THE AFL has fined Richmond $5000 for failing to provide up-to-date player address information to the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority.

AFL general counsel Andrew Dillon confirmed the sanction in a statement released by the AFL on Wednesday.

In accordance with the Anti-Doping Code, every AFL club is required to keep ASADA informed of the current address of any listed player for testing purposes.

Players can be tested for performance-enhancing substances at any time during the calendar year.

Dillon said Richmond had been fined the minimum sanction of $5000 for the administrative error because of its strong compliance history.

In a statement, Richmond accepted the sanction on Wednesday evening.

“Compliance and adherence to AFL and ASADA policy is taken very seriously by the club,” said Richmond general manager of football Dan Richardson.

“We acknowledge an administrative error in communicating change of information with regard to a player’s new residential address, and accept the $5000 fine.

“We have reminded our players of the importance of updating their records with the club to ensure total compliance with both the AFL and ASADA.”
