Tigers launch “Coming Home Hero”
Tony Greenberg
March 21, 2014 3:23 PM
Richmond will pay special tribute to its former players, who left an indelible mark at Tigerland, with a new home-game theme for MCG games throughout the 2014 season.
The “Coming Home Hero” is designed to publicly recognise the mighty deeds of those who wore the famous Yellow and Black jumper with such distinction.
The concept will be launched at the MCG next Thursday night (March 27), when the Tigers take on Carlton in a Round 2 blockbuster clash.
One Richmond legend is to receive due recognition during the pre-game build-up at each Richmond MCG home fixture (10 in total) for season 2014.

The Tigers will pay a special tribute to their four-time premiership player and Team of the Century member during the pre-game build-up at Thursday night’s Round 2 blockbuster against arch-rival Carlton at the MCG.
Green, who played 146 games for Richmond in two stints – 1966-71 and 1973-75 – will walk from the centre of the ground to the Punt Road end, where he’ll receive due recognition from the Tiger Army.
Tickets are on sale for Thursday night's big clash against Carlton. Buy your tickets here.
He will then proceed to kick a ceremonial goal, before signing the ball and handing it to a Richmond fan in the crowd.
Highlights of Green’s stellar career at Tigerland will be shown on the big screen during this time.

Headline on the club's website in a month:
The club has temporarily halted the "Coming Home Hero" pre-game activity due to an unforeseen glitch in the programming. The score from the Hero's who have participated so far is 0 goals, 4 behinds and 1 out on the full, and to prevent further embarrassment to both the Hero's and the club, it has been decided to postpone the activity until all future Hero's have demonstrated a capacity to kick straight from the point of the goal square. One alternative being discussed is to have all Hero's handpass to Kevin Bartlett in the square who will kick truly for them, while it has also been suggested that the club could install large inflatable barriers on each side of the square, similar in style and purpose to the children's gutter guards used in 10 Pin Bowling but this latter suggestion may have a flaw if the Hero fails to make the distance with his kick, rendering the activity pointless.
