The Score: Eerie coincidence facing Richmond

Herald-Sun
April 30, 2015 12:33PM

THE number - 16.

That’s how many points Geelong lost to North Melbourne in the 2007 Anzac Round. The following week they defeated Richmond by 157 points.

In this year’s Anzac Round Geelong again lost to North Melbourne by 16 points and on Saturday they play Richmond ... spooky.

We’ve dug through the archives to find a few pictures from that fateful afternoon when the Cats set some records against Richmond at Etihad Stadium (then the Telstra Dome).

We didn’t know it at the time, but that match was to kick-start a Geelong dynasty that would result in an awesome winning record across the next eight seasons and deliver three premierships.

Tigers fans can go into this weekend fairly confident they won’t be on the end of the same result.

One of the worst matches I have ever been to. We better turn up with a better attitude than last week otherwise we will get thrashed by Geelong.

Stayed until the bitter end....by the last quarter only thing I was cheering for was for us not to concede the highest ever score.....good times....

Stayed to the end too.
Saw them getting clapped off at half and full time.

Remember Matty White kicked our first, Geelong had 7 by then and he sprinted off like he was in the Olympic 100 metre final. Come to think of it, if I was playing that night I would have done the same. :help
