1:40pm: After one week out with concussion, Richmond key forward Ben Griffiths is ready to return. History, however, suggests the Tigers would be reluctant to play Griffiths, Ty Vickery and Jack Riewoldt in the same team.
The Tigers last played the trio together in round 12 last year and have opted for Griffiths (when available) ahead of Vickery this season. A lively performance and a clutch goal last week has Vickery in favour, so the Tigers' final team on Sunday will be intriguing, with Griffiths named on an extended bench.

From the Hun
"RICHMOND tonight emphasised a need to rework height as a means of testing the Power with coach Damien Hardwick making two changes to the 22 who stunned Collingwood.
The Tigers have called up key position option Ben Griffiths and SANFL draftee Shane Edwards. They replace Todd Elton and ruckman-forward Liam McBean."

Yeah great. Destroy Elton and Mcbeans confidence by giving them 1 game every 3 years for stuffing Vickery and friends :banghead
Like the sound of this SANFL draftee Edwards though. Is he new?

Wait until "Newy" comes in for Aurora Corey Ellis in the next week or two...

Actually, while I would love to see Elton and McBean stay in there is little else that he could have changed for Griff and Edwards. Unless Morris went out for Elton but I can't EVER see Morris being dropped.
-
We need 21 more of him and we'd be a good side... apparently

Menadue offers a big fat zero at this stage. Mind boggling decision
-
How is Batchelor and Hunt still in the team?
Batchelor is a horrible defender!

Agreed

port (looking at each player) on paper are very beatable.....on paper only though...unfortunately for us.... if only you could sub dimma with someone like bomber

Because dimmer reckons he takes the game on and what he does wrong, he negates wih stuff he does right.
Genius coaching.
-
Truth is our list is shallow and they're nowher near being a finals threat
-
Massive opportunity for Ty Vickery, will be watching his game and level of intensity
-

Dima is after speed against Port and Menadue offers that.
-
Hope they give Menadue more of a run than last week. Hunt should have been dropped.

The sub rule is the worst rule in footy.
And I don't even think coaches use it right.
Why have a guy play for 3 quarters and another play 1 quarter? Wouldn't it be better to play 2 guys for 2 quarters each at 100%?
Just on Menadue, he needs to get out wide and get some easy kicks to get some confidence. Run up and down the wings like a madman for 2 quarters and get some cheap, link up footy.
I'd play McIntosh on a wing for the first 2 quarters while the game is still hot and sub in Menadue at halftime to inject some pace after the game opens up a bit.

Because they are worried about the consequences of an injury. If someone gets injured in the last quarter then you are only down in rotations for that quarter, not the whole half. Agree with sub rule though, it's a bad rule.

We've been waiting for 7 years so I wouldn't hold my breath

I understand that but I wonder what the percentages are for the season for the sub rule being used for a injury as apposed to just replacing a player around the 3/4 time period? I'd think it's heavy towards the just replacing a player because you can.
-
Should elevate Castagna from rookie status and let him run the ball out of the back line with his pace.

As mentioned in the game thread, Menadue is the sub, so he's not going to get much game time unless someone gets injured early.

For me the best scenario is half way through the 3rd. Player x busts his gut for the first half and after half time most players are back to at least 90% and ready to go again but are quicker to run out of puff again. This is why they bust a gut for another 10 mins then bring the fresh man on.
