Matty McDonough was fantastic today. That boy respected the jumper, he respected the occassion and if Tom Hafey was around today he would of been proud of the kid. The kid played with all his heart like a tiger player should. Ben Lennon also played fantastic after he came on after half time. 2 ripper goals. These boys are Richmond players. I respect them for how they played today. If only some of their older mates played like these two we would have won easy.
Well Done to both boys. You did yourselves, your families and the Richmond supporters proud today. You will be 10 year players.
Thanks for playing your hearts out until the end :clapping

Well said Ramps.
What a joke that our best player (bar Martin) came on near 3 qtr time. Lennon was great.
These 2 carried about 10 blokes today.
-
Interesting I thought McDonough was shown up a number of times today for his lack of speed
Thought he struggled a fair bit
But certainly didn't walk away thinking he didn't give his all

kid played his guts out. was beaten sometimes but he gave his all which is more than most of his teammates. Didnt think he was overly slow today.
-
Thought McDonough was ordinary today
6 kicks 6 handballs against Melbourne really isn't a good game
Got caught often as well
-
Dream team points 43 says it all
-
The guy isn't a backman…..we are playing him out of position.
-
dreamteam points dont mean poo to be honest. the kid was better than more than half his teammates.
-
It doesnt say it all but i agree nonetheless.
he just gets caught to often.
-
He got caught way too often and runs into the wrong spots which is a real issue
-
At least he runs. Go and have a look at how many of our blokes were jogging today and taking the pee. It was disgraceful.

Exactly. Joel and Patrick Bowden racked them up one week against Adelaide.
-
Don't get the anti-McDonough 'love'. I reckon he's really come on this year and stills has heaps of upside. Looks like he has a footy brain and has a crack - 2 attributes a fair few in the run on 22 couldn't lay claim to.

I spotted him walking in the centre square in the last quarter when he should be running
Game was there to be won
To for him to spectate
Sorry but that's why we are what we are
A terrible football club
-
McDonough >>>>>>>>>> Chaplin, Houli, Grigg, Hampson, Ellis combined.
Brandon Ellis lost me today. Kid does not have a footy brain. Is lazy too.
Pretty much sums it up.
Melbourne played with 18 on the field 3 interchange and a sub.
We leave too much to too few.
We play with 5-10 if we are lucky, 1 or 2 interchange, a sub and anywhere between 10-12 passengers.

I spotted about 15 blokes walking and that was from the first quarter. They kid tried his guts out and its more than I can say for most of the team today. It was just disgraceful what happened today and I thought Lennon and McDonough were two positives to come out of today.

That's Hardwicks trait...
-
McDonough hasn't exactly set the world on fire, but stuff me it sure doesn't help his cause not getting given a run of more than just 2-3 games at a time. Has more of a dip than at least half of our walk up starts.
-
Well done these boys
-
I thought these lads were alright and earned their pay cheques, as for the others hmmmmmmm....

Not disputing that, has courage and busted his gut but you need more. I am prepared to give the kid some time . But needs to improve a lot more than he has. Another good example of what I am trying to get at is Morris, will never ever question his courage but I don't think he is going to get any better. So right now is what he gives enough long term
Brandon Ellis lost me today. Kid does not have a footy brain. Is lazy too.
Welcome to the Club, Don. It's what I've been seeing the last 2 years.
The quantity of possession hides so many liabilities IMHO

The quantity of possession hides so Manichaeism IMHO
Ellis is becoming way too enigmatic and on the wrong side of enigmatic at that - gives 5 minutes of good followed by 10 minutes of crap and will often give you both within the same passage of play.
Still rate him highly at his best but if the current trend continues, wouldn't be against offering him up as trade bait.
-
Brandon Ellis should have been dropped about 4 weeks ago to be honest. He was shocking today. Just terrible.

Yep always thought the kid was a trier and a willing worker despite the views of others.
Was soft in areas of his game but was willing to give him time given the perceived improvement of the list in 2012/13 and being of the belief that he is still young enough and that tinkering with some things in his game was viable to successfully evolving him into a good all round 200 game footballer.
Kid has lost me this season. Been a passenger on Metro without a Myki.
3rd biggest disappointment this year.
For the record.
Houli 2nd.
Chaplin wins the Kouratha award for excelling in sloppiness, laziness, weakness, spineless, gutless, skilless and brainless footy from a so called senior leader of the club.
Kouratha equals plop plop plop. :thumbsup
FWIW Jack whom was replaced in the leadership group by Chaplin has more leadership in him even when he is whining, pointing at others and generally displaying petulance than what Chaplin has.

arent we sick to death of triers by now. battlers will only take you so far no matter how desperate surely we have learnt that lesson by now.
im sorry people but i dont see one outstanding attribute that will offset the lack of pace and size.. mcdonough types are a dime a dozen.
