Dusty would be favourite for the B&F based on his form and output so far this year but Cotch and Ellis lead the coaches' votes:
Top Richmond players after 16 rounds
1. Trent Cotchin – 36 (polled votes in seven games)
1. Brandon Ellis – 36 (five)
3. Dustin Martin – 31 (seven)
4. Alex Rance – 17 (four)
5. Jack Riewoldt – 16 (three)

Surely its gotta be Martin. If rance played the whole year I'd go with him but surely Martin for being one of the few players that has been consistently watchable
-
dont see the importance of this award lately. seems to me any bum can have a good yr and win it.
-
dont see the importance of this award lately. seems to me any bum can have a good yr and win it.
...or even just a less poo year than they usually have.
-
Ellis is 2nd lol... no wonder we're a joke as a club, he should have been dropped 10 weeks ago.
-
Ellis 2nd are you kidding me. His holding on by a string not to be dropped most of the season & Hardwack said that himself. Cotchin dont belong on top. Martin is the clear leader in my eyes. The rest are miles behind they all bad as one another this season.
-
Martin then daylight.
To mention anybody else would be akin to misappropriation of the award.
By the way how is Jako looking this year.
-
Hardwick said Jackson has been doing the role he has been given to a excellent standard of late
-
Really all one game of that role since he has come back from injury. What a trooper. :help

Thought Jacko has been alright when he's actually got on the park
-
I'd actually welcome an Essendon style drugs program to be discovered from last season in the hope the B & F result was wiped from the record books.
-
C'mon.....Edwards is a shoe in, career best form after one game against the Lions..... :whistle
Get some money on the champ!!!!
-

But you said it was a crap game he played, so how can he get votes for it?

It's all moot - your boy Grigg will pee it in....

Just rename it as the $*it and fairest?

Agreed but he aint anything special let alone a B&F winner. No wait only at Richmond.
So don't be surprised when Titch wins one also in the next few years. :help

“David Astbury was probably winning our best and fairest before he went down. Dusty’s had an incredible season, Brandon Ellis has taken his game to the next level and we’ve found the young kid Miles, which is exciting for us,” Hardwick said.

I'm sorry but Hardwick's attempt to motivate here is pathetic and hollow.
Kevin Sheedy's words that to win a premiership you need a great orator are ringing in my ears.

Dimma's speech...
"Season 2014 … how would I sum it up?
In short, the first half of the season was unacceptable, the second half of the season was admirable and the players showed great resilience – but the wash up is that we did not improve when it mattered most and that is bitterly disappointing."
"Richmond is now a strong, united, well-resourced football club. It has taken an enormous amount of hard work to deliver that outcome."
"To the Tiger Army that make this Club so strong and bold. You were sensational as always. The whole Club was amazed by your support and to see thousands travel to Adelaide was truly humbling. We are in this journey together and we look forward to seeing you in season 2015.
To have more than 66,000 members is just outstanding and it’s a fact that I know the coaches and players love sharing with people – it makes you proud to be a Tiger."

“Yes, consecutive years of finals football is an important step forward, and we need to consistently play football in September to give ourselves a chance, but losing in elimination finals doesn’t have any of us sleeping soundly at night.
“We must not accept what has happened in the past two years, or feel in any way comfortable that we have achieved something. We haven’t, and to think anything different will lead us nowhere.
“We told the players exactly that when we reviewed our elimination final loss a couple of weeks ago. We embarrassed ourselves, and our Club, with that performance. It has got to cut deep, it has got to genuinely hurt.
“And, we will find out when the players and coaches return for pre-season, who was really hurt by what happened.
“The relentless drive to improve in the following months – that will be there for all to see – will tell us if it really hurt and may well shape the side for Round 1, 2015.
“We need a burning desire to keep raising our standards, and there will be nowhere to hide in the pursuit of that . . . it has to be a collective effort and a collective accountability.
“The players must ask themselves: Do I want to play in a good team or a great team? Do I want to finish my career as just another AFL footballer, or an AFL footballer with great stories of collective success and lifelong bonds with former teammates?
“Of course, we all choose the latter, but to choose the latter takes commitment and sacrifice.
“I’m very confident nobody wants to let this Club down from the moment they set foot in the place to start the 2015 pre-season . . .
“The greatest positive out of season 2014 is that we know we have it in us. The greatest challenge for 2015 is to deliver on that from Round 1 onwards.”

Congrats Capitano :clapping.
A big couple of weeks for Cotch with the arrival of his daughter and now his 3rd B&F.
I reckon the hammy strain Dusty was carrying in the last month cost him the B&F. He had to be played more up forward to reduce his workload in the midfield. He clearly wasn't right in the Elim Final. No way would a fully fit Dusty get bumped off balance 1-on-1 going for a loose ball by a lightweight opponent.

Yep, even though Rance missed about 7 games it still doesn't make sense as Chaplin was rubbish in the first half of the season. If Astbury hadn't done his kneecap, Chaplin most likely would've been dropped.

Cotch seemed surprised he won. Good night though with a packed Crown Palladium. Auction items were a little disappointing IMHO. WAGS were easy on the eye! :thumbsup
-
Chaplin must have really satisfied the Fairest part of the award, because he would have barely got a vote for Best.
-

The Auctioneer was shocking, pathetic actually and agree with the items. Silent auction wasn't much better. Hate it when they put reserves (min bids) on these things, not the night for it IMHO should be about folks getting a bargain
Was an OK night I thought, not sure why Sandy seemed to need to yell into the mic, was so bloody loud ;D
-
How on earth did Chaplin finish above Deledio. Brett's second half of the season was outstanding in particular he was outstanding against Sydney, West Coast and Adelaide. Makes no sense at all. Feel for Dusty believe he should have won it but Cotch is a worthy winner and I mean no disrespect to him.
