@Look, were a better team than last year but were not sure why we're playing this brand of footy"
That's all I need.

Summary
* Disappointing week all round.
* Doesn't believe the emotion of the week had anything to do with the loss. You don't win too many games kicking 20 points. Thought our movement of the ball improved as we got 59 inside 50s and more than Melbourne but we didn't capitalise.
* Caro asked about the tentativeness and poor ball use. Dimma said that was a confidence issue. Various sides have gone through ruts this year and we've been in one. We know our best is good enough but we haven't played anywhere near that. Our length in connections (player-to-player ball movement) hasn't been where we want it.
* Majority of our young talent is elite - Cotchin (24) is the oldest and then you go down to the rest. We've tried to remain competitive while they head north but we haven't had consistency from our other players. We haven't played anywhere near where we can be.
* It would be disappointing if we were losing and we were playing at our best. Only about 4 are. Ball use was better this week and we were 2nd to North this weekend regarding efficiency. Caro jumped in and said a loss to Melbourne isn't a time to quote stats. Hardwick said it's his interview and he'll quote what he wants. Fact is we are nowhere where we want to be. We can bitch and moan about it but we need to stick our head down and work hard to fix it.
* Speaks to a number of people and gets feedback on what to try. Having said that it was never going to be a linear transition. We have had a linear progression improving each year in his first 4 years but we've now hit a bump in the road and we need to deal with it.
* We have got some players playing well in the VFL. Two automatic changed with Astbury and Vlastuin out. The consistency hasn't be there so we need to find players who will give us that consistency.
* We aren't moving the ball as fluently as we like. It has improved since Lids and Rance have come back but it hasn't improved enough. We've made tweaks. Our training form has been good but we need to take that training form into games.
* We just have to focus on winning this week against a side that is getting a number of good players back in Cameron and Mumford back on their home deck. We can't worry about finals as we aren't playing anywhere near good enough at the minute.
* We will look at players elsewhere but we keep that info in house. Caro asked if any specific position needed dealing with but Dimma repeated that info is kept in-house.

Only three or four playing at expected level, says Richmond coach Damien Hardwick

RICHMOND coach Damien Hardwick says he has only three or four players who have met expectations this season as the Tigers fight to get themselves out of a "rut" ahead of Saturday's crunch game against Greater Western Sydney.
The focus has turned to Richmond's playing list after a 2-6 start to the season, which hit a new low during last Saturday's 17-point loss to Melbourne at the MCG.
Following the loss, former Tigers star Matthew Richardson said the club was at a crossroads and needed to act on some players.
Speaking on Tuesday night, Hardwick would not be drawn on list management but he said the lack of players meeting expectations was a better scenario than some might think.
"For us it's actually a positive," he told Melbourne radio station 3AW.
"It'd be disappointing if we weren't winning games and these guys were performing above expectation.
"The reality is we've probably got about three or four that we feel are playing at expectation.
"I'm responsible for their performance and to get them where they need to go … unfortunately at the moment it's a fail in that area."
Hardwick said the Tigers were in a rut and had been "stuttering on and off" all season, with their poor performance a confidence issue.
He defended the club's recruiting, however, particularly the decisions over recent seasons to target recycled players, including Shaun Grigg, Bachar Houli, Ricky Petterd and Matt Thomas.
"Those players have contributed and brought exactly what we wanted from [them]," he said.
"The fact of the matter is the majority of our young talent is elite.
"Trent Cotchin is probably our eldest at 24 years of age, then you go down through there.
"We've had to rebuild with one arm behind our back, trying to remain competitive while a lot of those draft picks have gone north."

I'd rather have been less competitive and put more games into youngsters and the getter better draft picks because you finished a little lower. That's what not taking short cut means. If they're going to take mature recruits get former champs like Goddard or Chapman, not former duds.

That would mean spending $$$$$.
It's much easier to use money on cheaper bargain basement alternatives both players and assistants.
We market ourselves as being a Myer or a David Jones when in reality we are The Reject Shop.

We need to trade quality to get some more picks then......How much for Grigg? Any takers?
No? Terrific, just terrific!

Sorry this is RFC and you've been scammed.
Let big business pay FTF if they want.
I'll buy my memberships as per usual and that's it.
If RFC was on the stock exchange as investors we'd all be jumping out of skyscrapers.

"a loss to Melbourne isn't a time to quote stats" lmfao Caro :bow
2nd to North in efficiency this week - what an arhidi

Just junk.
Las Vegas was rebuilt out of Junk Bonds. An oasis in the desert.
We have never been rebuilt and anything resembling a rebuild at RFC is merely a mirage.

Our club will never win a Premiership. We are just making up the numbers in the AFL and we as members and sponsors are just a cash bank for the employees of the club. In all seriousness I think we are finished as a football club which could have a successful future. Not with this regime we wont. This is a regime who recruits blokes like Chaplin, Grigg, Knights, Hampson, Thomas and co. and then they go and slap each other on the back and tell each how much hard work theyve done lol. They have no clue what they're doing and thats the reality of our position.
-
Making mistakes is not scary, everyone does it and you can learn a lot from your mistakes - but as a supporter I have grave reservations that this football club has the ability to see its mistakes for what they are and then to learn from them.
For example - In hindsight, the ranking/rating system they do on players out of 1000 is wrong. I recall talking to TB about this on the fan forum night thinking at the time gee wiz this is a bit dicey bc what you 3-4 people rate, others may not. Will we change the people that rate these players? This rating system basically dictates their final list management decision on whether to take a Blair hartely special or an unknown draftee. If the judges on talent are found wanting, our whole philosophy is pardon the French - stuffed!
Who made the decision to not replace leppa and cambo? Cambo wasn't really coaching but he was in charge of opposition analysis, are we now stretched too thin? Again I ask, who made this decision? and why? was it bc of the startup costs associatd with getting our own vfl side adequately resourced? I'd just like to understand the thinking that goes behind these types of decisions that at face value, look strange.
Why were we so far off the mark fitness wise early on in the season? Something went wrong there.
Why was Troy Chaplin promoted to the leadership group on the back of 1 year at the club? Now the clubs hands are tied as they will not drop a leader.
The coach promotes a very tight nit senior core of players which is great but also has weaknesses. Cliques can evolve, Lids's comment the other day about there being nothing in the vfl to replace senior players with reeks of him looking out for his mates namely Grigg and Vickery.
I hope we are a mature enough organisation to make the hard calls, but tbh Im not sure we can or will.

When Adelaide, Carlton lost to Melbourne, their coaches were angry and out for blood! What does Hardwick do? He cries ... :banghead
That's not a real coach.

Yea he should come out like Neeld after his first game, carry on like a pork chop , that'll work :lol
