The big monster :clapping
-
Pretty handy side just quietly,...punt rd nursery humming along like a well oiled machine, my mail is to expect a demolition of the box hill hawks , we re unstoppable at punt rd :shh
-
Good to see Dea back.,he is one I think can take it to the next level. IMO we need more blokes with more desperation in the back half. We are pretty soft really. Between him and Morris someone is going to get hurt. Bring that on.
-
Ill be there :thumbsup
-
Maric to Miles to McBean. :shh

Stephenson wins a free kick in the middle, finds Aaron Edwards on the lead and he goals from 50. Great start!
But Box Hill have replied and lead by a point.

Elton mark not paid (even the Hawk-supporting commentators said he was stiff). Box Hill run it down for another goal to them.
Then we almost give away a double goal with a Tiger defender dumping a Hawk in their forward line. Luckily the Hawks miss.

Free to Banfield for push in the back. The breeze pushes his set shot wide and he misses.

There is a breeze but the Hawks have lifted their workrate and pressure.

Just one goal and outscored with the breeze says it all. We're been very ordinary since 1/4 time. No system forward of centre. Just bomb and hope.
This could blow out in the last qtr with the Hawks having the breeze.
-
I'm heading off to the 'G now. If someone could post score updates during the last quarter and final scores/goalkickers, it would be much appreciated :).

Lost 8.12 to 13.11 ...... Bachelor subbed out with an achillies injury

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Ivan Maric’s return to football through the VFL was dampened by a 29-point loss to Box Hill at the ME Bank Centre on Saturday afternoon.
Maric, who only played a half in his first match since last season’s elimination final, had 10 disposals, 13 hit-outs and four clearances in the loss. He used his body well, ran hard and dutifully assisted fellow ruckman Orren Stephenson.
The Tigers started well, sparked by fluent inside 50 entries and strong marking by Aaron Edwards. He kicked the Tigers’ first major and then turned provider, setting up another goal kicked by Luke Conca, giving the team an early lead.
Experienced pair Ricky Petterd (28 disposals) and Brad Helbig (22) were strong across half-back. They spoiled, marked and rebounded well all day.
Matt Dea delivered an impressive performance in defence, his best since returning from a hand injury. He found a lot of the ball and often beat two opponents in marking contests.
The Hawks piled on seven goals in the second term, despite another impressive display by Anthony Miles. The ultra-consistent midfielder finished with 31 disposals and combined well with Nathan Batsanis, who continued his run of form with another strong showing.
Matt Thomas was superb in the middle and also finished with 31 possessions and 10 clearances. He was a stand-out contributor in-and-under packs, with 20 of his touches coming from contests.
After half time, the teams traded goals but the Hawks remained in control. The Tigers struggled to reduce the margin with poor conversion at times, but a terrific chase from Stephenson stopped a certain Box Hill goal.
Despite the margin, the Tigers never stopped working and were valiant in their loss to the VFL powerhouse.

Richmond VFL coach Tim Clarke's summary of how the AFL-listed players performed at VFL level in Saturday’s loss to Box Hill:
Matt Thomas
31 disposals (20 contested), 6 clearances, 5 tackles
He was a real bull for us inside (the midfield). We expect him to do that at VFL level and we expect him to play very similarly at AFL level. He brought a great attitude to the VFL, which was terrific to see.
Ricky Petterd
28 disposals, 7 inside 50s
He really stood up again. He went back and played in defence after we lost a backman, his flexibility is a real asset. We need him to continue to play really good footy so he can get back in the senior side.
Dylan Grimes
11 disposals, 5 tackles
Dylan played a very good defensive game. He gave us some drive offensively but his main role was to negate one their main forwards which he did quite well.
Jake Batchelor
Batchelor was okay in the first quarter but Achilles soreness sidelined him early in the match. It was disappointing that he couldn’t finish off the game because he’s been in terrific form.
Ben Darrou
19 disposals, 4 rebound 50s
Played another fantastic game at full back. He totally clamped one of their key forwards. He did some good spoils and won some good contests. He’s going well.
Matt Dea
26 disposals, 9 marks
Played a terrific game in defence. He’ll push for senior selection after coming back from injury last week.
Brad Helbig
22 disposals
Helbig had another really good game across half-back and found more of the ball. We were tempted to push him into the midfield but had to keep him back because of match-ups.
Brett O’Hanlon
20 disposals, 4 rebound 50s
Was very good for the first half until he got a corky and had to sit forward. Needs to convert better if he’s to step up his game, but we’re pleased with how he’s going.
Aaron Edwards
2 goals, 26 disposals, 12 marks
He got a lot of the football, but only hit the scoreboard a couple of times, we were hoping he was going to kick a couple more goals. He’s a level above VFL and always plays that way.
Nathan Gordon
10 disposals
Came on at half time because of the carry-over [at senior level], but he didn’t really impact the game, we expect more from Nathan.
Todd Banfield
16 disposals
Played another good game, but fumbled a bit below his knees, which he’s working on at the moment. He missed a couple of goals, but we were pleased with his energy and commitment.
Liam McBean
1 goal, 10 disposals
Had a disappointing day, and didn’t really have an impact on the game. We expect more from him, but we’re disappointed that he’s broken his hand, so he’ll be out for some time.
Orren Stephenson
24 hit outs
Was solid in the ruck without playing a standout game. He’s excellent at VFL level and contributed well.
Anthony Miles
31 disposals, 10 clearances
Was excellent again despite a tag and he’s really stating a case for himself to make a jump up to senior level. He’s doing everything right.
Matt Arnot
15 disposals
His performance was below his best. He didn’t really impact when he played midfield and struggled when he played forward as well. We expect a better performance.
Cadeyn Williams
11 disposals
He couldn’t really get into the game as a forward. He moved through the midfield in the second half but was another who didn’t really impact the game.
Todd Elton
1 goal, 15 disposals
Started forward and went back when we needed a mobile backman and was quite good there. Went into the ruck in the last quarter so he was very competitive in the second half.
