Inside the clubs: Richmond
Brett Anderson
SEN
21 Dec 2014
Pre-season training is back in full swing at all 18 clubs and over the next two weeks, SEN Inside Football will break down each club's list for season 2015. Next up is the Richmond list.
NEW FACES...
NATIONAL DRAFT
12. Corey Ellis
Western Jets | 9/10/96 | 184cm | 74kg
Clearance specialist in under-age footy and has more than his share of courage in tight contests. A smart footballer whose disposals by hand and foot always find the target. He has a high possession rate and tackles strongly.
33. Connor Menadue
Western Jets | 19/9/96 | 188cm | 69kg
Highly respected in the TAC Cup for his running and endurance, and likes to take the game on whenever he can. Athleticism enables him to break the lines coming out of defence.
52. Nathan Drummond
Murray Bushrangers | 19/2/95 | 181cm | 85kg
Played as a 19-year-old with the Bushrangers this year and worked hard on getting his game to a level where he would be a draft candidate. Backs up his endurance with a turn of speed. His excellent testing results at the draft capped a year where he did everything required.
67. Daniel Butler
North Ballarat Rebels | 3/8/96 | 181cm | 79kg
Pace is a key asset and was one of the best performed small players in the national titles. He showed exciting qualities at times and has a good endurance level as well as the ability to break the lines.
77. Reece McKenzie
Northern Knights | 28/3/96 | 196cm | 100kg
The son of Carlton’s Warren, he is able to move well and cover ground despite his size. His strong contested marking and goalkicking are features. He can also help out in the ruck.
ROOKIE DRAFT
11. Jayden Short
Northern Knights | 24/1/96 | 179cm | 73kg
Rated by many as the best kick to play in the TAC Cup this year. At the moment he excels as an outside midfielder with good pace, but will develop his inside ball-winning ability. He plays mainly wing and half forward with bursts on the ball.
29. Jason Castagna
Northern Knights | 12/7/96 | 182cm | 78kg
A medium-sized defender or forward he played mostly down back in the national championships. Strong worker with good endurance levels, he loves to take a run with the ball, but may need to sharpen his kicking.
46. Kane Lambert
Williamstown | 26/11/91 | 178cm | 78kg
Talented on-baller who at 23 is a mature footballer with strong credentials at VFL level. Made a surprise move from the Blues to Williamstown and after a hip injury finished 2014 in grand style.
61. Matthew Arnot
Richmond | 21/10/93 | 180cm | 86kg
Re-rookied after his career stagnated in 2014. Has a host of challengers for an inside midfield role so will need a huge summer.
68. Ivan Soldo
Unregistered | 14/4/96 | 204cm | 104kg
The cousin of Ivan Maric, the young giant has a basketball background and is a highly speculative choice. Has played only one TAC Cup game and Richmond signed him in July. Lost 17kg and has undergone tuition at Punt Road.

TALL DEFENDERS: Alex Rance, Dylan Grimes, Troy Chaplin, David Astbury.
MIDFIELDERS: Trent Cotchin, Brett Deledio, Dustin Martin, Nick Vlastuin, Brandon Ellis, Reece Conca, Shaun Grigg, Shane Edwards, Nathan Foley, Anthony Miles, Corey Ellis, Connor Menadue, Nathan Drummond, Taylor Hunt, Matt Thomas (rookie), Jayden Short (rookie), Kane Lambert (rookie), Matthew Arnott (rookie).
SMALL/MEDIUM FORWARDS: Ben Lennon, Chris Knights, Sam Lloyd, Nathan Gordon, Daniel Butler.
TALL FORWARDS: Jack Riewoldt, Tyrone Vickery, Ben Griffiths, Liam McBean, Reece McKenzie.
RUCKS: Ivan Maric, Shaun Hampson, Ivan Soldo (rookie).
SWINGMEN: Todd Elton.
ROBERT SHAW SAYS…
Having promoted one of the 2014 success stories in Anthony Miles the Tigers looked to add speed and ball use. They must be careful not to unbalance their list with too many elite users and may need to develop a tough inside player with Daniel Jackson's retirement. Corey Ellis looks a quality pick at 12 but the centre of attention could well be Reece McKenzie, the towering power forward. He needs a lot of fitness work and positional development. He was picked 76 spots after Paddy McCartin and 69 after Peter Wright so let’s wait three years and then compare fortunes.

Think it means we drafted Kane Lambert. Not sure why you highlighted the other names?
Would like to know who this Ben bloke is though...when did we pick him up?
