Are we just poor tacklers or is youth an excuse as our young blokes don't yet have the required strength for tackles to stick at AFL level?
Sheesh how many times today did Saint players break tackles and waltz through ball watching Richmond players :help.

Being a wet game didn't help in that aspect, but yeah it did get annoying after a while!

we have been the worst tackling and weakest team in the afl for years. things are slightly betetr and will improve next yr but its damn disappointing that at 2nd 16 we have not improved in this area this season

I reckon a few of more senior blokes either don't have the strength or worse still the right mental approach to takling. They way some of them just get pushed aside is staggering. It also seems to me at least that in a game if some of them get pushed aside they then go into their shells and just stand around watching instead of going in to help their team mates

Having just updated the OER stats page (sorry for the delay folks ;))
The figures for tackling showed the following:
Tackles: A positive sign over the last 3 rounds. The Tigers have had 174 tackles. That's an average of just over 57 tackles over the 3 week period which is a major improvement on the 33 tackles we were averaging up until round 13.

Gotta say that I was a slightly staggered by the increase 57 compared to 33 :o STRUTH

Those stats back up that our tackling against the Swans (for 3 qtrs), Essendon and the Saints (first quarter) was spot on. Our intensity at the ball and the opponent with the ball was noticably higher than before the midseason break. The boys obviosuly listened to Wallace. However the last 3 quarters last week we only had alot of tackles because we were continually second to the footy and chasing tail all day :(.
