Could be good for the Cubs :shh
-
yeah I agree and I wrote it in the other thread. McCartney is a good coach and a good bloke and if we can afford we should get him in to support Dimma and the other coaches.
-
I know we take the pee about every senior coach getting sacked coming over as an assistant but for macca I think we should have a massive crack.
-
Playing-coach in the VFL? How does he say no? :shh
-
Why are coach sacking always about us?
-
Straight swap for hampson
-
Get Cocka :gotigers
-
How did he go last time he was an assistant with us ?
-
Trade for Lids and Tyrone.
-
Dev coach, get it done Tiggies.
-
i think worrying about getting macca down to the club should be the last thing on our plate we need to look at the list and the players on the list coaches don't play the game these 22 each week do.... waste of money :thumbsup

Gordon said a post-season review had revealed the coach's communication with players had become a serious issue in the second half of 2014.
“Macca acknowledged that observation and he promised to work on it, and the fact of the matter is he has worked on it, really hard.
“But it’s also fair to say we were concerned and Macca himself was concerned about whether the position itself was recoverable.

yep, lets race out and get a coach who has been shown the door for failing in the most fundamental area a coach needs to competent, at the bare minimum, in.

On the otherhand he's been a very highly regarded assistant in the past at geelong and the bombers. Won the assistant coach of the year award by the coaches association in 2010. Just bc he failed at the bulldogs doesnt make him a dud.
-
no, but surely it must be a concern if his issue was communication with the players?

he has a good development record before he became a head coach.
dunno about melbourne itself but even over here in perth lots of people have been scathing of his coaching.
sa lot of his team selections have been nothing short of bewildering and his poor game day performances almost as bad. ive thought for at least 12 months now that he would have to go at some stage.

Tbh not really for mine, mainly bc it never was previously.

The issue was that he pushed them too hard. That's right.
-
Yes, we should.

perhaps it was, just that it didnt stand out due to those around him?
who knows, though?
i find it a concern for a coach to be given the a for that, and bemusing how nearly every coach we appoint gets bagged, all the while every coach sacked/pushed from other clubs we should be trying to get

;D
It is a bit of a pisstake.
But yeah in this case, I rate the way he speaks and comes across in public and given the way reverent way Balmey/Mooney speak about his time at the cats is enough for mine.

Serious yes. Need to land a real assistant coach
-
imagine if we land him, and taylor petrenko and the wassis name from the gold coast WOAH ! we are the retirement village for sacked coaches.
-
Does it concern anybody that he was more or less ousted by the players due to communication breakdowns?
-
we complain about getting hand me down players but many of us want discarded coaches.....go figure
-
Didn't he start off at the tiges in 1998?
Come back home Brendan! ;D
-
Reading between the lines, the problem some had with his communication was they didn't like what they heard. More of a problem with the players not the coach.
From all reports he is very good are very hard especially with his senior players, a couple of things we lack in our coaching department.
IMO he would be a great addition to our club. Enough kids as coaches learning on the job.
-
Yep doggies mature players little girls
-
So we're confident then that the tail has wagged the dog?
I'm not convinced.
