they've basically said the win on the weekend was nothing to gauge where the team is at.
They would be correct
-
Our ball movement stats in 2014:
Rounds 1-5: 17th
Rounds 6-10: 4th.
The latter most likely thanks to Lids and Rance coming back into the side.
-
Interesting stat flashed up. We are the sixth best in points against over rounds 5-10 with 78.8 points.
-
Nice makeup Cotch.......
-
He talks too much, poor kid.
Needs to relax

Summary:
* Certainly was a relief to win well on the weekend. Pressure was on. We had constructive meetings earlier in the week about both team and individuals. Whether it was that or what we've been building the last few weeks, it's just great to get a win.
* Jack was disappointed the night of making the comments. Cotch gave him a call because Jack was a bit emotional. They had a meeting with Jack the next day. Jack said you know he likes talking and it got all muddled and came out the wrong way.
* Cotch said Lids suggested we auction off Jack's myki card ;D. Jack might drop a comment now every Wednesday and then buy a myki to make him deliver under pressure. Credit to him he did deliver under pressure.
* Pressure comes with a disappointing start to the year. Believes we are turning the corner. People talking down GWS but it was a important win for us going forward.
* We need consistency of the message out on the field. We were moving the ball too slowly as everyone was mentioning. If we can move the ball into our forward half quickly then we give ourselves a chance to score. It's that consistency that we need to find.
* Cotch said initially as captain he tried to be passive and just let everyone feel comfortable. The stuff to him was he needed to become more aggressive and he's taken that on board.
* Hardwick has a lot of good ideas. We weren't following the gameplan early on. We've tinkered with it since. Dimma held a meeting asking for stuff from the players. Cotch happy that a number of players spoke up including some younger players.
* Dusty - spends time at the KGI, also with Mark 'Choco' Williams just learning about life. He's maturing now.
* McCaffer - he played under the rules that night and beat me. The interpretation of the rules have changed since and McCaffer has acknowledged he's had to change his game. Cotch said he didn't complain or whinge about the tactics McCaffer used that night. That was from outside sources.
-
Players asked him to be more agressive in his captaining apparently. Has always come across as a soft captain and needs a bit of agro

Cotch is the most aggressive footballer we have .He attacks the ball with more ferocity than anyone in the team with maybe morro the exception.
If his style of play cant inspire these bozzos nobody can

Teammates urge Cotch to be more aggressive

TRENT Cotchin's teammates have urged the Richmond skipper to be "more demanding" as the Tigers look to bounce back from their faltering start to the season.
Following the Tigers' disappointing loss to Melbourne in round nine, the Richmond players and coaches engaged in "constructive stuff" meetings as they tried to arrest their form slump in 2014.
Cotchin, who was named Richmond captain as a 22-year-old in 2012, said the sessions helped spark the side for its 113-point win over Greater Western Sydney, and included some strong advice for all involved.
"One of mine was to actually be a little bit more aggressive with my approach at times," Cotchin told Channel Seven.
"Coming into being the captain as a younger player I probably tried to find a passive and relaxed way [to lead], especially with the younger group.
"I tried to make everyone comfortable and get the best out of them, that's how I felt it was going to work. But the stuff is that I need to become even more demanding which I'll be working on."
After leading the Tigers to 15 wins last season and an elimination final berth, coach Damien Hardwick has come under pressure, but Cotchin said he had handled the spotlight well.
The midfielder suggested only minor changes have been made to the club's playing style through the year as they try to get their run and movement back to the levels of last season.
Hardwick also took part in the stuff meetings last week, with the coach encouraged to put the heat on his players more.
"The fantastic thing about our group and 'Dimma' is that he has relationships with people so people are comfortable to actually talk about where he can improve," Cotchin said.
"Probably a little bit like me, with a younger group you feel you have to nurture players and so forth. Whereas they've said, 'mate, if you're thinking something, just whack blokes'.
"Naturally that's how he is, and at times he does it for the group. But we feel that individuals he can probably put the heat on. He has done it at times, and it's worked."
Jack Riewoldt returned from a week in the headlines with a career-high 11 goals against the Giants, and Cotchin said the two-time Coleman medallist had been "fantastic" over the past six weeks during training and in games.
"The thing we love about Jack is he's a very passionate person. He wants the club to succeed and that's why he is the way he is," he said.
"On the track he's probably our No.1 speaker."

Reckon Jack would make a great captain. At the very least he should be VC next season.
Too many introverts in the leadership group.

should be keeping this stuff in house, media and the footy public don't need to know the specifics of those meetings.

FOOTY CLASSIFIED (7 Mate)
Richmond captain Trent Cotchin was the show’s special guest.
After a week of focus on the Tigers’ gameplan and coach Damien Hardwick, the club’s players sat down and gave Hardwick some stuff on his coaching.
Cotchin said the playing group wanted Hardwick to be harder on them as a team but more importantly as individuals as well.
“It was just part of the group exercise. Myself, Lids (Brett Deledio) and a couple of other senior players did it as well,” Cotchin said.
“Credit to the guys who did speak up - whether it was older guys or young guys.
“The great thing about Dimma (Hardwick) is that he has relationships with people, so the guys are about to talk about where he is able to improve.
“Probably he’s a bit like me, when you’re in a group you feel like you have to nurture players and so forth, whereas we’ve said, if you’re thinking something just whack blokes.
“At times he does it for the group but we feel for individuals he can probably put the heat on.”

Disagree, fans need to know what the club and/or coaching staff are doing to arrest the poor form. Some of us have been demanding answers, now we are getting them.

True dat, all pretty consistent with the mail I've been getting for a while now :shh

That's true but that's better than hearing about how we are better team than last year.

That's going too far. We can know whats going on in that they brought in leading teams - no problems there, but they certainly shouldn't be airing dirty laundry in public about specifics for mine. That stuff is private and should be between employer and employee. The rest of the footy public including opposition teams don't need to know those sort of details.

I can see your point but they didn't really get into specifics. Anyway, at least by being honest they don't allow rumour and speculation to cloud the truth.
