The Swans were the clear winner from last year’s draft, according to Champion Data analysis.
The AFL’s official number cruncher had Sydney averaging a differential of +172 points per draft pick compared to its own rankings of the draft pool.
That was based on jagging Heeney, which Champion rated at No. 3.
Champion rated Richmond the best-performed Victorian club with a differential of +83 points per pick with the Tigers drafting five players, while North Melbourne ranked 17th.

Clem Smith is a dud

I like how GWS & Sydney's protected academy picks are considered "steals".

They was my first impression too. Then I read the proposed changes to FS and academy picks and became obviously clear that Sydney can only be competitive with so many ridiculous concessions.

They are "steals", it's daylight robbery

sure is.what is wrong with the afl funding all the acadamies, in victoria as well and those who show enough are available to all clubs when their pick comes around.ffs they actually have a zone which is not available to most other clubs.
the whole idea and ideals of the draft is being corrupted. there can be no advantage to any club in the draft and in salary cap.
if sydney dont want to grow the game in sydney without gaining a massive advantage create another club who will and let the bastards die. im sick to death of the inequities in our systems and its sydney who always seem to be the big beneficiaries.
