richo couldn’t believe this Richmond jumper ... He’d also just given away a free kick in the Wizard Cup Grand Final against Port Adelaide in 2002. Port won by 9 points, for the trivia buffs. News Limited

Haha! Sweet Geez that Hawforn one is horrendous.
I actually like the one Cho is wearing.
-
The RFC shouldn't have even featured , quite ok, maybe the silver one was ordinary. Apart from Ritchie's best ever game in it

Cmon Bill
Nothing screams certainty more than Burgundy/Brown, yellow and blue diamonds with white trim.
"We love our club and we play to win" :lol

I would have thought that Carlton m&m's light blue pansy jumper is right up there…..
-
I've got that claw one, love it
-
I too thought the claw design was one of our better ones.
Our worst jumper design IMO would be between the one we wore against Glenelg in a night comp. back in the late 70s (orange and yellow vertical stripes IIRC) and the one based on our 1908 guernsey that we wore against St Kilda when Spud was coaching us (around 2003?) and we lost by 80 points :P.

I liked that 1908 one. Worst has to be the grey silver top taxis 2004 pre season one

Hawks one gee that would break mirrors.
Richmond haven't really had a horrendous jumper.
Essendon's grey is up there with the Hawks one in the hideous stakes.
-
Brisbane Bears brown/maroon and yellow arrangement. Worst jumper evarrrrr! :chuck Watching Brad Hardie in one of these was LMAO!!
