Title: Heritage round
Post by: cub on August 03, 2005, 06:32:55 AM
Even tho all of this is becoming a bit of a toss and $$$ making - anyone know which one's we will wear this time - Didn't like the last one too much.

Please don't let them make us wear that thing that looks like it has a big yellow funnel on the front. :P

I've heard a whisper that the Yellow shorts from the 70's are going to make a comeback for the hertiage round  :gobdrop :gobdrop :help

Haven't heard anythng about the jumper - the "shorts whisper" was enough  ;D

Although I don't think anyone could top what Port Adelaide are going to wearing

Rather special isn't it :lol :rollin

Noyce. :help  Maybe they give you a jumper to match how bad your season’s going. :rollin  Just as well we’re not 16th.

Do you think sometimes with these jumpers that something gets lost in the translation?  No way known could they have looked as bad then as they seem to now.

As if the jumpers aren’t enough to worry about, how about them matching socks? :gobdrop  Tops the whole thing off.  Where don’t I get a pair from?

Our heritage jumper will be launched either on Monday or Tuesday. Once again it's top secret so they can't tell anyone ::).

Our past attempts from Mero's footyjumpers site: footyjumpers.com

2003 (1908-1909 woolen guernsey):

2004 (pseudo-VFA guernsey):

A 2005 possibility (1912-1913 guernsey):

More proof that the club are looking after the supporters. Putting off the embarrassment for a week is very thoughtful and works for me.  ;D They'll have to come up with a real doozie to outdo Port though. Yellow shorts is a good start.  :-[

The umpires should get into the heritage spirit more. I suppose 3 Labradors and 3 hand-holding mums makes it a bit too crowded on the ground.

LOL FF  ;D

We're the only club not have released their heritage guernsey so it must be a shocker   :-\.

Fortunately I was too young to remember the yellow shorts  :help.

Don't expect any freebies this week. Umpiring always favours the home team at Subi especially Freo :-\. Add to that we'll have to listen to 6PR on the radio barrack for Freo rather than commentate on the game ::).

I actually quite like that one - though with the yellow shorts it would be worry ;D

I wonder if they are going to sell them to the unsuspecting public this season? It's a great merchandising ploy IMO

If they did I'd even consider buying one ;)

The Port (yes that blue and white hoop monstrosity) and St Kilda ones are on sale so ours may be too WP.

The long sleeves make it look a bit like a jockey's silks but I agree WP it would be a much better look than our previous two heritage guernseys  :P.

First thing I thought that it looked like wasn't jockey silks but it looked like a Soccer shirt (look) - Julz wll disappointed with that I know because in soccer the shorts are rather baggy ;D ;)

If they're tight yellow shorts I reckon there's probably no need to specially make them. Roland Roccacelli has probably got enough pairs in his wardrobe to lend the team. I think he'd probably be suitably pleased to see a footy team in his pants.  8)

Latest rumour is we'll be wearing our current guernsey (full sash) but with printed laces down the front representing the old lace-up jumpers last worn by KB. So we could be going with a 70's look if the yellow shorts are worn as well.

LMAO some clubs getting fancy tops designed for this round. RFC just gets someone with a big black texta to draw a column of Vs on the jumper.
