As some of you would know I am a retailer and I sell a few ranges of AFL licensed products. I have been doing this for many years but this is the first time I have had something like this happen. Today I went to order a fathers day indent of products which included "Team of the Century Canvas Prints". I was told I could order every club bar Richmond. I asked why and was told that this product had been done last year and a certain player wasn't happy his image was on it as he wasn't getting paid and so they are not allowed to print the Richmond ones. I find this a bit weird. Anyway if you see any of these snap them up as they are not being done again and could become a collectors item.
I was told the players name but I will not repeat it as its second hand and I have no proof of it apart from what I was told. A favorite son though , as are most of the players in the team of the century.

Kevin Sheedy you money hungry muppet

I own one of the team of the century prints. I'll tell you a short story based off my own experience with it.
Back in 2008 prior to our centenary game against Carlton, when they had all the past players down at Punt Rd signing autographs etc. I thought it'd be a good time for me to get most of the missing signatures on my print. I took it down and everyone I managed to run into who was in the team of the century was happy to sign it. Most commented on how great it looked and admired my masterpiece coming together... everyone except for one past player. Royce Hart.
When I asked him why he wouldn't sign he told me he didn't sign anything unless he was paid for it due to people selling it for profits. I mentioned to him the print this was for my own keeping and I never planned on selling it. He muttered a response, something about his autograph being owned or contracted by a memorabilia company he was part of. I offered to pay because I figured I'd probably never get another chance for him to sign it as he lives in Tasmania. I only had a $20 note on me after buying one of those one off jumpers, and he wanted $50.
Ruined my day even before we got flogged by Carlton again. Every time I look at the print it reminds me of the moment he refused to sign it and walked away. I never saw the guy play, being born late 80's, and my one experience meeting him I was left thinking "what a flog." :banghead

bit of a shame

is generally the norm in this day and age that a royalty would follow if image was used for commercial purposes , something doesn't add up. more likely that we wanted to maintain the integrity of limited edition and not reproduce like a $2 perry como cd available in a garage sale near you :shh

yeah, bit of a loose cannon is royce, doesn't make him any less worthy of team of the century status, he's the 70s version of dustbin martin :shh

What a idiot Royce Hart is.
The standard behaviour from athletes is to have 2 signatures. Their actual one they save for certain pieces to retain value and another they use for everyday autographs.
-
No doubt it was Royce. He has a history of being difficult with this sort of stuff.
Great player on field..
-
Not going to go through whole team but it wasn't Royce.
-
Not what I'm hearing either :shh

Yeah, it's obviously that tosser Sheedy. OE even has him on this forum's banner. Time to take him off OE, he's disgraced now (and heading back to Bomberland for buckets of cash)
