Title: Trade Vickery
Post by: torch on June 28, 2014, 03:18:52 PM
Trade Vickery.

He isn't interested.

Find a young tall player who can jump, mark, kick goals and has heart.

He's 23 and could be anything. Usually is involved with 2 or 3 goals a game. Dumb thread. Hawkins, Schulz, Westoff, Cloke etc were no better at 23

Actually there was a moment in the 1st qtr that sums up Ty

Running of the lines through the middle Jake Batchelor hits Ty lace out just outside fifty.

Batch keeps running (reckon it was 60+ metres) into space ends up about 40 metres out on his own.

What does Ty do? looks and then proceeds to just lob it up forward to a contest ignoring Batchelor

Then when Batch says something Ty "explains" something (who knows what) and then just jogs off...  ::) Great team orientated footy right there  ;D

geez id like a dollar for every time ive heard this lame duck excuse about our players.
for starters hes 24, hes in yr 6 and played close to 85/90 games. i dont know what sample size you need to make a call on this bloke but id say hes had more than ample exposure.
unlike the blokes you mention who have shown they can consistently compete in the air vickery struggles. schulzy aside they all continually tracked in the right direction.most would agree  schulz was not well treated in his time at richmond while vickery has been looked upon as the annointed one.
vickery has had just one decent yr where he at least hit the scoreboard in 2011 since then his next 3 yrs have been as poor as his first two.

how long do we put blind faith in this bloke and actually assess him on what he produces.
even in keeping him if the club are not looking at tall fwds they will be derelict in their duty if they arent already.

By keeping Vickery, what are we holding on to.  He will never be a superstar.  Superstars play well from their first game.  Richo, Roughhead, Franklin, they didn't need 100 games to be great.

Versatility?  It is very unlikely that he will be a good ruckman, he can't jump and doesn't like physical contact unless he is trying to punch on with a midget.

It's highly unlikely he will be a good forward.  He can't take an overhead mark, he doesn't have the work rate and he doesn't have burst speed to get easy leading marks.  His hands are like butter.

If in a new club environment, he could correct the majority of those things, (big if), have a huge preseason, at best he will be a good player.  He has trade value because he is tall but how much is pretty subjective considering he has a terrible attitude.  He has had more opportunities than any reasonable person could expect to prove himself and has been found wanting.

If you could stitch him up in a player trade with another club, there would be very little downside in doing so.  I doubt we could get more than a second rounder if we traded him for a pick.  Vickery and Shane Edwards for a young KPP would be ideal.

Love the way Vickery is bagged to the crapier and then with another poo player can get a second rounder

Vickery is like a cigarette butt to other clubs. Not worth touching and for those that do that means health problems for years to come. :help
