Looks like he's hanging around fingers crossed...

Was he on the panel
Nup. It was a guest interview. Cotch sat next to Sam.

I missed the very start of Cotch's interview but this is what I heard:
* Port this week will be a good challenge we're looking forward to. We pushed a top side like Sydney a couple of weeks ago so we go into the game with some confidence.
* Dimma been very good given he's been under pressure with the way we've gone this year. He's kept his focus and we haven't changed things up much since the start of the season.
* Positive signs - Miles coming into the side, Dusty's most consistent season, Ellis is having his best season, Astbury was having his best year before the injury.
* Criticism of him as captain? He was impatient. He was trying to be a perfect captain. Your peers vote you in to be yourself.
* Is Richmond cliquey? Unfair. We've come a long way from the past over the last 4-5 years. Now we're strong and solid. Before had guys that wanted to be liked rather than respected.
* Will you be a one club player? Would definitely think so.
* Sam asked if culture defines success. Only a couple of kms from Punt Rd are Hawthorn or Collingwood but those clubs have had success and Richmond hasn't?
Fair comment. Facts and figures show we haven't been successful. We've come a long way now as a club. The older players can now pass on what needs to be done to the younger players. The Club is in a strong financial position. We're not in the position [onfield] we want to be but the reality is that's the position we are.
* Dusty - understands what it takes now to play AFL including the important little things. Dusty doesn't drink coffee nor takes any caffeine anymore as it affects his anxiety. Choco has been a big help to Dusty.

Ellis is having his best season
Really? I thought his year last year was consistently better than this year.
* Will you be a one club player? Would definitely think so.
How definitive was he in his response to this?

Fluff interview
The culture question response was laughable. Why don't you tell it how it is Trent? The culture is rooted and has been since 1983

Barrett loved it btw:
IF ....... Cotchin speaks publicly every time as he did on The Footy Show...
THEN ... you'll want to be listening. Without doubt, the most open, honest and real he's ever been when the microphone is on. Well done.

Yep, getting more of the ball but everything else seems to have dropped as a result. Disposals aren't everything and for someone who literally got ZERO contested possessions he should have ZERO clangers against his name, one at most.

There's a damning indictment if I ever read one! :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead

Thought he performed as well as you could expect in this interview. Maybe the club has some new media advisers. Didn't really believe a lot of what he said or liked his arrogance because it revealed a narrow mindedness that could stifle development. Both his and those "below him". He seems privileged to me. People should be open to criticism but I get the impression he thinks he is above it. There isn't much else he could have said without opening himself and the club up to further criticism. Good on him for fronting the media.
Its a shame that due to the ineptness of Hardwick, our players are left to answer questions that put them in conflict with what the club wants and the truth.
If Cotchin had the courage to run and carry the ball and used his foot skills to break lines and hit target 40-50 feet away, he would be a great player. Unfortunately, this isn't in Dimma's game plan. Even the good players must play it safe.
-
it is in Dimmas game plan, but the players don't execute it enough.
what we see when they are playing crap is not how hardwick wants them to play. when they get their tails up they play good, high scoring footy, but once the opposition shut that down and they make a mistake or two, they crap themselves and start playing conservatively. they play like they are afraid of failure, which is the best recipe for failure.
Hardwick is clueless on how to rectify this, though.

I'm not confident with his "I would think so" when he said he will be a one club player :-[

Fortress mentality.
Ignore all criticism.
Internal bosses always right.
..... and any player dissent is treason
