Deledio: We haven’t got any scars

Richmond midfielder Brett Deledio cannot wait to get on the MCG tomorrow night in front of a massive crowd to face Carlton in a big game for both clubs.

Both the Tigers and the Blues had poor losses in Round One and a great deal of pressure and scrutiny awaits the loser of this famous clash.

“Yeah it’s been built up a bit by the outside sources, I don’t think the clubs are building it up as much, well the players certainly aren’t.

“I saw a photo of the G and it looks in immaculate nick so I’m looking forward to getting out there with as big a crowd as possible,” Deledio said on Morning Glory.

The Tigers have only beaten the Blues once in their last 12 encounters which prompted Anthony Koutoufides to suggest his former club had a psychological edge over the men from Punt Road Oval.

“We haven’t got any scars there, obviously we’ve let a few leads go but that’s been as much Carlton’s good play as our bad play.”

The expectations at Richmond are significantly higher than when Deledio, still only 26 years-old, made his debut in 2005, which made defeat to the Suns hard to take.

“I go into every game expecting to win which is a far cry away from where we were when I first started.

“Even though it was a close loss it just felt like we got pumped by 10 goals, it was just so disappointing especially after the way we had performed in the NAB Challenge.”

The dual Jack Dyer Medal winner weighed in on the centre bounce conversation saying he would prefer the umpires to keep bouncing the ball.

“Well one of them cost us a goal against the Gold Coast the other night so I can see reasons why you would (do away with the centre bounce) but I’m a bit of a traditionalist, I like the bounce and it creates a bit of uncertainty which our game is.”

Bloody lids.
Talented player but still doesn't go at his best.
Could have been a legend.
What a waste.

Rewind the last ten years of lids vs Carlton

He usually kills it

The other blokes in yellow and black  ...

At 26 years old - I reckon if like lids retires wit a couple flags he deserves legend status. Lol @ lids signing for five here with this club, while Gibbs is asking to see draft week tactics
