The main interest in this game is whether McBean will kick a few goals and win the VFL's leadering goalkicker award - Frosty Miller Medal.
The days of VFL spearheads kicking large tallies of goals appear to be a thing of the past with this year's Frosty Miller Medal winner set to land on the lowest tally since Footscray's Lew Dally with 32 goals in 1900.
Richmond's Liam McBean and former Tiger Daniel Connors, now at Port Melbourne, lead the way on 35 goals, entering the final round ahead of Werribee's Ben Warren and Coburg's Lech Featherstone on 34.

Connors kicked 3 yesterday so Beany needs at least 3 today or 4 to win the VFL goalkicking outright.
-
Needs 4. stuff Connors.
-
We should get Connors. He lives with Dustin anyway

The worst decision the club has made in 10 years.
The club was duped into thinking he was any good maybe because the only decent games he ever played was against us.
Stupid stupid stupid.
The moron that made the choice to recruit him should be banished to Siberia.

VFL Tigers beaten after final siren
John Lindon
August 24, 2014 8:05 PM
The VFL Tigers suffered a heartbreaking loss to Footscray in the final game of season, with the Bulldogs converting a 55-metre set shot after the siren to win by three points.
The Tigers were terrific for three quarters and lead for the majority of the game but Footscray stormed home to remove a 32-point margin, despite an important late goal from skipper Ross Young.
Sam Lloyd impressed up forward, booting three goals. The dynamic goalkicker was dangerous all day and also collected a team-high 25 possessions.
Todd Banfield was lively up forward, as was Aaron Edwards, who finished with two majors. McBean also booted two to finish second in the VFL goalkicking with 37 for the season.
Matt McDonough continued his impressive form with 17 disposals and another influential display up forward. Brad Helbig (20 possessions), and Dan Jackson (16 and a goal) were solid performers in the Richmond midfield.
Todd Elton rebounded with intent and used his 15 disposals well in what was his best game of the season while fellow big man Shaun Hampson marked strongly in packs and hit the scoreboard.
Skipper Young again led his team from the front and, along with influential defender Ed Barlow, was a strong contributor.
David Astbury played limited game time in his return from a knee injury but was a composed figure in defence and had 11 disposals and five marks.
The inaugural season for Richmond’s stand-alone VFL team now comes to a close, with the Tigers finishing 12th on the ladder.

Are the magoos mentally week/weak?

How is Banfield going, Is he up to AFL standard, Is he another unrecognised Miles type player?
Or is it because we have no spot for a small roving fwd type?

I would like to know, outside of helbig, where was the leadership from senior players?
Jackson?
Hampson?
Didn't think Aaron Edwards did much when it was on the line (moved back i think)

Richmond VFL coach Tim Clarke's summary of how the AFL-listed players performed at VFL level in Sunday’s loss to Footscray:
Sam Lloyd
3 goals, 25 disposals (15 contested), 7 inside 50s
Played a very good game across half-forward and through the midfield. Another very good performance from him.
Brad Helbig
20 disposals, 8 tackles
Solid most of the day in the midfield then needed to go down back when Dave Astbury went off at three-quarter-time. Strong around the ball, just needs to keep working on his decision-making with the footy.
Matt McDonough
2 goals, 17 disposals, 4 inside 50s
One of the better players on the ground before getting a knock to his leg in the third quarter, which restricted him to playing deep forward. Very exciting through the midfield and played his role up forward.
Ben Darrou
16 disposals, 6 marks, 5 rebound 50s
Played on a mixture of opponents and played his role really well. Helped us offensively but was rarely beaten in his defensive work and helped control the back half.
Dan Jackson
16 disposals, 6 tackles
Continues his comeback from a spell on the sidelines. Was very good around the ball but still needs to try and work on running to receive and get more outside football, which can increase his numbers.
Kamdyn McIntosh
16 disposals, 8 marks
Played most of the game on the wing. Continues to come back from a 10-week stint on the sidelines. Disappointing that he hasn’t been able to finish off the year with some senior football but we’re sure he’s going to take some confidence into pre-season.
Matt Dea
16 disposals
Solid again in defence. Played on a variety of opponents, and helped set us up offensively and provided plenty of support with his chop-out marks.
Cadeyn Williams
2 goals, 15 disposals
Solid game across half-forward and midfield. Continues to win the ball well, we just need him to make better decisions when he’s got the footy.
Todd Elton
15 disposals, 6 marks
Todd had his best game for the season, playing on one of Footscray’s key forwards and gave him no room. Although he conceded a goal, it was a goal out the back. His defensive pressure was terrific.
Aaron Edwards
2 goals, 14 disposals, 3 contested marks
Aaron was solid again. He took three really good grabs, had a few shots on a goal but was well held by the Footscray defenders. They were able to match up well on him but his work rate was terrific.
Matt Arnot
14 disposals (11 contested), 6 clearances
OK on the day with his clearance and inside work. Well down on his possession count, we expect him to be getting high 20s. He needs to be using his run to be able to get to more contests.
Orren Stephenson
13 disposals, 25 hit outs, 4 clearances
Solid in the ruck, probably winning the ruck contests early but got a knock just before half time, which left him sore but he battled out the game well.
Shaun Hampson
1 goal, 11 disposals, 6 marks
His ruck work in the first half, working alongside Orren, was outstanding. Beaten a bit in the second half but fought out the game well. Pleasing thing from his game was his contested marking.
David Astbury
11 disposals, 5 marks
Solid for three quarters (he was rested in the last quarter). Very good defensively, still needs to work on a few things offensively to get him back to AFL standard.
Brett O’Hanlon
10 disposals, 3 inside 50s
OK on the day, but didn’t get his usual numbers. We expect a better performance from him.
Todd Banfield
1 goal, 4 clearances
Had a quiet day offensively. Still managed to contribute with tackles, which he’s been able to do for most of the year but we expect better from him.
Liam McBean
2 goals, 7 disposals, 4 marks
Reasonably quiet. Competed well and hit the scoreboard but we also expect a better performance from him.

So I would expect Banfield, A.Edwards and Arnot to be on shaky ground come end of year. Darrou has been a VFL mainstay for years now so it may be time to make a call on him too despite his consistency. Helbig and Williams can't seem to break into the team either. The Mac's will get another year at minimum. The Big O is a dilemma too. Is Elton safe?
I'd almost move Vickery back to the VFL and play him as the No. 1 ruckman. Eventually I can see Vickery taking that role from Maric with Griffiths as the CHF/2nd ruck.
It a shame Hampson is on the list for at least another year

Plus very good kids. I rate their list. They have a few holes like most sides but their recruiting over the last 3 to 4 years has been very good. IMO of course.

Yeah but, yeah but, yeah but Reecey just needs a full pre-season, Newy's a top bloke whose experience is invaluable around the club and Lids just can't do without his bestest pal Griggy....oh look they all play important roles....

I'd like Reece to have a full pre season, if only just to (hopefully) boost his trade value
-
Maybe a full pre season would actually help Reecey, who knows he might become a decent player....
