BAD LUCK: Griffiths, Drummond OUT - injured

BAD: Newman, Chaplin IN ... McDonough OUT

OK: Vickery IN - replacing Griffiths ... Gordon OUT - thought he was better than Lloyd

GOOD: Lennon and C.Ellis IN ... Arnot OUT - can't play at AFL level

What sort of chances are you talking about, thought Foley may have got a spot but apart from that i cant really think of anyone else playing well enough to come in.

I would have dropped Astbury for Grimes

I would given Arnott another game

And I would have dropped Morris for Foley

Reckon they're planning on Morris going to Johnson and won't that just be Terrific, just TerrificTM

Surely if Grimes is fit he plays in front of Batchelor?
With Batch, Chaplin and Astbury down back we are extremely slow. And throw in Vlastuin and Houli and we arnt very quick at all. Need an injection of speed in this backline and side in general.
There is a kid on the rookie list that could add that?? But that may mean someone has to make a tough call.
Axel in front of Grigg, Lloyd, Houli would have been nice too.

Anyway good to see Ellis and Lennon. Let's hope both are there for the next 10 years.

What's the stats on victories of teams that have made 5 changes? Someone once brought it up once regarding 4 or more changes.

people were saying that c.ellis was 6 to 8 weeks away in terms of being able to play. I fear for the kid. Geelong is still a good outfit. this is not the game to be blooding a youngster IMHO.

I think the ins are good. A blend of experience and youth.  Would rather keep injecting youth into the team and giving them senior game time.  They will be all the better for it next year. Let's face it, our "best" senior team will never win us a flag so we might as well start finding out who may show glimpses of ability that may be able to one day win us one….

I don't mind the changes. Experienced half forward for injured half forward. A new kid replacing a new kid. Half back comes back and Grimes,Gordon and Foley were injured so no choice there. All pretty sensible really. I don't know what people are whining about. We still have a couple of young players getting games.

tdy it's the concept of stability. if you want players to play attacking, bust the game open type of football you want them to make educated risks. If you enforce a culture of if you are short of sublime then you get dropped even after a week from the get go players are going to chip sideways and play what's perceived to be safe. McDonough and Arnot didn't set the world on fire that is true. But to omit them when Morris did nothing and Sam Lloyd did nothing I think is quite stiff

There are too many defenders in the team. There are so many that Morris has spilled over to the forward line even though we know it's not working. If he gets sent to the backline again who are they going to swap him with? Chaplin? Batch? None of our defenders are versatile enough to go forward. The backline looks slow, and none of them are great kicks. McDonough is stiff, he could offer the backline some ground level support and run and he can actually get a kick.

Besides the goal Arnot was useless last Friday. For a fellow starved of senior opportunity he finally gets his chance and he falls like a soggy biscuit.
He's not a kid in his first season anymore.  When your small & limited you've got to do it the hard way. Overcompensate for your deficiencies, work your arse off & play your next game like its your last.
He was a major disappointment & I don't blame the coach for dropping him again.

McDonough was way out of his depth & looked completely lost in the tempo of the game I'm wondering if he will make it so it was an obvious drop.

That said, how Morris is still in the team is beyond comprehension.
