Ch 7: Hardwick was asked about it on Gameday this morning and he didn't deny it.
-
In fairness to Dimma, it appears former captain Chris Newman dropped him in it big time. Newy basically said it was true, didn't leave Hardwick much room to attempt to deny it.
Didn't watch it but appears he was also asked about Hayes as an assistant coach and didn't exactly deny that one either but suggest there was no vacancies at Tigerland :-\
-
The Herald-Sun, a couple of days ago, had Carlton chasing Higgins so the media are speculating as usual.

theres about 5 vacancies
-
I hope it's not true. What's the point chasing someone who can't get on the park :P.
-
Can play Shaun Higgins , a turn of luck with injury and he could be a gem

Can play Shaun Higgins , a turn of luck with injury and he could be a gem
The problem though is he has had no luck with injury throughout his whole career and being older now that situation is unlikely to change.
-
Overrated & injury prone. "Let's get a free agent for sake of it" The incompetence continues and will until Dimmer Hardwick, Laurel & Hartley are all gone.
-
Higgins another Chris Knights.
-
FFS how many of these players do we need that cant get on the park?
Knights, then Taylor Petrenko now Higgins?? :shh

Don't forget Jim Boogie.

Yep. More "moneyball' malarkey.
If we really have to get a "name" f.a. this year, would rather we went for Goldsack.
-
haha
-
Straight swap for Knights or Coughlan

Higgins can play
Will replace Jake King
-
I agree Jack, sublime skills to boot......something we don't have an abundance of. Better than keeping King or A.Edwards on our list. Higgins has actually had a an injury free year to date, played 15 games
-
Don't think anyone is saying he can't play because he can. Is a very good player when fit and firing
Think people are more concerned by the fact he doesn't seem to able able to get on the park because if shocking injuries
Bit like another bloke we have on list, who can play but has had a terrible run with injury since he dislocated his kneecap and people here whack him for no other reason... might have heard of him Chris Knights ;D
-
As I said, hasn't missed a game this year
-
Except for the last one that he was dropped for attitude problems and crap form. ;D
-
will be 27 at the start of next season. hmmm.....

both are a waste of space.

Higgins is one of the softest players in the AFL and is permanently injured. Sounds like exactly the type of player the RFC would target. Our recruiting policies are by far the worst in the AFL.
I'll fardinkum give the tiges away if we get this bum.
Shaun Higgins ? LMFAO !!!!!!

Geez Geez :facepalm

Epworth is a very decent hospital indeed. Clean modern rooms, the linen doesnt stink and the food is edible and that Doc is about a 10,000% improvement on what you get at any public hospital ;D

4 stints in hospital this year already and the public system is a disgrace. food crap, the bed linen stinks of being burned, the rooms are old the facilities are generally shizen. I highly recommend everyone get themselves private health cover at least if you get sick you dont have to put up with 3rd world standards. Last week I was in epworth, it was almost like having your own apartment, everything was clean, the food was ok, the room was excellent, tv, phone, the only thing I didnt get to have was a group of strippers to come in and provide some entertainment in my time of need ;D

And that was on Doctor's orders otherwise you would have needed to be transferred to the Cardiac Dept of the nearest public hospital and they know how you wouldn't have coped with that!

Back to the topic ppl.
UP IN THE AIR
Shaun Higgins (restricted), Western Bulldogs
Higgins has put contract talks with the Bulldogs on hold until the end of this season, but his manager Bruce Kaider says the defender remains committed to negotiating with the Dogs before entertaining opposition interest. Make no mistake, there is rival interest in Higgins, with at least four other clubs having already put their hats in the ring. Higgins' decision might come down to the length of his new contract rather than remuneration. We understand the Bulldogs have offered Higgins a two-year deal, but he would prefer a longer contract. Rival suitors will be mindful Higgins, 26, has had his share of injuries over his career, but might be prepared to make a long-term commitment given his class. The defender's recent demotion to the VFL will have no bearing on his decision, but he is no more than a 50/50 chance to stay at the Whitten Oval.

Ramps, before your next visit make sure you upgrade to Hospital plus extras and you will be sorted. Whatever you do though, on the admission form do not select the "Collingwood Package" as this is what you will get......

I work in the public health system too. Blame the government for cutting funds every time someone new gets elected. As for 3rd world hospitals , mate , you clearly haven't been in one of those. They make ours look like the Hilton.
Back on topic - Shaun Higgins is a broken down hack. I'll be filthy if we go after him.

No he didn't actually, missed half a dozen games in 2012.

whats a dash of urine soaked sheets between citizens?

Would be a pretty shrewd pick up by the tigers , knows where the goals are and kicks with surgical like precision , could only add to our stockpile of talent :clapping

Geez Geez here we go again :facepalm

Higgins another Chris Knights.
summed it all up l dont have to say anything ;D
-
The problem with this isn't Higgins it is the crap choices before him.
If we didn't Have Thomas, Edwards, A, Stephenson, Hampson, Knights on the list as older players picked from other teams then no-one would mind too much and Higgins is a much better player than any of them.
-
higgins is a class act... if he can get his body right he will walk straight into our team, any team..

At least four clubs in the hunt for out-of-contract Bulldog Shaun Higgins
Nick Bowen
afl.com.au
July 29, 2014 7:15 PM
SHAUN Higgins has become one of the most sought-after players in 2014's dwindling free agency pool, with at least four clubs circling the classy Western Bulldog.
AFL.com.au understands North Melbourne, Carlton, Richmond and Greater Western Sydney have expressed their interest in Higgins, who has put off contract talks with the Western Bulldogs until the end of this season.
It is understood the main sticking point in the Dogs' negotiations with Higgins earlier this year was the length of their proposed new offer rather than remuneration.
The Bulldogs are believed to have offered Higgins a two-year deal but the 26-year-deal is after a new three-year contract.
Higgins is on between $350,000-$400,000 a season under his existing deal with the Bulldogs but the level of interest in him could push his price up.
Higgins' manager, Bruce Kaider of One Management Group, would not comment on his negotiations with the Bulldogs when contacted by AFL.com.au but said his client had not "pursued or actively listened to" any offers from rival clubs.
Kaider also said Higgins was committed to re-opening his negotiations with the Dogs at the end of this season before entertaining opposition offers.
Higgins' career has been plagued by injuries.
A broken foot restricted him to three games last season and he was plagued by the groin condition osteitis pubis earlier in his career.
But Higgins has enjoyed a better run this season, playing the Bulldogs' first 15 games before being dropped to the VFL.
The Bulldog is also such a classy ball user that opposition clubs might be prepared to punt on his injury-free run continuing and offer him the three-year deal he is seeking.
Along with Adelaide's David Mackay, Higgins is one of just two restricted free agents left in the 2014 pool, which gives the Bulldogs the right to keep him by matching the terms of any rival offer.
The Bulldogs have played the 186cm utility across half-back this season but he is equally at home in the midfield or attack.
Higgins was pick No. 11 in the 2005 NAB AFL Draft and has played 124 matches and kicked 126 goals.

Can't wait to be stuck with him for three years taking up 400k of our cap each year while he likely sits on the injury list
Meanwhile we dip out of the race for Cameron next year or Martin leaves because we've got at least 700k p.a. tied up in our rehab group & Hampson in the VFL.
Then there's the small matter of a side that desperately needs more pace going after a bloke who was dropped from his side because he lacked pace.
RFC - Halfway House of the AFL....

Houli on one half back flank and Higgins on the other. We'd have to put Neil Balme at CHB to ensure it wasn't the weakest , softest half back line in the history of football.
Shaun Higgins ! Pffftt ! What a joke our club is for going after him.
-
jeeeeeeezuz any chance North could do their own thing for a change?

do not want. not because of injuries but performance. i think the injury thing a bit of a joke. he broke an ankle in 08 then
from 09 to 12 he played, 20, 17, 18, and 19 games. id take that every day of the week. where he has failed to play was last yr, he played just 3 last yr but has has already turnrd that around and played 15 this yr.
for me pace and his overall performances just have not been good enough to warrant us going after him. yes we can do with some good kicks in the side but ffs no more glass half fulls. while he uses it really well he lacks in far too many areas. not a big possesion winner. doesnt win contested ball slow, doesnt kick a lot of goals, is not a clearance player and i can go on.
for sure target blokes who can use the ball well, but ffs target players who are well rounded and not so limited to go with it.
im asking what role would we envision for this bloke and does his performances and attributes indicate he can consistenly perform that role.
-
Please no. Enough of the soft token flankers.
Someone with toughness please. :help

Boy oh boy what a coup this would be. Shrewd pick up Tiges just quietly :shh

McCartney remained tight lipped when asked whether Shaun Higgins, who becomes a free agent at season's end, would be at the club next year.
AFL.com.au understands North Melbourne, Carlton, Richmond and Greater Western Sydney have expressed their interest in the 26-year-old, who is reportedly after a three-year contract.
"It's not my area" McCartney said.
"We're all engaging in conversations about where we want our group to go. Our footy manager and our list manager, they go to work on it. That's all I have to say on it."
Higgins was axed from the Bulldogs' round 18 side that lost to Essendon but has put his hand up for a recall against the Hawks on Sunday after a solid performance in the VFL.
