I hope I'm wrong but i can see them getting ahead of themselves.
Lids is already cocky.
Keep a lid on it Tiges and win 8 for the first time since 1980.
Grigg for Jackson.
Smack Jack around the head this week.
-
They flogged Freo not too long ago. But I still think we have the class to win.
-
% hunt and nothing more.
-
I think St.Kilda want to trade pick 1 for something big.
Could be an uncomfortable day in store but we will overcome them. The way we beat them will dictate what we may dish up against the Swans the week after.

Like that time we dished out a belting to GWS playing champagne footy and then played like poo against the bumholes and lost by 50? ;D
-
We have the momentum of a run away train....saints are going to get steam rolled.
Didn't we beat them by 40 odd when we were 3-10 ?
-
This is a training run
Go Norf
-
Honestly .Saints won't be competive next week
-
Don't think we'll take them easily. We have way too much to play for as the carrot is right in front of us now.
In fact I think we will pummel them.
-

Yep and we were nothing short of poohouse. Worst game I've been to that resulted in a win.
-
Tigers by 128 points next week thanks.

Agree
-
Watching St-Kilda yesterday, They were really pathetic. We must go into this game prepared to smash them by 100 points as they will try derail us & claim us as a big scalp.
-
Petterd on Footy Show this morning didn't bother to pretend.
"Round 23 is going to be a big game".
No one week at a time for the Turd. :shh
-
How bout a stiffen 20 goal win for q change
-
Will thump them,
just make sure we're ready for a massive increase in intensity the following week against sydney, very easy to not bring it following a big win the week before
-

We need to plan for the side that beat freo a few weeks back , no room for apathy
-
Honestly, I'd rest whoever needs it before the finals, even play them with 12 if need be.
-
It is a monty but we will win by 20 odd only which is disappointment

I saw that Big Fella and I winced. I'd like to put it down as a slip of the tongue but this is the tiges we're talking about.
I think you played it down a bit mate. Petterd said ' the last game against Sydney is gonna be huge and we can't wait '
WTF ?
To quote Bomber Thompson after last week ' when !!! when when when !! are we gonna work it out ? '
:banghead

If we are a good team and deserve to play finals then next week should be a monty. Stuff the Saints. They're poop. Bring on the Swannies.

DESPITE the brilliant football it has played in the last seven weeks, Richmond's finals hopes are out of its hands and it will know whether the door remains ajar before Sunday's clash against the Saints. If North Melbourne beats Adelaide on Saturday, finals are still a possibility, but if the Crows win it will be a tough task for the Tigers. After beating the Crows by 10 points in arguably their best win for the season, the Tigers would be favoured to account for the Saints comfortably this week. Alan Richardson's men have been hit with injury to both key players and youngsters, with a long season taking its toll on the last-placed club.
WHERE AND WHEN: MCG, Sunday August 24, 4.40pm AEST
LAST FIVE TIMES
R15, 2014, Richmond 18.9 (117) d St Kilda 11.7 (73) at Etihad Stadium
R14, 2013, Richmond 17.17 (119) d St Kilda 8.7 (55) at the MCG
R2, 2013, Richmond 14.15 (99) d St Kilda 12.10 (82) at the MCG
R10, 2012, Richmond 18.13 (121) d St Kilda 16.17 (113) at Etihad Stadium
R2, 2011, Richmond 14.11 (95) drew with St Kilda 13.17 (95) at the MCG
THE SIX POINTS
1. When these sides met in round 14, the Tigers dominated in disposals, marks, scoring shots and inside 50s. Tigers captain Trent Cotchin starred with 31 possessions and five goals and Brandon Ellis had 36 touches. Leigh Montagna was the Saints' best with 27 possessions.
2. In a form ladder since round 15, Richmond sits equal first alongside Geelong as the only undefeated teams, kicking an average score of 92 points while conceding only 69 a game.
3. No team has received more free kicks in 2014 than the Tigers, with 18.3 a game. In contrast the Saints haven’t been in the umpires' good books, ranked equal 15th for frees for, averaging 15.7.
4. St Kilda has played at the MCG just once this season, losing to Hawthorn by 145 points in round seven and kicking just four goals for the afternoon.
5. Richmond has three players in the top 10 for kicks this season - Trent Cotchin, Dustin Martin and Brandon Ellis, with Cotchin and Martin ranked second and third. Leigh Montagna is the highest ranked Saint at No.19.
6. Alex Rance has enjoyed a strong season, but in matches against St Kilda he rates poorly in Official AFL Player Ratings, brought to you by Gatorade. The key defender averages 7.6 player ratings points against the Saints, his lowest against any opposition.
Prediction: Richmond by 48 points

have to put them to the sword. aim to kick 8 goals a quarter and try and win by 25 goals
-
Let's just get the win first, margin will take care of itself
-
Let's just get the win first, margin will take care of itself
Wrong!
Lets just win each contest in the game, run and spread and create scoring options. When we don't have the ball, we should run hard to stop the Saints from getting loose.
If we do this we win, and win well.

In so many words lets just do the basics right much better, much stronger and for longer and we should have a good day at the office. :thumbsup
-
Let's get on the drink Saturday night cause this one is over.
-
Really should be talking about percentage boosting here, the win should be a formality!!
-
Percentage means sweet fa now. We are -120points behind Adelaide before we overtake them on percentage - given they'll likely beat the saints by 10 goals at least in the final round we'd need to win by 200 tomorrow to be in the running to make finals with a loss to Sydney.
Now the only thing that matters is winning our final 2, even if its by a combined total of 2 points, we must win both, stuff the margin
-
Percentage will come into play when we beat Sydney to get us over Essendon if they lose to Carlton.

Forget Adelaide. They are now more than likely out of the equation. West Coast are slaughtering Melbourne and unless that game turns around they will have a fair percentage on the Crows.
Percentage is meaningless now for us now unless the Pies do the impossible and beat the Hawks on one leg by a great margin.
Keep winning and we're in. Its all in our hands.
-
If we lose next week it seems West Coast are the ones who'll sneak in.
-
West coast will lose to GC, u heard it here

Tony I'm going to have a small flutter on that. :thumbsup

dont think gc have beaten them yet.reckon we will finish 10th.
reckon the top 10 will go
syd, haw, ge, pa, fre, nm, ess, wce, ad, rich,
if we talk percentage i think its more important to wce and adelaide as tthey are close in percentage and 8th spot will be determined by it.

we either win and come 8th or drop one and come 10th. Melbourne fans will be shattered.

I expect us still to win today but we have a habit of playing to the level of our opposition. So it won't surprise me if today isn't pretty and the margin is closer than people think. The main thing is to win but our boys can't think they just have to turn up today because we are playing the bottom side.

That will be the test. If we actually are a good side and deserve to play finals then we should smash that mob.

"Habit of playing to the level of our opposition"
So true MT.
It's in our hands now and that's normally doesn't go well.

that's right!

Just saw Martin is out for Conca.
-
Home.
Next.
-
Two goals to the umps. Good stuff, keep it tight.
-
Remind me again what Conca does well?
-
Ellis cost us 2 goals now. Shirked a contest which led to a goal and now kicked it straight to a saints player.
-

Well we got lucky on that one
-
We started too well, now believing it will happen without hard work.
-
Should have been a free kick down ground. Be consistent maggots.
-

Agreed. It's clear the players haven't learnt much. That is unless of course they come back with a vengeance this next half..
-
Remind me again what Conca does well?
stuff all.
-
Best game Grimes has played in about 2 years. Great to see him gaining some confidence.
Griffiths has been impressive. Building week on week, his pickups at speed are bloody brilliant
Lids looks great as a forward, Gordon is showing more and more, batch having a decent game except for that one silly handball.
-
Remind me again what Conca does well?
stuff all.
Some think he's better than Heppell.
I don't see it.

Clay Sampson mould
-
This last quarter is pathetic.
-
No effort last quarter. No killer mentality is where we are weak. Instructed to rest this quarter to save for the swans?
-
Training run
Move onto next week and the real game
-
Really worried about the defensive efforts in this last quarter. I don't really care that the Tigers aren't piling on goals but the way the saints are moving the ball into their 50 with no real pressure is a real concern for mine
-
If its a directive then the coaches are weak as pee.
Fancy playing 18th and not burying them
-
Reckon we will rue not getting more % from this.
-
Mind clearly on next week, would have been tough playing the rest of game after our fast start, did what we had to do to win and that's about it.
-
We're in, that's the main thing. :cheers
Taking an easy win into next week's game wouldn't be good prep. I actually prefer that we didn't get it all our own way.. and that disappointing final qtr will ensure we don't get ahead of ourselves - which is something we do historically.

But nothing special for the pick we got him with.

Saints full side would won by four goals.
Crap

nah. We had another gear. I think they can be cut some slack given it's our eighth win in a row.
You are a cranky man tonight.

Chaplin average.
-
Did what we needed to do and that is all.
I think the players were thinking of the swans during the game….. :whistle
-
Not impressed with the decision making and disposal of Batch still, could be our weakest link next week. overall intensity dropped off and we looked a bit stagnant after the first qtr..
Why Gordon was played down back was beyond me, clearly completely out of position and lost, he will be gone next week anyway.
We got away with the win and that's it, we cant dish that up next week though or its all over...
-
Not sure it was all foot off the pedal stuff tonight. Some of the fundamental stuff was poor.
I won't be surprised if we get bent over next week if Sydney don't rest players. And if mean really bent over.
