Title: Danny Daly quitting as assistant coach
Post by: one-eyed on September 04, 2014, 10:09:10 PM
Barrett tonight on the Footy Show just said Danny Daly will be quitting as assistant coach once our finals campaign is over and will be heading up to Brisbane to join Leppitsch.

Excellent news, was an ordinary player with the Bulldogs and never should have been appointed.

Does this lend any weight to the rumours we locked away Hayes as an assistant? Assistant coach stocks are getting slim.

Sorry OE but this was confirmed a few days ago.
He got up and told supporters at a pre game function in Sydney last Saturday!

Barrett read it here or on BF. :wallywink

Disappointing!

Why can't they take Lade or Williams (not Choco).

Aren't you part of the 'playing ability has nothing to do with coaching ability' brigade?

On the RFC website, it says Daly is the Midfield Stoppage Coach. So there will be a vacancy for a midfield assistant coach which fits in with the Lenny Hayes rumour.

No I don't think so, but I think success breeds success in players and coaches.

I just checked and I hadn't realised he kicked 70 goals in 92 including 8 in a qualifying final so had some ability.

What happened to a ruling that assistant coaches weren't to be poached midstream. He we are on cusp of a finals campaign and we have a staff confirmed to join the enemy. There would be many who d suggest they be summarily dismissed on the  spot  :shh

Confirmed ...

Justin Leppitsch has begun the task of bringing his own people into a tailor-made coaching panel by recruiting former colleague Danny Daly from Richmond as the Lions’ new midfield coach.

Daly will finish this week with Richmond who were smashed in a qualifying final by Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval yesterday.

He is set to join Brisbane when the players return from annual leave in late October.

Unfortunately what seems to happen is that the better coaches get other (better) jobs and leave while the poor coaches nobody wants and you're stuck with them until you decide to cut your losses and replace them.

It happens in all workplaces.

It's why the union idea of open redundancies is a disaster for workplaces.
The good staff can see the writing on the wall and get another job, improving and energizing their next workplace.
The duds can see the writing on the wall and cling like barnacles, usually playing politics, sucking productive life out of a dying workplace.

Richmond assistant coach Danny Daly has departed the Club, to join the Brisbane Lions coaching panel.

“We’re sad to see Danny leave, but understand the opportunity he has in front of him,” said Richmond’s General Manager of Football, Dan Richardson.

“Danny has been a magnificent contributor to Richmond over the past five seasons.  He is admired by the playing group, respected by the coaches and staff, and his knowledge of the game is outstanding.

Ryder is a really good forward. Hell just play forward and only pinch hit in the ruck if injuries happen.

Smokey, this is TBR's attempt at humour as Danny Delre played for the Bulldogs in the early '90s as a key forward.
