'Angry' Deledio left frustrated with tough 2014

RICHMOND star Brett Deledio has opened up about a frustrating 2014 that he says left him angry and searching for answers.
Deledio injured his Achilles in the opening round of the season – a loss to Gold Coast – then battled through Richmond's round two victory against Carlton before spending four weeks on the sidelines.
In that time, the Tigers lost three and won one with Deledio watching from the stands alongside fellow stars Ivan Maric and Alex Rance.
"I was angry, to be honest, when you're losing and you can't do anything," Deledio told Richmond's website.
"You're asking questions [like] what's going wrong and how can I help with not only myself sitting on the sidelines but Rancey and Ivan sitting there as well.
"I just felt so bad for Cotchy (skipper Trent Cotchin). He was getting absolutely mauled week in, week out by these taggers, and I couldn't do a thing about it to help him apart from pat him on the back after the game."
Deledio and Rance returned to Richmond's side in round seven, but it would be weeks for the Tigers' season gained any momentum.
"I really wasn't able to be comfortable out there until about round 12 when I had a really good heart-to-heart with my old man and with Dimma (coach Damien Hardwick).
"From there I felt like I got my speed back in my game and felt comfortable and my workrate lifted and the results probably speak for themselves."
An 11-point loss against the Sydney Swans at the MCG in round 14 saw the Tigers slump to 16th on the ladder with a 3-10 record.
That loss was to be Richmond's last of the home and away season as the Tigers went on a nine-game winning streak, with Deledio playing an important role through the midfield and at half-forward.
It is a role the 27-year-old is hoping to reprise in 2015.
"Now I'll probably play half-forward swapping with Dusty (Dustin Martin) and Shane Edwards and 'Axel' (Nathan) Foley," he said.
"It feels really comfortable but I've still got to try to find a few more tricks for next year and work harder again to make sure I'm continually giving myself the best opportunity to win the ball."

Should be Captain.
Is the spiritual Captain, will take I've from Cotch "Hodge style" after our first premiership :shh
-
our secret weapon, was unstoppable in the run home :shh

Should be Captain.
Edwards for Captain would be the fair thing to do.
:cheers

Not sure where that comment is coming from, hope it isn't racial.

Whys he peeed off?
They made the finals.
They all played.
They just weren't good enough.
Blaming the start of the season is a cop out.
Finishing higher would've seen the same thing happen.
Consecutive losses.
Nothing article.

Haven't seen too many articles of note ever written at this time of year.
-
Hopefully Lids achillies woes are behind him because he is a VERY important player.

Has Lids ever been angry on the footy field?
I remember him getting a bit testy with a no name tagger who was pantsing him but that's about it

any time of year?
Perhaps but at this time of year there is actually nothing relating to football that is worth writing about in an inconsequential way

After the final siren for the narrow loss to West Coast, Round 5 2012 at Etihad, he punched the ball away in disgust. Angriest I've ever seen him.

The game escapes me but he did also kick the ball away in frustration which resulted in a 50 against us.

Liam Picken got under Lids' skin in 2009 but Lids has turned the tables since.
Slim Pickens for Tiger tagged to point of fury
Jay Clark
June 07, 2009
BRETT Deledio looked ready to explode as Liam Picken shoved and bumped him on the edge of the centre square throughout Friday night.
For much of the game, Picken delivered short, sharp forearm jolts - not enough to hurt or injure, but definitely enough to infuriate - and knocked one of the game's top playmakers off balance.
Deledio maintained control, but he was clearly frustrated with a year-long low of 13 possessions, in the Dogs' resounding 68-point win over Richmond at Etihad Stadium.

Maybe he should've done something then
-
Seems to spend most of his time peed off then
-
We would be screwed without him
People expect him to be a match winner (me included at times) but reality is his a solid a grade player that may occasionally turn a game on it's head
I don't know the guy but he seems a shy introverted character. I rarely see him pumping up the guys
