How you define this term 'list blocker'
Would you say Richmond have any?
If so, who?

List blocker?

List Blocker>
Def (1)A player who has reached their potential but keeps getting games in front of players who need experience to grow and fulfill their expectations.
Def (2) As per Def (1) with the addition that said list blockers are being selected to play as favourites to try to garner favour with members with short term wins in mind at the risk of developing younger more talented players
Def (3) A paycheck player who has no interest in the long term goals of the club and who knows they will be selected week in and week out because the match selection committee have no foresight or vision.

List blocker?
Age has nothing to do with it - hell, JON was clogging the list at 19......Conca though still has decent trade value so for that alone he's not a list clogger.....that will likely change if he serves up yet another year of mediocrity....
-
and don't tell me we need him for his leadership.
Was the most silent, uninspiring captain that i can perhaps remember, apart from Cap'n Peepee.
Decisions like these demand disrespect

Good thread topic.
For mine, a list clogger is a player who:-
A/is youngish but hasn't devleoped enough over time (a reasonable amount of time unless there is a particular issue)
B/ is established in age and/or getting regular senior games but can't further improve as a player or us as a club.
So in this first bracket I would put:-
Dea, Batchelor, possibly Arnott
In the second bracket it's a bit easier (to me):-
Foley, Newman, Grigg, Thomas, Pettard (play well at times. It believe we could devleoped our own in his role), Knights (injuries) and Hampson
-
Yeah I'd add Dea & Batchelor too come to think of it - Pettard I'd put in the borderline category. Still useful depth for now and I still think he would go a lot better playing more as forward. Jeez, we do have quite a few though.

For me a list clogger is a player whose negatives out weigh their positives in terms of football. A list clogger can be any age. An example would be Newman.

Another example IMO is Arnot

David Schwarz on SEN:
Dan, any concerns in the ruck? Ivan isn't getting any younger; I know you've brought Shaun Hampson over from Carlton; Ty Vickery can pinch hit in there. Is that something you will look at in the draft, or in the next year or so, to bolster up that position?
Dan Richardson:
At some stage as Ivan gets a little bit older, it's something we will need to continue to look at. We did bring .... well, we thought Ivan had a terrific year. The only time Ivan does at times struggle is, by his own admission, because he's not the tallest ruckman going around compared to those big opposition. That's the reason why we brought Shaun Hampson in a couple of years ago. Through injury and opportunity [lack of], he hasn't quite delivered what we would like to date. But we still think at 25-26 years of age, that there's still improvement in him and we saw that at times in the middle part of the year; then he got injured towards the latter part of the year. We'll back him in - in terms of profile and the type of ruckman we need - you know getting up a bit higher [in the ruck contest], getting us first use of the footy and getting the ball moving forward. We believe he can be that player.

injury and opportunity, stuff me, what about the stuffing dudness

You gotta wonder he didnt mention not Soldo either. Is this just the party line he's towing or is Soldo so far from a prospect that he will be a dud.

Maybe because Soldo is a very long term prospect who has played a total of probably 20 games of football in his whole life. If he mentioned him as back up can you imagine the outrage it would cause and the abuse he'd get about being delusional?
