Title: Who could debut in 2015?
Post by: one-eyed on January 19, 2015, 02:02:24 PM
We have a fair few new faces on our list this year as well McBean and McIntosh who have yet to make their AFL debut.

So who do you think will play their first game for us in 2015?

Reckon McIntosh would want to debut this year or he could be one that could see the axe at the end of the year.

Ellis as a first rounder will likely get at least couple of runs, other than that, it will probably depend on injuries.

I just want to see TV really prove a few things, either way.  Its a priority question that needs to be answered, then we will know what to do with a few others, like McBean & McKenzie.  Make or break time Ty & I want to see it fully sorted out before NAB cup games start.  Prove you deserve your position Ty, or we should move on now.
Draftees, over due players & rookies should all get games in practice & pre-season games.  Very keen to see C.Ellis, Menadue, Drummond & McKenzie in action.  Very interested in Lambert too.  Curious about Soldo but not expecting too much immediately, would be happy to see anything useful from him at this stage.

Menadue is the new kid standing out the most in training so far.

Will play in Round 1 vs the scums. What's his kicking in general like ?

So who do all these debutants come in for?

It's unlikely to happen other than the very odd occasion. Hardwick has his favorites and is hell bent on pushing to finish 8th. Why take the risk?

Got no time to blood newbies

Grigg - weak as pee
Foley - game past him IMO, list clogger
Petterd - not good enough, fringe player always
Gordon - see previous

To name a few.

Not sure who will debut but I'd like to see Menadue and Castagna. (I know he is a rookie but I hope he gets elevated)
Both are excitement machines going off their clips. We desparately need their pace. Menadue off a wing and Castagna off HB.
No reason why we cannot blood a couple while still having winning as our upmost focus.
Really would anyone loose sleep if we didn't see Grigg or Gordon or even Houli for that matter ever again?
IMO the side as it was most of the year in 2014 has hit its ceiling. We need to inject QUALITY kids.

Would also like to see McKenzie have a crack if his VFL form warrents. I would love him to put pressure on Griffiths and even Vickery. Those two need to get to the next level if we are to be a contender and if they cannot than move on over!

Castagne is a really bad kick. Not sure why we got him

i 100% agree. unless the team changes significantly for the better we will firstly stagnate then drop to the bottom of the ladder. to me finals should be the aim but it should not be the be all end all.have to ask though do we actually have QUALITY KIDS  or a host of battlers.
i have to ask can you see the problem with the list here. we are talking about promoting 1st yr players over the many who have been around for 3 4 or 5 yrs. why is that? surely not because those players have not produced. yep it says heaps about many of our juniors and development players. thats not to mention the mature types who need to be moved on.
surely its our deas, batchelors, eltons gordons lloyds arnots, mcintoshs mcbeans  mcdonoughs we talk about claiming a spot but we dont.

people talk as if we have completed a rebuild yet the truth is we have only done half the job the hard part is moving on reasonable players for better.all we have done is turn over the hacks and make it to middling. im sure we all want better than middling.

Hunt, Ellis, Menadue, Drummond, Lambert and McBean.

I honestly think 4 of them Hunt, Ellis, lambert and Drummond will be pushing hard for best 22, all seem physically close to it. Think Menadue will play a solid quota of games too.

P.S I like Houli and think he contributes a lot to our side.
Title: Re: Who could debut in 2015?
Post by: Andyy on January 20, 2015, 10:56:12 PM
Houli just need to be a bit braver and make his tackles stick. Otherwise he's an effective player.

Fair to say Grigg hasn't contributed much since his first year. Foley hasn't done much for several years. Petterd had a handful of good games - not enough. Gordon (see Petterd).

3 mids and a forward out. Ellis, Hunt, and maybe Lambert in. Lennon to replace Gordon. McBean and McKenzie need to pressure Griffiths and Vickery.

We need to stop playing Houli in defense. He needs to play wing or forward of centre. He really hasn't got a defensive bone in his body although he has worked very hard to improve that aspect of his game. Would love to see Menadue and Butler as well as the big mack truck.

Because this is a debut thread and most of the non first year players have debuted except for a select few.
