I heard an interview with Ross and John on 3AW this morning which involved a Richmond great, Ian Stewart.
I never realised he had been struck down some time ago with a severe bout of Guillain-Barre syndrome. He was paralysed from the neck down for many months. He still has some unresolved weakness.
Maybe this explains why he didn't want to hand over the jumper to Ben Lennon and Graeme Bond stepped in at the last moment.
Now that Alastair Clarkson has been struck down by this disease process (a less severe bout by the sounds of it) people are coming out and admitting their plight.
Hope Ian continues to improve. He was a superstar in his day and is still the last tiger to have won a Brownlow medal.

YBB he was also on with KB this morning talking about it.
I was at the RFC hall of fame dinner last year and im pretty sure the story of Ian becoming sick, if not Ian himself on stage discussing. Apparently he was near paralysed on the floor and used his chin/face to dial 000. Can someone confirm or elaborate on this? I remember sitting there being blown away by the story.
Hope he can recover fully :gotigers

That's tough for clarkson and his young family, hope his back comes good soon
just thought I'd add the missing words so the sentence made some sort of sense
