Dimma said no injuries from tonight's win.
Vickery and Jacko will both be available although they both haven't played in weeks. No VFL games for the rest of the list to press claims.
Fire away your changes, if any?
-
No change.
-
Pettard lost the plot
Like the English test bowler who forgot how to bowl
And had to be sent back to pommy land
Five touches
Three free kick against
-
Petterd out Jacko In

Petterd out Jacko In

Petterd out Jacko In
Conca out
-
No Changes
-
Thought Gordon was our worst player.
Only change will be Conca in from Sub, Gordon out to Sub...
-
Did one bad pass, apart from that he contributed well, may find himself sub though
-
Question mark Gordon and Petterd
Jackson ?
And Thomas ? Old club shut down roll as Petterd been doing
-
Yes let's drop Gordon - our one genuinely quick player - for a final at Adelaide Oval against one of the quickest sides in the comp. Good idea, nupties.
-
out newman lol :thumbsup
-
out newman lol :thumbsup
Agree - worst on ground after Petterd.
-
There was a vital moment near the end of the game when Reece Conca totally dogged it. I'm sure some of u blokes will watch the replay and you will see it. He had to go but he didn't. He'd done nothing all game and he shouldn't have walked straight back into the team anyway so if anyone gets dropped it's him.
What a win ! I reckon we can beat Port over there. We travel well and all the pressure is on them.
And a shout out to Shaun Grigg and the coaching staff today too. They got it right using Grigg to shut down Malceski. Well done Grigga !

Better than usual. Forgot he was playing. :lol

Thought he was as slow as a turtle tbh
-
Petterd out for Jackson. Occasion got to him, pity after a couple of months of good footy. And we need bigger bodies.
Didn't like Newman or Morris' games, but who can we use instead? Dea? McDonough? Unfortunately these two need to stay in the team.
Gordon's workrate was good IMO. Keeps his spot.
-
Please not Jackson.
I'd rather bring in Jarrad Oakley-Nicholls dressed as Hampson.
-
If we want a good shut down player then jacko is the man
-
Petterd in danger of being dropped. Would bring in Jackson if Petterd dropped. Gordon needs to work on his disposal but would not drop him. Agree Newman did not have a good game.
-
No change.
Petterd, Newman, Morris need to fix their faults which are serious for us going into the final
Jackson should not replace match fit players & l would not play Jackson. Vickery on a dry day l would bring in as we have plenty of runners. Petterd will lose his place if anyone does
-
Petterd lost the plot yesterday don't know if there will be any change. For me No Change.
-
Petterd had a shocker and is in danger but I think he has done enough this season to warrant a game. Having said that if all things are equal between Petterd and Jackson then it probably goes to Jackson as the reigning b&f.
Recent history shows a lot of sides will go with the extra tall in finals and sub one of them, so Vickery might get a game. Will be interesting to see which way we go, I wouldn't be upset if they went with the extra tall. It's just a matter of who makes way.
Grigg played well against the swans and would be unlucky to be dropped. There. I said it.
-
Dea for Pettard.
Dea is more composed and disciplined IMHO.
-
Gordon is nowhere near genuinely quick, where did you get that info from? His biggest asset is his massive tank (can do level 16 in the bleep test, that's elite) it was his decision making last night that was terrible. At times he looked like a deer in headlights. On Conca 12 possessions in a 1/4 and a 1/2 is a pretty good return from the sub.
I would bring in Jackson for Gordon.

Need a smallish forward. At least gets to the contest Gordo.
Based on his last month he plays. Had good memories last time we played there.
Jako is washed up for us. Trade him yo GWS or St Kilda for young players or kids, his B&F should read well for us to get the above done. Jako is a teacher now of young kids now not some unskilled undisciplined trundler who just will hinder in a finals atmosphere.

From watching him live - you should try it - they might be shyte and not quite as quick as White but he & Banfield are still the only players on our list with anything remotely resembling line breaking pace and Banfield's a rookie, so it's Gordon or no-one.

Agree no Hackson. Trade him to GWS.
I thought Hamspson was just JON on stilts.

Quick in the legs - slow in the brain. That is why he "looks" slow.

Dea is more composed and disciplined IMHO.
He was a bit poo like everyone in the end of the footscracy game
As much as in pains me to say
Still bring him in. NEed brave people
-
Outs- Petterd and Conca (both turn it over to much by foot)
Ins- Vickery (need someone to help Jack kick some goals)
Dea (need his pace and hardness in defense)
Gordon to be the sub
-
Hepple would be handy right about now :shh
-
Would make rather dea than mc squib

The Barometer - Finals Week 1
Herald-Sun

RICHMOND
ON THE BLOCK: Ricky Petterd is in the most danger. He has done some important jobs this year but copped the red vest after just five disposals on Saturday. Nathan Gordon was quiet but kicked an important goal and his pace will be handy against Port. Chris Newman and Nick Vlastuin will be looking to improve on their Sydney form.
ON THE CUSP: Some tough questions for selectors. Dan Jackson is available after serving a one-game VFL suspension and Ty Vickery is still waiting in the wings. Team balance, and a match-saving Ben Griffiths mark, might keep him out. The likes of Sam Lloyd, Matt Dea and Ben Lennon provide further depth.
AL PATONS FORECAST: Wow. I didnt think Id be writing this section until about 6.55pm on Saturday but the Tigers are here and have form and virtually a full list to pick from at the right time of year. A trip interstate wont bother the Tigers they have won their past five road trips, including silencing the Adelaide Oval crowd against the Crows. But the fact Port is clearly the strongest side in the bottom half of the eight might. Richmond got the Power in Round 17 during their mini form slump, but Port has its mojo back now. Alex Rance and Troy Chaplin should have Jay Schulz and Justin Westhoff covered, while Newman, Steve Morris and Dylan Grimes have huge jobs trying to contain Robbie Gray and Chad Wingard.

Thing that poos me about newman - on the sunday footy show when they asked Goodwin who was reviewing the game "how did Newman play?" he replied outstanding, his form since his injury has been great.
Are these bozos for real

What part was the Conca incident I missed it watching it live wouldn't mind looking at the replay.
Malceski - 29 disposals, 6 marks and in the bests. If Grigg was on him (looked like no one was) he did a poor job
-

On another website someone saying that Petterd was on Malceski and did a "superb" job until the 2 frees against.
Who was on Malceski?
-
Don't bring in Jackson. Only players I would consider dropping would be Gordon for Lennon or McDonough
Petterd a quality player and a tough match up for defenders. Can also play down back or tag.
Cannot have Jackson, Petterd and Morris in the same side because they are all terrible kicks.
Were just a likely to bring in Matt Thomas!!

Malceski was the Swans loose man in defence
Original I thought Grigg was on Parker but after watching some of the replay he spent a fair bit of time on McVeigh

Griffiths' place in the side is safe according to Dimma.
Jackson set for recall, Vickery in the mix

RICHMOND appears set to recall experienced midfielder Dan Jackson for Sunday's elimination final against Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval, but key forward Ty Vickery is far less likely to regain his place in the team.
After finally shaking off his injury problems, Jackson missed his club's round 23 win over the Sydney Swans because he copped a one-match suspension following an altercation in the VFL the week before.
But Tigers coach Damien Hardwick remains a fan of what Jackson can bring to the table in the tough and rugged theatre that is finals footy.
"He's ready to go," Hardwick said on Monday afternoon.
"He's a finals-type player, he's hard, he's tough, he's in our leadership group, he's a quality bloke.
"He hasn't had probably the season he would've liked ruined generally through injury.
"But its one of those decisions we'll make. If he helps us win we'll put him in."
But Vickery, who hasn't played in the AFL since copping a four-match suspension for striking Dean Cox in round 18, is facing a far tougher battle to convince the coach that he should take on the Power.
Vickery's key problem is that his replacement, Ben Griffiths, has been a star performer in Richmond's improbable charge to the finals.
"Griff's obviously secured a spot, absolutely," Hardwick said. "Ty is a selection decision we'll make.
"Griff, to his credit, has played consistent footy since Ty's gone out. Once you're in the side it's hard to go out if you're playing a good, consistent brand of footy.
"Whether we have the third tall this week (is a decision we have to make). Last week we chose to go without it.
"It will be a selection call we make on Thursday or Friday."

Huge risk bringing Jacko in

Barely played a game without getting injured. What's the point, get him right for next year
-
Huge risk bringing Jacko in
Has got Newman circa 2013 written all over it. :help

Not sure about that Smokey, reckon Jacko is the big body we want for a hard edge in a final. His fit and might be a nice match up for one of their mids as a run with.

Agree we could use his body and hardness but my point was directed at his fitness. He only played 1 full game in the reserves after many weeks out injured and after his interrupted season as a whole he couldn't possibly be guaranteed sound enough to compete and last a full finals match a la Newman last year. We can't afford a passenger and I think he is at too much risk of being one this time around.

Id swap in a heartbeat. Fyfe might win a brownlow if he stops getting suspended. Might poll 20+ votes this year.
-
So how bout we swap out dusty for dea, Chimp for an orangutan and Chaapy for kermit the frog. You know sheeds would do it and they'd somehow win with the frog getting BOG in a mud puudle of a game.
-
Couldnt we have had Luke Parker as well

In the Mix - Finals Week 1

RICHMOND
The Tigers will have to decide on whether to play Dan Jackson, after his return from a hip/groin injury was stalled last week when he was suspended for an incident in the VFL. Ty Vickery is in a similar boat after failing to gain a call up last week when his four-match suspension ended. But it's a hard team to break into at the moment given the Tigers haven't lost since round 14. Matt Thomas has not played since round 20 due to a knee complaint but faces a tough task to break into the midfield if deemed fit, while it remains to be seen if David Astbury's three quarters in the Tigers' final VFL match last weekend will be enough to see him return to the seniors for this epic clash in Adelaide.

Farewell match for Kingy, he can take out gray send him off on a stretcher then we can sub him off
-
Fyfe would mean no Griff :whistle
Tough one!! :lol
What about a couple of years earlier - pick 18 Alex Rance, pick 19 traded for Jordie McMahon and could have had Callan Ward or Scott Selwood - both would be pretty handy this weekend....
And if my mother was a cat, I would go meow....
