"Melbourne has not made the finals since 2006 and has won just 38 games of a possible 174 in almost eight completed seasons since the start of 2007.

According to statistician Josh Kay, Melbourne been placed in the bottom two on the ladder after 98 of 179 rounds played since the start of 2007."

That's an average of 4 1/2 wins per year.

Surely the afl wont give them, surely.... If they get a PP and get the expected comp for Frawley they will get

3 top 10 picks this season, to go with the extra 2 x top 12 picks they got for scully, who incidently they tanked to get with trengove at picks 1 and 2, not to mention the dodgys they did with GWS to get Hogan and then only pay a second round for Viney, not to mention the afl paying Jacksons wage and subsidising a fair chunk of Roo's 1.5mill a season wage not to mention paying out their other dud staff.

Get stuffed

Don't think Frawley has boosted his FA stocks the last few weeks in particular on Sunday he was putrid  ;D

The compo FA pick is a given because that's the rule.

As for the Priority Pick, I can't see the commission agreeing to it. Can't reward a club for being incompetent. Especially when the other clubs so opposed to it, they'd have mutiny on their hands  ;D

Barrett today says it all  :clapping

--------------------------------------------------------------

Simply, Melbourne does not deserve a priority draft selection, even after the disaster of last Sunday against the Giants.

Since 2006, it has had 17 national draft selections inside pick 26, 13 of those in the top 14. It has had two priority selections, two No.1 overall picks, seven picks in the top four.

It will get more significant compensation this year if free agent James Frawley departs.

The AFL has assisted this club enough. Last year, eight months after fining it $500,000 despite officially ruling that the Demons didn't tank in 2009, it provided $2.7 million in bailout funds.

It has allowed for Roos to be paid about $1.6 million a year, a figure that for some clubs would cover a senior coach, six assistants and a fitness boss.

Until Melbourne changes its attitude and stops seeking welfare, it cannot be fixed.

Ridiculous analogy and NO

There is a criteria in place for the issuing of P/Picks - we clearly don't qualify

Richmond don't need charity?

Richmond are playing against drug cheats.
Salary cap cheats.
Teams that get free top five draft picks.
Teams with an extra 10% cap

Seems to me everyone gets charity. Outside of Richmond

We played finals last year did we not?

Therefore, we don't meet the current criteria

There shouldn't be priority picks for any club - it is a stupid system

Wce shot up roids
The gc/gws is a laugh.
Collingwood cut deals with the expansion clubs and tanked.

I reckon the "everyone's on the welfare apart from the tigers" is a fairly decent argument

Stuff of Melbourne. Fold the club instead

Steal our Tassie games and give them to North.
Steal our Skoda sponsorship and give it to GWS.
Steal the Tassie devils sponsorship and give it to Carlscum.
Steal our home, the MCG, and give home function rooms to Collingwood and increased games to Carlton after paying them compo to go to Docklands.
Give a brand new home to Hawthorn after paying them compo for the loss of Waverley.
