Yep another poll ;D.
Who was the most prolific ball-winner at Tigerland over the past half-century?
-
No Lambert or Broderick?
-
KB easily. He would pick up 30 kicks a game as our rover regularly........
-
KB, easy.
-
Juries, Slater, o'dwyer,laffy
-
I'd probably go with Lambert just ahead of Campbell. They were freaks at getting the footy. Barry Rowlings was another who seemed to get 30+ kicks every week. Never handballed though and scrubbed a few.
-
You don't have to be an in and under player to be called a ball magnet. KB by a long shot. The ball always appeared to be in his hands especially at crucial times.
-
Broderick , Weightman, Lambert, Tony Free when he played in the middle and Campbell were all great ball magnets.
-
Joel Bowden, esp when Patrick played !!!

Francis Bourke ought to be on that list at the least and Rioli and Raines

Is it your enlarged prostate that gets you up so early or something else?

KB would have a games worth before most had finished running onto the ground, he used to hypnotize the ball with his comb over.
-
Weightman not in the poll is a kick in the guts to a fantastic ball winner & one of the greatest players in Yellow & Black or the Big V.
& the guy played his career with Diabetis :clapping remarkable fella.

KB had the footy on a string! It was HIS footy from siren to siren! Was so good they changed the rules just to stop him! Will never forget his finals series in '80, just sensational!
All hail the little master! :bow Greatest player EVER!
Special mention to Flea ... :bow

Going by the current votes there must be at least seven poeple here who obviously never saw KB play.
-
probably too young. We should have him cloned, I was watching the old footage of him and he really was magic. Weird seeing him with a full head of hair in the old black and white vids lol. It is still one of the biggest crimes in footy he never got a Brownlow. Just anti Tigers spite.
-
Begs the question - was KB better than Ablett Jnr?
-
I'm going with yes
-
Agree with Brackets. KB impacted the game more, didn't get a lot of cheap meaningless possessions. Not that I'm downplaying GAJ's ability but I reckon KB had more impact over the whole game for most of the 400+ he played.
-
From what I saw of KB no way was he as good as GAJ. Admittedly I only remember KB's last 5 or so years.
GAJ is by far the best and most consistent footballer I have ever seen. He can do it all.
-
GAJnr
-
KB wasn't just a ball magnet he was a class A thief.he could steal the ball from under the nose of his opponents
-
Both awesome
KB played the traditional 60s/70s era but made the transition into the early 80s game style which did show somewhat of a departure from the last 2 decades.
GAJ modern day game his entire career.
-
Coughlan was for about 10 seconds.
-
KB's career stats:
Avg disposals: 22.76
Avg kicks: 20.63
Avg handballs: 2.13 ;D
